They filmed this scene first before Chrissy’s and Eddie’s interaction in the woods and would be a waste to remove due to the CGI and special effects and so kept it in.
What sucks is they filmed her death scene first, then they filmed them in the woods. They had so much chemistry that i think they would have changed the story around to give them more screen time.

The most annoying thing is that Chrissy, Fred and someone from the Jason's friend group saw Vecna and broke all their bones much faster than Max. Max was dying veeeery slowly, and then she even SURVIVED at the end. I was very disappointed that the creators of this series simply didn't let one of the main characters die in peace and decided to keep her in a coma. One of the worst plot twists in TV series - "The main characters are invulnerable and cannot die"
It be unnerving if they add a twist like if the heroes find out that the dead are physically dead, but their minds are stuck in the Upside Down with Vecna
