I had the supercharger replaced under the GM warranty. The original supercharger was rattling too. After I made this video, I had the second supercharger replaced too. The supercharger in the video also had the snout and isolator replaced on it through the GM warranty. I'm currently on my third supercharger! It seems ok so far. I put about 2000 miles on the car since I had the third unit installed. The issue is with the spring loaded isolator that's used on these particular Eaton superchargers. In time, they end up all rattling like the one in my car, unless the solid isolator is used. The units with the solid isolator don't have the rattling issue. In any case, I have warranty until 2023 on the supercharger through GM. If the unit in my car begins to rattle and knock again, I'll have to bring it back in to get yet another supercharger for the car.
@danielmorales7736 I can't say. I sold my car when it still had the rattle after GM covered a "repair". It was a great car....except for the supercharger rattle.
I had the supercharger replaced under the new var warranty that was on the car at the time. The "snout" that contains the isolator was also replaced once separately. Ultimately, the rattle returned to a lesser extent. The only known "fix" was to replace the original spring loaded isolater with a solid one. Those were or are still available from various aftermarket suppliers. Unfortunately GM declined to do this repair, and I subsequently sold my car and moved on. I wasn't interested in voiding my warranty by installing the solid isolater myself.
I hope you have better luck getting your car sorted out than I did. It can be fixed. But not necessarily with whatever supercharger that GM gives you. I had several superchargers and one front snout installed to try and fix it. The issue came back after a bit of engine run time, over and over again.
It seems to be a problem with the Eaton supercharger spring loaded isolator coupling in the snout of the supercharger. I had several new superchargers installed under warranty. Including one snout only. Put simply the issue is with a $50 U.S. part, not with the entire supercharger assembly. Mine was fixed, well sort of, I noticed a faint rattle the year after the last repair. It was then I decided that someone else should "enjoy" the car, and moved it along. If you can manage to source a solid isolator coupling, and install it, that might resolve the rattling.
@@lilredcrvtt thanks for the info yeah heard something about the coupling issue. Might get it swapped out soon . Not causing any major problems just the noise it makes Thanks for the info
It seems to be. It was an issue with the 2012 and 2013 ZL1's and the earlier Cadillac CTS V's that used the 1.9 L Eaton superchargers. Though a solid isolator was put into most 2014 and later cars with the LSA engine. That seems to have solved the problem.
That is exactly what it needed! A solid coupler. Unfortunately GM wasn't interested in doing just that simple repair. They put several "new" superchargers on my old car. They all ended up making the same noise.

With the supercharger copler solid has anyone experienced a rattle noise after a period of time?

How you fixed?

That is EXACTLY how mine sounds... Time to make an appointment I guess.. ugh.. I just got the thing!

@@lilredcrvtt Did you ever fix it bc I’m in need of help
Me too!
same problem many are having here in Australia with the LSAs . Mine rattles like this

Is the SC oil level ok?
Would a SC rebuild be worth a try?
That is a common noise for that style blower

Check the super charger coupler. May need a solid peace .
