  • Africa is home to about 2,000 languages. But talking is not the only way people on the continent have interacted. Historically, written signs and symbols - such as Nsibidi - were also used to communicate. The script has also been used in the movie Wakanda. Get to know more about this ancient system of writing in this video and join the debate by telling us what you think about Nsibidi in the comment section below.

Nsibidi is for women ... men have another secret class. WRITING IS NOT ABOUT EQUAL ACCESS in Africa. Even in Ethiopia they open it to avoid colonization .. otherwise writing will be for the people in the respective class system.
THE SPIRITUAL CLASS is the original owner of writings; then the military class may have one, then the artist/monarch / engineer class have another such as in Egypt. This is why Egypt hieroglyphics died off with the class. its class specific.
THE EDUCATION SYSTEM IN AFRICA NEEDS WORK: to call people using indigenous writing a cult is bizarre.. when THESE SAME Roman text = are clout chasin'. the same way they dont know why 💰 gold is even valuable ? they just know Africans said so.

@@cinnamonstar808 You're getting civilizations confused.. just because some African civilizations worked like that doesn't mean the whole of Africa worked like that. Nsbidi is for anyone in the Ekpe leopard society, man or woman and Nigerians weren't the ones who called it a cult it is the europeans who did and they still are basically cult if you know what they do. They aren't just called a cult because of the writing

I have come across Nsibidi through a person of Nigerian origin in S Africa. There are about 1000 signs in Nsibidi and I understand that it was used in communication. I also learned that it was not really a language or a writing system, but rather a set of symbols with an indicative quality. One cannot write a paragraph using these symbols.
