Cool fact: The argentinian defender that conceded the second penalty, Gonzalo Montiel, was also the last player to kick in the penalty shootout, as if he seeked for redemption. Truly beautiful.
Might be already too late. But also, there have been a lot of butterfly effects within the ranks of the Argentinian team that made them turn the way they were now. I'll start with Montiel's case again. Gonzalo Montiel is a very young player that came from one fo Argentina's biggest clubs. River Plate. Around 2019 River's main Striker called Borré had tainted River's mark missing 5 or 6 penalties in a row in over a couple of months. The Manager of River, Marcelo Gallardo, decided to replace Borré as the penalty kicker with a young Gonzalo Montiel. He has yet to miss a single penalty since then. This second case is the wildest in my opinion, revolving around Argentina's now well known Goalkeeper Emi Martinez. But this wasn't always the case. He used to be a benchwarmer in Arsenal, the english team, for almost an entire decade. And it was only after Arsenal's main goalkeeper, Bernd Leno, suffered an injury. And this doesn't even stop here. There used to be a big debate wether Martinez was good enough to be picked as the main goalkeeper. Before him, River Plate's main goalkeeper, Franco Armani, was the one that ALWAYS played as the first goalkeeper. But due to COVID of all things, Armani had to step down from playing for the national team. And guess who answered the call? Yeah. This is a fucking anime. Not even gonna mention some other cases like how Messi and Di Maria had previously retired for playing for Argentina's national team, only for Messi to receive a facebook message from a young kid that begged him to keep playing, not to win, but to have fun. That kid was Enzo Fernandez, the midfielder that won the "best youngest player of the tournament" award in this world cup. Or an amateur recording of a 12 year old Julian Álvarez after playing a juniors match, confessing that his dream would be to play for Argentina's team alongside Messi. Just. Truly emotional.
@@4Rys454 not only that. Lionel Scaloni, the coach, had a lot of people (including Diego Maradona) against him coaching the national team cause he was inexperienced. For him to be the one that made Argentina win Copa, Finalissima, WC and had an invictus of 36 match. Said invictus was broken by Saudi Arabia, whose coach predicted that Argentina was going to win the WC despite losing their first match. Kun Aguero was the old 9 of the national team until he had to retire of futbol due to a heart condition caused by Covid, and guess who is the new 9 of the national team? Brazil losing by penalties in quarters. Nigeria not classifying for the WC. 4 finals lost, 1 crucial penalty missed, retirement, then coming back to win the Copa America, Finalissima and now WORLD CUP. Perseverance, sweat, blood, tears. Greatest comeback story ever tbh. Messi is like an anime protagonist lol. He was planning to retire after winning it but he changed his mind to continue to play as a champion. He had this incredible pressure every time he ever plays for argentina. Now for the first time he'll be able to enjoy playing for his country without feeling the pressure. Im so happy for him.
I think you forgot to mention what by far was the most anime plot moment that there was: In his match against Croatia, Julian Alvarez, playing for the first time in a world cup, scored a fantastic solo goal and a second one masterfully assisted by his childhood idol, Messi. He was 12 when he was playing and said his biggest idol was Messi. Little did he know back then not only that he would be playing alongside his hero, would be assisted by him, celebrate together, and finally, win the world cup with him. The story of a kid's wildest childhood dreams come true.
@@robynotyourbusiness Netherlands-Argentina for me, the equalizer from weghorst is just a stroke of genius, sadly they lost but it was one of the mst thrilling game in the world cup
One of my favorite moments was when the Netherlands tied it up against Argentina. That shit was insane… literally the last possible chance and they scored
You got to remember how much Messi has suffered in the past decade to understand the weight of this World Cup title. He lost a World Cup Final in 2014 to Germany in extra time, lost two consecutive Copa America Finals to Chile, a 2018 World Cup campaign that ended in the round of 16, Diego Maradona died prematurely and Messi was forced to leave Barcelona due to financial issues. This was a redemption story for a guy who had to play through an 8-2 defeat and blowing a 3-0 lead TWICE in the Champions League.
+Copa america final defeat vs Brazil 2007. And fr. that bottle vs Liverpool................. Facing Tottenham in the final, would've literally been a guaranteed win.
Messi deserved it but he didn’t win it fairly, and it’s obvious why he won bruh, also Mbappe played better than Messi, look at the player ratings and Mbappe scored the most goals out of everyone in Argentina but still wasn’t mvp, at least he’s number 1 from the whole World Cup tournament
I wish you would have made this video longer. I thoroughly enjoyed it, providing more insight on Ghana and Suarez’s beef, Messi vs Argentinians and him becoming fierce outside the match for the first time. Also Portugal’s loss and Ronaldo’s performance/reaction, Argentina-Netherland’s beef, Luka Modric’s goodbye and cheers for Messi, Mexico’s disappointment, the heartbreak of Morocco, Japan and Korea apologizing to their fans, etc. This world cup was just amazing, it delivered so good.
We never forget Japan suddenly turning Anime god mode for half an hour. Or when Ghana purposely subs on defenders when they're 2-0 down to make sure that Uruguay gets eliminated. Or when Morocco shocks us all and becomes an anime story of its own. Or when the WC final becomes a batte of the M10s. My first ever wc experience, and it surely didn't dissapoints.
I don't know why people are still pushing the narrative that Ghana was trying to eliminate Uruguay? Their defenders were basically passing the ball to them daring them to score. 😂
Another for the anime ending, Montiel, the last penalty shooter for Argentina. Montiel was very poor as a kid and used to play penalties for money growing up. River fans knew this because he became their main PK shooter after a bad streak all others had in the team, so when they saw him walking to make the last penalty they knew they were Champions, as Montiel has a 100% accuracy record since his debut. It was poetic to see the kid that used to do penalties for money do the final penalty in the World Cup Final.
Another thing i want to add is the excellence of the Argentinian team. They truly gave everything for their captain, to see him win and rise with the trophey. The majority of them hadn't played for too long in the Argentina team and, for some others, it was their first World Cup too.
Im Argentinean and watched the final on a Park where they streamed the match to thousands of people. People were getting crazy, ive never seen a match so intense in my life
Lo viste en la Plaza Seeber? Yo tambien! Fue una locura. Aparte por cabala tenia que verlo lejos de mi familia así que desde el 3-2 me pasé el partido llorando en brazos de un italiano jajajajja
You forgot to mention how Argentina managed to win the world cup despite losing the first match against Saudi Arabia (after an undeafeted streak of 36 matches btw), something that only Spain could do before. Also, how Messi in his probably 'last dance' had one of the greatest performances in a world cup, winning the only trophy he was missing with the help of his teammates, wich they literally grew up watching him play since they were children. Lastly, how Scaloni, an inexperienced manager, won every international trophy possible in only two years.
Poland lost to Argentina but they could qualify if mexico conceded a goal and in the last minutes of the match saudi arabia scored a goal and Poland qualified bc of goal difference
You should've emphasized more on Argentina and Messi's fairytale ending as it's sooo rare for reality to actually deliver on the story lines like an anime but it did.
That final was literally a final season of a multi season anime all leading up to Messi winning it had it all the drama the power of friend ship (over just mbappe doing it all) the fact that it was also Argentina’s redemption after losing in 2014 World Cup final made it all the more dramatic and saddening if Messi hadn’t of won
The best thing about the Argentinian team is that a lot of the players are young talents, most watching Messi play their entire childhood and looking up to him. Imagine you getting to play with your idol, after watching him suffer defeat after defeat (in a not winning any cups with the argentinian team), and being part of the squad that finally won it all. That must be the best feeling ever
As an Argentinian and anime fan, you have no idea how much of an emotional roller caster this was. I had so many heart attacks during our games. And shii man I mean the other teams were putting a show as well. The best year of my life.
Estaba viendo el partido a las 3 de la mañana desde Japón y joder, vaya partido. Antes cuando era más pequeño vivía en Barcelona y no se que me hubiera pasado si Leo no ganó. Vaya partidazo de verdad.
duude i loved all of the video ! thank you for taking the time to make and recap the WC of last year ! it's true the whole experience was just waw, i still smile just by remembering it, the whole month everyone was just so happy and would say hi and hug you for the smallest reasons. As a Moroccan, the crazy story started even before the WC, some players weren't comfortable with the coach (considering they left their official teams to play with their country and i think most will agree the one who probably suffered the most from this was ziyech who got a lot of backlash and anger ) but just a few months before the WC, the old coach was paid and kicked from the team and "Regragui" or as we call him "ras l'avocat ("avocado head" because of his baldness) came in, he set a better atmosphere, the players preffered him, reguragui brought new values to the sport and brought the team together like a family. The word cup started, at first not all moroccans watched the game (as they say they don't want to get false hope, watch and get mad) but personally with some friends we bought the moroccan team jersey and decided to watch and cheer on the team even it's just the first matches, the match was broadcasted in our university and hey we won, we were so fricking happy, then the wins started to roll and we went crazier by the match every time we celebrated, we run in the streets holding the flag, people go out with their cars with the flags, songs and everything, locals do their folk dances, people use small fireworks, the king went out in his car too !!! and every time there were more watchers, with time as the team progressed, you realize people from Africa and the Arab world is supporting you and celebrating with you. And then there were the players ! ooh they were dedicated to their matches and then from time to time we would get glimpses of their happy moments behind the scenes or during interviews and it was just such feel good moments, all of them were killing it, hakimi, ziyech, aguerd, boufel, nesyri, bono making goalkeeping look easy, amrabt that beast bro left the hospital during treatment to get back to the game and all the other team members did a good job, then came the Morocco Vs France with the two friends playing against one another (Hakimi and Mbappe) and France won, but honestly they were good ! and later on both parties put on a good match during the next game, well ! you already made a great summary of the next match (argentina Vs France). I hope we can get better and play again ! Finally, in the last chapter of this world cup, the players came back and were welcomed like heroes ! The whole team, coach and staff were fabulous, they made us dream ! and we're thankful ! And thank you for the video i enjoyed it !
amazing video, im an argentinean and this world cup was crazy. as much as wee suffered the final, in my experience, argentina vs the netherlands was way harder to live through. fantastic.
Its even more anime like if you see the journey of Argentina and Messi before and during the World Cup. Winning Copa and Finalisima with an almost brand new team and a new coach, winning every match before the world cup only to lose against the worst team in the group because of too many Offside goal cancel and a blatant false call from VAR putting them in a death match type situation where any lose moving forward is elimination. The fight with Netherlands, absolutely demolishing Croatia who beat them with similar score in the last world cup and facing the strongest team who also knocked them out in the previous world cup. This world cup was absolutely phenomenal
this guy showed argentina like an enemy, he mention only the good stuff france did but never mention nothing about messi and how he fights to obtain this. This guy statrted watch football yesterday to do this videos and get some likes.

Croatia themselves, (well more like livakovic), went INSANE this world cup. The entire team were mostly new players, as players from the previous world cup retired. But the leadership of Modric, brilliance of Gvardiol, and the insane goalkeeping of Livakovic kept them alive. Everybody counted them out due to the completely new squad, but they prevailed. That is, until messi destroyed their dreams and destroyed MY dreams of seeing modric lift the trophy.
@@Retrodox If there are winners there are losers, but don't worry I can say that even if we won 3-0 Croatia was a worthy opponent and nobody underestimated Modric's team.
I remember watching the Portugal vs Korea and Ghana vs Uruguay in airport restaurant seeing Korea’s goal and the game end was immense, but even more so was watching Ghana vs Uruguay which had a slight delay, looking at the other TV and seeing the entire squad on the field together waiting for the G v U game to end as Uruguay piled on more pressure for 15 minutes after the P v K game ended for one more goal, it was incredible the way that matchday ended
As a Moroccan, this made me so emotional, thank you so much for doing this. It's probably not your usual content and it might have been hard to get this out. The world cup did feel like a fantasy, it still doesn't feel real, it was more anime than any other anime I've seen haha. Again, thank you so much ❤️
The final was one of the greatest storylines you can have. Messi, the old king, vs Mbappe the challenger to the throne. It was a perfect generational matchup.
Argentina ark is literally an anime script started many years ago argentina had been for more than 30 years without winning any titles, they've lost many finals, in his whole career messi came to so many finals 2014 was a wc final lost, but 2018 was the lowest point, when an unorganized team got to the wc for argentina, one of the worst the massive failure got us into the introduction of one of the key characters: Lionel Scaloni Lionel Scaloni was literally criticized by everyone in argentina, saying he wasnt fit to be a DT, but he reorganized the entire team getting new talent and finding players with almost no name at the time like Dibu Martinez and it eventually paid off, with the "Scaloneta" (a name given to Scaloni's team) getting finally the first title for argentina in more than 30 years, the Copa America 2021 playing finals against argentina's most fierce rivalry, Brasil in the Maracana. that was huge, and Scaloni just started to stomp over everyone, Argentina got into a 36 games streak without losing, and the world cup came, everyone thought it was argentinas turn to win but then... argentina lost to the literal worst team in the entire wc, Saudi Arabia, many people lost their hope, but Scaloni took a gamble and it paid off, he changed the team, putting many players from the bench as titular, mostly youngsters like Mac Allister and Enzo, that ended up being key players at the wc it did seem like argentina was on the brink of losing, the match against mexico was the lowest point, the first half was bad, but in the second we got the win Polonia was a breeze of fresh air and Australia too, it almost seemed like argentina was starting to get everything right, and then came Netherlands, a match so intense, with an equalizer literally at the last minute of overtime, that almost had argentina losing... but argentina got through with a big its goalkeeper and got to croacia, a match that was won easily the final was already talked, but this wc set the stage for a new generation of argentine players, and the end of the career of some legends like Messi and Di Maria
as a korean, i usually see less attention on our journey through this world cup despising us getting destroyed in the r16. Glad you mentioned how dramatic the group was after korea won against portugal. Good video 👍
new info for me that the two japanese players who assited and the other scored were CHILDHOOD FREINDS and in the SAME SCHOOL!!!? it even got MORE ANIMED.
Argentinian here, I was lucky enough to watch the Japan's 1,8mm kick and I just stood up in disbelief. I also remember watching the last group phase match of Korea while having lunch with my family, it was pure tension and we celebrated Korea getting to the next phase like an Argentinian victory. And finally when Morocco was losing against France they were still fighting like warriors, I remember I was about to go out and a Moroccan player tried a beautiful chilena kick, that day I was talking to everyone about that kick. What a great world cup.

You definitely missed the most accurate anime scene from the final 🙂 Dibu's saves against Kolo Muani 💁♂️ The guy (Kolo Muani) still get nightmares from it
Great vid... I guess that if you look at the final from argentina's perspective its even more epic and anime like since they had to win 3 times as a team to be world champs. Whats more, the whole argentinian run it's an anime if u think about it. Lost the 1st match and all groups games ended up being death matches despite the good results. Then, the australians almost surprised the in the last minute... After that, the thrilling Netherlands stunt them with a 100' minute tactical goal, taking a 2-0 game to ET and PKs (a sign of what would come, great foreshadowing by the author). Finally, revenge against Croatias 3-0 in Russia 2018. And the final game against France, Messi's chance to finally win the WC after Brazils 2014 final against Germany with Diego Maradona watching him from the stars...
What makes the korean story better is that in last world cup they were in a similar situation, not only they had to win against germany, but also some external factors had to be fulfilled. They won against germany but they didnt pass to the next stage
Before the world cup 2022, I and most people didn't aware about Morroco. We thought Morroco was getting grouped. But after I watched their matches, I am truly satisfied by their amazing technique and teamwork. They beat Spain and Portugal to the semi finals and made history. The Morrocans along with their great sportsmanship will truly be in my heart. THANK YOU MORROCO🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦
You missed the most important thing in the whole WC. Messi, after losing 4 WC, even a WC final in 2014. The player who is for many people around the world, the best player who has ever existed in the history of this sport, was competing in his last chance to win the WC and set the debate once and for all. A man who was heavily criticized in his country for never winning a trophy for Argentina. Now is seen as a messiah. If you're talking about anime, Messi has the best anime redemption arc in sports history.
Should’ve talked abt Argentina vs Netherlands that game was more insane than the final, you got the beef and the the goal Netherlands scored literally in the last second and the penalties which were harder for them to beat than France
Finding out that Japan's duo that scored their qualifying goal for the last 16 were childhood friends who played together in school, was just mind blowing
Yesterday I played as a striker for my team’s club for the first time and your video “creating blue lock’s perfect team” unironically helped me understand what to do as a striker when you explained what isagi was supposed to do. Just wanted to thank you for that😂
Being argentinian living in Canada, i had to wake up at 6AM in order to Watch the game at a breakfast pub/restaurant in winter, litteraly one week before my birthday. This is for sure the best football game ive ever seen, emotions, goals, penalties, tackles… this game had it all! From 2014 to this day i used to think about the sadness i felt when argentina lost against germany… I felt like this Time it would be different and damn i was right, what a game it was… all argentinians from my city went to celebrate in Downtown, Montréal aaallll day long. Truly one of the best days of my life
The messi thing was like an anime, because his dream had always been to win the world cup with his team. In the past he was close to getting it but he didn't get it by being very close. At that time, Argentina depended on Messi, on his individual performances and he didn't get it. Then in his own country they unfairly criticized him and Di Maria, and that affected his family but they still went ahead and now an Argentina that did not depend on individualities, but on the whole team was the one that triumphed and won the cup of the world, because Argentina worked as a team from the beginning of the new stage
Loved the video! A bit sad that the argentinian road to the finals wasnt covered, the saudi arabian prophecy (manager saying Argentina would win the WC despite winning against them), the suffering of Argentina having to play every single game after that first group match like it was a straight elimination + the pain that was Australia and The Netherlands (which should have a whole section of their own, with the story from 2014 being repeated). Just thought there was a lot more to cover
Here in Argentina it really felt like it was written by the best screenwriter in the world. From the actual suffering in the matches to every single person repeating routines in order to have as much luck as possible. We saw signs of the universe EVERYWHERE that told us maybe, just maybe, this would be our time. I still cry to this day if I think about the cup for too long. I think we all thought the same when Mbappe scored that 3rd goal: of course we were going to lose, we Argentines are made to suffer. Great video my man.
Apart from the fact that they let in a* single goal it's amazing video. I was hoping for someone to show how amazing this tournament was for them. And here you are, great video
Richarlison anime-esque goals, both the absurd one against switzerland and the one he bounced on his head a few times then shot against korea were insane

It will be like Naruto flashbacks
+Copa america final defeat vs Brazil 2007.
And fr. that bottle vs Liverpool................. Facing Tottenham in the final, would've literally been a guaranteed win.
Messi deserved it but he didn’t win it fairly, and it’s obvious why he won bruh, also Mbappe played better than Messi, look at the player ratings and Mbappe scored the most goals out of everyone in Argentina but still wasn’t mvp, at least he’s number 1 from the whole World Cup tournament
@@yassell_102 😭😭😭😭 Messi was better and won it fair and square. Keep crying tho.

My first ever wc experience, and it surely didn't dissapoints.
my anime of the year
Was my first wc experience too, and as a Moroccan, it couldn't have been better
It was my first experience too and I was so gassed lol, I love football.
Japan got a cheap goal the ball went out and it still counted

And also the fact that Julian Alvárez won every big competition even tho he was a rookie
You should've emphasized more on Argentina and Messi's fairytale ending as it's sooo rare for reality to actually deliver on the story lines like an anime but it did.

That final was literally a final season of a multi season anime all leading up to Messi winning it had it all the drama the power of friend ship (over just mbappe doing it all) the fact that it was also Argentina’s redemption after losing in 2014 World Cup final made it all the more dramatic and saddening if Messi hadn’t of won
like naruto becoming hokage or beating madara/kaguya when previously lost the battle
11:50 I can't believe that you skipped the save of Emi Martinez that made the match go into penalties. But good video.

duude i loved all of the video ! thank you for taking the time to make and recap the WC of last year !
it's true the whole experience was just waw, i still smile just by remembering it, the whole month everyone was just so happy and would say hi and hug you for the smallest reasons.
Don't forget Saudi Arabia ending Argentina's 36 run unbeaten streak which made Argentina's trophy triumph even more unbelievable.

A part 2 will be amazing! Croatia vs Brazil, Netherlands vs Argentina, And the 3-3 thriller between Serbia and Cameroon

Argentina ark is literally an anime script started many years ago
argentina had been for more than 30 years without winning any titles, they've lost many finals, in his whole career messi came to so many finals
2014 was a wc final lost, but 2018 was the lowest point, when an unorganized team got to the wc for argentina, one of the worst
the massive failure got us into the introduction of one of the key characters: Lionel Scaloni
Lionel Scaloni was literally criticized by everyone in argentina, saying he wasnt fit to be a DT, but he reorganized the entire team getting new talent and finding players with almost no name at the time like Dibu Martinez
and it eventually paid off, with the "Scaloneta" (a name given to Scaloni's team) getting finally the first title for argentina in more than 30 years, the Copa America 2021 playing finals against argentina's most fierce rivalry, Brasil in the Maracana.
that was huge, and Scaloni just started to stomp over everyone, Argentina got into a 36 games streak without losing, and the world cup came, everyone thought it was argentinas turn to win but then...
argentina lost to the literal worst team in the entire wc, Saudi Arabia, many people lost their hope, but Scaloni took a gamble and it paid off, he changed the team, putting many players from the bench as titular, mostly youngsters like Mac Allister and Enzo, that ended up being key players at the wc
it did seem like argentina was on the brink of losing, the match against mexico was the lowest point, the first half was bad, but in the second we got the win
Polonia was a breeze of fresh air and Australia too, it almost seemed like argentina was starting to get everything right, and then came Netherlands, a match so intense, with an equalizer literally at the last minute of overtime, that almost had argentina losing...
but argentina got through with a big its goalkeeper and got to croacia, a match that was won easily
the final was already talked, but this wc set the stage for a new generation of argentine players, and the end of the career of some legends like Messi and Di Maria
Huh why is Saudi Arabia the worst team
@@1x0YT They are the second worst team after Qatar.
