Artist Lisa Stanko speaks about her acrylic painting "Wild Fire"

Artist Lisa Stanko speaks about her acrylic painting entitled “Wild Fire” that is in the exhibition “The Body Politic: Long Island Biennial 2024,” on view at The Heckscher Museum of Art from September 14, 2024 through January 19, 2025.
The artist explains, “Painting is a way of expressing my thoughts on social issues that are of great importance to all of us. Climate change and global warming are of great concern. Record breaking temperatures create drought and wildfires. In this painting, I want to convey the severity of the crisis, the extreme heat of the flames as they grow and spread uncontrollably, the deaths and loss of land and trees. The frightening force and speed of the firestorms are beyond our worst nightmare."
