One of those greats that was released during my Senior Year i High School. It brings to me so many memories that shall never return. Good songs never fade away.
The era unfortunately breathed its last by the next year, but it was late-November that started the change to bigger, more intrusive government and constant, never-ending war, and the start of political-social upheavals not seen in decades! That's why these songs are so precious in remembering the mid-1950s (after Korea) to pre-1964 years (before Vietnam) as the finest peacetime and economic gains era in U.S. history. This song, epitomizes almost by itself, that era of fun, small government (in contrast to 1965+), and kids freedom from over-bearing parents. We got to do our thing (ex, as on our bikes, exploring our world within a few miles in every direction) without constant supervision, and there were few abductions, kidnappings, murders, divorces, etc. as the years following started to show.

The era we grew up in was a romantic one. Hence songs like this. All of our music had a melody. Melody disappeared from music starting in the mid 80s and by the time we were into the 21st century, very little popular music had an actual melody. And the world in 2023 reflects that perfectly.
