    The EX30 is definitely a contender. But even base models are some €10K more than the equivalent MG4 when optioned to a similar level (specifically battery pack).
    I see that the EX30 really kicks the Niro e into the sidelines, but I really don't see it as a competitor to the MG4.

    Rear trunk space is a total of 318L, INCLUDING the 61L behind the "false trunk floor". Info taken from the official website.
    I was almost decided to go for the MG4 standard, but this new EX30 is so sweet! The main afraid, beisdes trunk space, is rear seats space. Seems quite narrow, specially for knees.
    Hopefully I can check it personally in the upcoming weeks and decide!

    • @siasek
      @siasek  Год назад

      Yes, the EX30 looks awesome 😍
      The trunk space still remains a bit of a mystery to me ... In the Czech pricing sheet we had a 413l trunk, with 318l above the floor. And by looking at videos it sure looks like the whole thing is bigger than only 318l. Rear seat space seems okay for me, as I typically don't have anyone back there, but I do hope it's not too too tiny. Hmmm you'll have to let me know how it actually is once you see it!

    I will agree with you on the volvo UK website, it is a little obscure. Trying to find out any real details is difficult. I am currently trying to make a decision between an mg4 and ex30 so your video is very useful for me.

    • @siasek
      @siasek  8 месяцев назад

      I was very surprised at how cluttered the UK site is and how there is no detailed data to be found. It's as if it was done by someone who doesn't understand technology at all. The fact that they don't have any downloadable pdfs with detailed technical descriptions for a thorough study also disappointed me a lot. This is basic stuff! Buying a car isn't like buying bread 😅
      Which one would you say you're leaning toward more?

  • @robc7563
    @robc7563 11 месяцев назад

    I am excited about this car. Even put a deposit down. My biggest concern is the interior. While Breeze seems like it would be my favorite choice, the speckled dashboard it’s a little scary to me.
    And even the cloud blue is hard to see. Sometimes it looks like baby blue other times it looks like grayish blue.

    • @siasek
      @siasek  11 месяцев назад +1

      Nice! That's exciting. I'd love to hear your experience once you get it (if you by any chance remember this comment at the time). Personally I'm leaning most toward the Breeze myself. That interior really feels um...well, breezy I suppose 😄. Just feels nice and airy. The mist isn't bad either and I do like something about the Indigo, but overall I tend to prefer a lighter interior.
      I am certainly excited once they will be available for test drive and hope I'll get to take it out for a spin.

    I am old enough to remember when top-of-the-line Lamborghinis and Ferraris struggled to get to 60 (100kph) in under 6 secs. That makes the 7 secs or so of the MG4 impressive, and the EX30 ... erm... hallucinatory?
    I'll be happy to get either, though it looks like the MG4 + €10K of solar will still beat the EX30+€4K of solar, but the decision is a very, very tight one. Until I can put them back-to-back I don't think that there's going to be a winner. My big problem with the EX30 is the SUV factor. That is because I detest SUVs

    • @siasek
      @siasek  Год назад

      Absolutely! Those times when top-tier sports cars struggled to push out 100 km in under 7 seconds are long gone. These new generation EV are leaving them in the dust without breaking a sweat. Doesn't it feel like arguments for owning a gas-powered vehicles are becoming weaker and weaker? Looking at modern EVs, combustion engine vehicles are just looking more obsolete by the minute.
      I agree with you that it's a tough choice between these two... I guess it'd be best to test drive both to get the full story. I used to not be a fan of SUVs, but overtime I've actually come to like being a bit higher up off the ground. And the EX30 feels like a nice compromise, since it's still fairly compact

    Polestar 2 in Australia ranges from AUD63,900 to 73,400, too early for EX30. Here the MG4 ranges from AUD38,990 for 51kWh Excite to low to mid AUD50s for long range 77kWh. The MG4 X-power not released or priced yet.

    • @YSA920
      @YSA920 Год назад

      EX30 in Australia will be priced from AUD59,990 plus on roads when it arrives. About the same price here as a Cupra Born EV

    • @siasek
      @siasek  Год назад

      I drove the Cupra Born and have to say I was disappointed. The ride itself felt unrefined, I only had front speakers, which made the music sound like it was coming out of a tin can, infotainment was slow and cluttered. The EX30 infotainment is the same as in Polestar 2, so if EX30 and Cupra are about the same price, I know which one I'd choose for sure 🙂
      The price difference between MG4 and EX30 in Australia is a bit more significant though... I'm really excited about the EX30, but with that big of a price difference, I might be sticking with the MG4 after all. Thank you for letting me know! It's crazy to see how much price variety there is throughout different markets.

    In Finland the mg4 currently is going for 27900€ (350km range) or ~33000€ (435km range). The volvo EX on the other hand is much more expensive for lowest price in 36900€ (344 km range) or 42300€ (480 km range).

    • @siasek
      @siasek  10 месяцев назад

      The Luxury is certainly tempting at this price, but personally I'd still consider paying a bit extra for the Volvo because of the Google Automotive, the interior and the premium features. One thing that really irks me about the EX30 though is the lack of display in front of the driver. Not sure I could get used to that

    According to Volvo's webpages the EX30 boot capacity is 318 liters _including_ the hidden room under the boot "floor" (61 liters).

    • @siasek
      @siasek  Год назад

      Hmmm that's a bit of a mystery! The Czech spec sheet says it's 414l - with 318l on the "top floor". And from the videos I've seen, that seems like the correct figure. If it were 318l - 61l , there'd only be 257l on the top, which is almost the same size as the trunk/boot in the Skoda Citigo or VW e-up!, which are both really tiny. Just by looking at the EX30, it has to be bigger, I'd say

    • @silentjohn80
      @silentjohn80 Год назад

      @@siasek It is a bit of a mystery, I agree. I'm reading the Norwegian and Swedish webpages, which seems to indicate that the 61 liters is included in the total of 318 liters. When I use Google Translate to translate Czech information to English I get the following: "The maximum volume of the luggage compartment behind the rear seats under the removable cover is 318 liters, including 61 liters of hidden space under the floor.", which I agree sound like 318+61 liters. The Norwegian and Swedish information would translate like "The maximum volume of the luggage compartment behind the rear seats under the removable cover is 318 liters. This includes 61 liters of hidden space under the floor."

      I just watched the Zeekr X introduction, which is on the same platform as the EX30, so they're almost brothers, and there it lists a 360l trunk, which makes sense to me. But when looking at the EX30, 318l just doesn't seem like it could be the whole trunk, including the space under the floor. It looks too big for that 🤷

    The EX30 is priced to beat the ID3 and Cupra Born. ear leg room is a big deal if you are over 6ft and you have tall passengers / kids which could be as high as 20% of the population. Can the EX30 tow or can it have a roof box ? It certainly looks nice and has impressive performance for a sub £34k car beating the Cupra Born V1 which is £36k.

    • @siasek
      @siasek  Год назад +1

      I think the ID3 and Cupra Born don't stand a chance against the EX30, they're basically outdated, the infotainment is terrible, as are the materials inside. Plus they don't have any proper equipment in the base. I've driven the Cupra Born and it didn't impress me at all, quite the opposite. I found it very unfinished. I drove in with the e-Golf and felt that the Cupra Born was an inferior car in every way.

    • @RB-lt8kt
      @RB-lt8kt Год назад

      @@siasek So you prefer a Volvo with less rear leg room and why are lease Volvo's having 12V battery failures locking you out of the car (I know of at least 5 cars with electrical issues that are leased) ? Police don't like Volvo's either as they like breaking down, Skoda and Cupra top on Police likes. The Volvo has good features like it can tow, only 2 motor version but only has one size battery so limited range.

    • @siasek

      Well, rear leg room isn't that important to me.. I typically don't have more than myself and maybe one other passenger in the car. I personally haven't heard of these electrical issues with Volvos, nor do I know anything about them from personal experience, so that's tough for me to judge.But from looking at features and development, it just feels like Volvos are full of innovation while VW/Cupra/Skoda are the complete opposite 🤷
