    OMG it's a such obvious idea to defocus Z pass for masking Smoke/Fog. How I didn't come to this idea earlier. It's a such good trick! Thanks a lot

    Thanks Hugo! Enjoyed your video :) I was wondering when its best to use this method over deep compositing? Cuz im working on a project with crowd sims for concert performance. I want to put layers of fog in between characters in depth for added realism. I'm wondering whats the best solution for that.

    • @HugosDesk
      @HugosDesk  6 лет назад +2

      Yes it is possible to do this in Deep. Actually Nuke can render Deep EXRs so you can make the same with multiple layers, the geo and make a Deep render.

    Hello, Hugo. I am very thankful for your tutorials, watched them all while I'm working on my boring projects
    I am curious, why do you always say that everyone hates Maya and what would you recommend to learn instead?
    And one more: I am very inspired by your work on cinematics and would love to try myself in this direction as well. What should I be learning besides Nuke in this case?
    Thank you and good luck to you and your channel

    • @HugosDesk
      @HugosDesk  6 лет назад +2

      Haha well it’s mostly a joke. We, the old timers really liked XSI so we are just bitter, lol. I would recommend Houdini btw. Regarding Cinematics. Focus on real time. Learn Unreal or Unity. I recommend getting to know real time rendering.

    Hi Hugo
    There's something that I did not get : instead of defocusing 2 times, why didn't you use the fog on the character, then use PGbokeh on top of everything (char + smoke) ?

And your channel is really great to have some insight for compositing on VFX world, so well done, keep it up :)

    • @bigboygandalf4147
      @bigboygandalf4147 4 года назад

      if you have enough parralax in your shot, you can use this technique
