  • In this video, I go over how to get a pit bull puppy to stop biting! Puppies are known for mouthing and biting fingers and hands and chewing up objects around the house. This is normal for puppies because they are teething and looking for a way to ease the pain. If the puppies are still nipping when they get older, I show a method on how to stop biting when they are older. Stay calm keep dog training and stay consistent!

I've done exactly what you suggested, watched your video several times. We got Elly at 5 weeks old (long story of why) now she's 8 weeks she is shredding my hands and my ankles when I walk. Omg I'm loosing my s#@t. This is my husband's dog but I have to deal with her when he works. We've noticed she does this when she's tired. Instead of putting her in her kennel we bought a dog play pen we put it in the living room she'll fight for a little while but finally falls asleep. I NEED HELP!!!

Anybody dealing with little ones please listen to that step 2 it goes a long way in your dogs life. I’m teaching my new puppy training everyday because I feel like my older dog has a little bit of passive fear from a puppy because I used to yell.. so main thing for us is to keep a stern voice and say what you mean and mean what you say. Good luck to all the pittie owners out there!

Funnily enough, we had to get rid of Daisy and we fixed up about 75% of her biting using the methods you said (back when you told me when Chip was being nippy.) She's in a much more appropriate home for her. She's an outside dog and they have a yard and kids who can spend all day training her instead of a cripple who literally can't go outside some days.
She was dropped in our laps. We did what we could. Now she's in a better home.

I know some people frown on giving up on a dog but sometimes it’s for the best. I’ve had dogs my whole life but sometimes it’s a poor fit and it’s not fair to the dog and not fair to the owner if it’s too much and ruining quality of life for both. I commend you on making that tough decision and finding a good home!

She’s a feisty 8 week old I have her first vet visit in 6 days she always tries biting my crocs but pulling her w the leash helps a lot and just making loud and clear demands. Ik how you feel but remember that they are animals and that you’re alpha and that they are at YOUR HOME. A big thing also is that I would let her on my bed when she would beg and cry but now I just invite her instead of letting her. She’s getting used to her crate I’m not going to lie she does stress me a lot sometimes but then I just really think everything through and understand that at the end of the day it’s not a human baby

Thanks for the relatively short video and for packing some good suggestions and information. I'm trying to help my young neighbor and their now nearly 6-month-old Pit Bull. The dog has been biting me on my dominant arm and drawing a little biood. Also clamping down on my finger, two times when it would've been very easy to bite my finger off. I bought a few toys that the dog likes. I'm trying to teach the dog to "sit" by using treats. She starting to learn that. When I try to walk her on a leash in front of the house - she pulls very strongly almost dragging me or my neighbor. My neighbor, in my opinion, was more in love with the thought of "having a pit bull" than in recognizing the money and time investment she and her cousin (18 & 21 years old) would need to invest.

Rescued a stray pit just a few days ago that was to be euthanized at a shelter and he's only 2. (Credit goes to my wife for finding him and working with advocates to save him)
He has no training whatsoever. Jumps a lot, is not pooty trained, is very mouthy and extremely destructive. We don't want to get down and play with him like that yet because of how untamed he is, so most of his mouthing seems to be him trying to find treats in our hands. He's a sweet boy, only wants to play in the way that he knows how. The advocate told us to try the apple cider vinegar method to stop his mouthing, and it sorta worked on day one but it eventually made him start barking, it now seems too stressful to use. So thanks for these advices. We just got protective gloves in yesterday and it will be helpful to put pressure on his jaw to stop the mouthing. Thanks bro!

Definitely trying this jaw and treat thing… my 7 month pup thinks nipping on me is part of playtime whenever we go running about, he catches up to me and plants his little teeth like he would when playing with his sister, not aggressively but they’re still sharp.

Sometimes I bite them back. Not hard enough to injure or break the skin but hard enough to get their attention. Because it's what the parent dogs would do when a pup is biting too hard. And it's been very successful for me over the years. Especially the younger the pup is.

....its closer to their nature. It seems caretakers forget animal nature is different from human nature. I mean.. people use these dogs to viciously fight but training via their nature is too much?

I got a pig from one of my husbands friends when he was around 6 months. He would put my whole hand in his mouth and start chewing on me like I was a bone. I used the pressure like you do and said no and he knows not do it but sometimes slips up but that's okay. Now I have a week old pit and he loves to chew on me and actually leaves bruise's on me. I got to the point that I would tell him no three or for times and if he doesn't stop even if I try to give him a toy I get up and leave. My husband gets mad at me when I do it. Thanx for your tips differently going to subscribe

Hi, just found your video (thanks for sharing!) I have an 11.5wk old XL Bully puppy who is becoming a tad aggressive with biting, so is she too young for the tip you shared about the thumb in the mouth - you said your dog was over 12 months when you did that? My pup is literally going nuts at times of biting, and I mean snarling, attacking, then when I ignore her she's grabbing onto my legs and tearing my clothes and not letting go, almost like she goes into a red zone? I got her at 8 weeks, so she wasn't removed from her pack/mum too early? I've no idea how to stop that, so i end up putting her in her pen for a few minutes which is probably the wrong thing to do too? 🙈 Any tips would be very much appreciated! 🙏🖤

my puppy is very young is.He is 1 and half months old and he bites a lot.Im giving him toys when he starts to bite me but he ignores the toys and comes back at me.I punish him by putting on time out. When i set him free from his timeout for the first 5 minutes he is very calm and he starts the same behavior again.also when i start to teach him some things i think he gets excited that i get on his level and dosen' t stay calm not even for one minute and he starts bitting and i cannot start the basic training.Do you believe that i have to wait until he is 2 months and older to start training and maybe by then he will be more calm?? Thank you for yur time ,amazing videos.
