This is how I get my cavalier cut so it was super nice to see the process of how it’s done. The other comments may not like it but this cut is just super practical and cute on a cavvie
I never thought I’d shave my cavalier; but after he was fixed, his hair got curly; thick and unruly. It was impossible to maintain, even brushing daily he got Mats and knots. He would get a mat in a matter of seconds if he started to itch his ears. It was insane. I don’t think all cavalier owners know how different one cavaliers hair can be from the next. We also moved on acreage and having long hair was horrible for him and us. The judgement from other cav owners on this style is embarrassing.
I so hate to see Cavaliers cut like this! Mine get their pads done and toes trimmed. I will have the skirt and pants ever so slightly trimmed up since mine are so active but I could never do this to mine.
Thankyou for your comment This is the most popular groom in all the salons down here. This one is one out of a family of 5 and all get this cut. What the owner wants the owner gets. X
This isn't a grooming video it's a clipping video, Cavaliers are supposed to have long coats, ears and feathers on their legs and tails, grooming is an entirely different process.
Play with her feet as much as you can even if it’s the smallest bit when she’s asleep when she’s cuddling you anytime if day it’s a very slow process but this is what we would do
Do you own cavaliers? I currently have four. We keep them short for their comfort as they get hot and they slide around as their feet get very furry. They aren’t as happy when they have so much fur. So no, they aren’t meant to have long hair for our enjoyment. They’re meant to be comfortable.
Has to be done here in the summer months.. They suffer so bad from the heat, and ticks will go unseen. They are spaniels and we love to watch them work on flushing birds out. And yes the pads of their feet HAVE to been bladed they slide uncontrollably and fall a lot. I do the grooming at the beginning of summer and by the time fall has hit their coats are coming back. 🥰
Hi I am wanting to start grooming my own cavalier as she's so nervous about going to the groomers. Can you give me any recommendations for a starter pack to buy? Also I was looking at the andis and I noticed you said you used a 7f blade. Might seem a daft question but do you just start shaving with this blade or do you need to put a plastic blade on the top of it? Thanks for your video

I would never let my cavie shave like that. Cavaliers have beautiful silky long soft hair. It's the same as cutting the long blond hair from Doutzen Kroes. A crime.

Agreed. If they aren't a show dog, then by all means shorten the ear fur so less hangs in their food or water (because my dog hates that), cut the fur on their feet so they don't slip or won't get as many spiky bits caught in it when going on walks, maybe a little bit off the lengths if too much touches the ground when they walk, but that is all. Shaving a dog with such beautiful silky fur is unthinkable!
I shave my cavalier since she was about 5 years old, and I dont have ANY guilt about that. Her fur was getting matt and dry, and impossible to keep free of knots after she was spayed bc of uterine inflammation. The alternative is to drag and pull her fur almost every day to keep it free from knots, and thats not very comfortable. Their happiness and comfortableness is much more important than their appearance!
