Honestly for me, they didn’t check much. Till the time your documentation is enough you are good to go!! They hardly went through the documents for me. Just the ticket !!

1- no they don’t measure the bag. 2- Air canada - some of the staff members are really cooperative while other are very rude 3- delhi airport - no one cares . Good luck

They keep the big dogs in the cargo. For small breeds they charge 100 CAD,if I am not mistaken they charge 200 cad for the bigger ones. I would recommend you to confirm once again from the airlines.

So , currently I stay at home and my husband works. So he is with me during the day!!! He took almost a week to adjust in the new environment. Yes initially he was a lil sad I think all he wanted was me !! He didn’t really enjoy any of our friends coming to our place and used to bark a lot but I believe that’s all because of his territorial nature. Now he is a lot more friendly with everyone . We didn’t really do anything after the long flight InfacT we just let him be himself!! He slept for quite a time after coming home,jetlag in dogs is real !!! Since shitzu’s are attention seekers and usually the most pampered breeds, I would say it is safe to bring your dog to Canada provided you are ready for extra hugs and cuddles!! Also there are alot of boarding schools like petsmart(available across canada) and other private schools where you can drop him off !! Also it is just for the initial phase that they face separation anxiety after a while if you keep them at home and go for work they manage being alone nicely !! Good luck to you and your dog.

As of my best knowledge I think you can still take your dog irrespective of your visa status. However it’s difficult to find an accommodation that allows pets here in canada if you plan to rent a place. I would suggest you to still do proper R&D . Good luck 🇨🇦

Hello This is a great video, very informative for all pet parents planning to get them to Canada. I am planning do the same soon. I have a question. Since the direct flight is around 15 hours, how did you guys manage his water, food intake and also poop and pee. I am very anxious thinking how to manage these in the 15 hr long flight. I have a shihtzu.
So for food you can keep the dry feed and some treats which can be fed in the carriage itself.For water I did carry his bowl in the carriage and kept feeding him every 3-4 hours.Pour water as little as possible to avoid the hastle.With poop,he did poop in the morning before boarding the flight.Fortunately his poop cycle is good and he poops only twice a day so we managed after we reached canada.Also he did not pee at all.And to avoid territory marking situation,I kept him in the bag as much as possible.

You can travel just in economy class. Premium economy and business do not allow pets. So when you will book your pet’s ticket, confirm with the airlines if any other pet is flying. Also once the ticket is booked,the staff books your seat then and there(on the call for me- since I booked nawab’s ticket over call).

1. Confirm with Air Canada whether there is any other pet flying on the flight or not? 2- then tell the agent to book the same flight immediately for your ticket. 3- call back Air Canada,share your PNR number with them and tell them to book ticket for your pet 4- you share your Visa card(credit/debit) details with the customer care and they book the ticket 5- they then send you an email confirmation.

HI Tanvi, how many days approx does it take to get this export certificate and all the medical check ups for the pet? I have a cat that I would like to bring to Canada and was wondering about the timeline of this process as I didn't start it a few months in advance.
So I did get all his vaccinations done approved from Dr chaudhary 2 months prior to flying. However the export certificate is issued just 7 days prior to your flight. She already booked my appointment with the pet quarantine centre near New Delhi airport, and all the documents were ready from her side. I just went there,doc did a physical examination of nawab, and then they told me to go back off as export certificate would be delivered after 6-7 hours. However I came from out stations so I requested her to provide me the export certificate (hard copy) on the airport on my day of departure and their team delivered it on the timings I requested a Coming back to your question you must book an appointment with pet quarantine centre no more than 7 days of your departure

There is no such permit. It is known as export certificate. You must check with your airlines. For example I travelled via AIRCANADA , so I had to carry a kennel of an appropriate size. As of pet permits, it is the vaccination that we must be cautious about. Whether our pet is fully vaccinated and it stands upto the requirement. I would suggest to talk to Dr. chaudhary’s pet clinic and see if she could help with the documentation and kennel

It was IATA approved and my agent(Dr. Chaudhary) helped me with it.I purchased the carrier from her and it costed me somewhere between 2500-4000 INR.

She already booked my appointment with the pet quarantine centre near New Delhi airport, and all the documents were ready from her side. I just went there,doc did a physical examination of nawab, and then they told me to go back off as export certificate would be delivered after 6-7 hours.
However I came from out stations so I requested her to provide me the export certificate (hard copy) on the airport on my day of departure and their team delivered it on the timings I requested a

Thanks for the detailed info Tanvi ! You are great. I am flying to Vancouver next month however it seems there is no direct flight from Delhi to Vancouver. There is one to Toronto but for my car it will be not so smooth taking another flight from Toronto to Edmonton.

There is no such permit. It is known as export certificate. You must check with your airlines. For example I travelled via AIRCANADA , so I had to carry a kennel of an appropriate size. As of pet permits, it is the vaccination that we must be cautious about. Whether our pet is fully vaccinated and it stands upto the requirement. I would suggest to talk to Dr. chaudhary’s pet clinic and see if she could help with the documentation and kennel
