Wish I had known, it's not far from where I live. And yes I actually went to Goodsprings Elementary school for 1 year when my dad had a crazy idea to live in Sandy Valley (back before they got their own elementary school). Long story short, it was too expensive to live out there with the economy as bad as it was in 1980. We had 3 grades in 1 classroom. We had no mantises in the playground at least. edit: now that I post this do I see a youtube video from 8 news now about this event. Sure would have been nice to know about it beforehand. It's just down the road from me in Vegas. And for anyone curious about Goodsprings back then, I don't remember much other than the bus ride into town for school. Otherwise I was never there. Sandy Valley is not really represented in game. After that I lived in Spring Valley. Closest place in game that corresponds would be about where Violet and her dogs are.
@@JimmyMon666 well if it makes you feel good old timer, it's happening every year now. Hopefully word of mouth will spread it and we'll have over 500 instead of 300 next year
This! Went on a roadtrip with my daughter up The 101 from San Diego to Seattle, never made it to the Space Needle, but sure did we make a day trip to see Snoqualmie Falls and the (fairly) nearby resort that was the interior set for the Great Northern Hotel... XD
This warms my heart. Love to see how many people gathered to celebrate the universe that I love since I was a kid. I know that I'll never have a chance to be there, that's why I'm thankful for your video ❤
I'm 17 and I can't go over there because I live in florida, however the event looks absolutely amazing and I hope anyone who is planning to go has a great time :)
My wife and I didn't even realize that it was happening. I wanted to stop by Goodsprings on our road trip and we pulled up to see dozens of parked cars. Definitely one of our nicest surprises on the road. I hope next year is even bigger!
Mr and Mrs Mantis were so welcoming and humble. Pics, videos, and autographs for hours on end and they kept a genuine smile on their face. My family is really looking forward to the trip again next year. Remain yourself man.
@@firstnamelastname2197 As far as we know, yes. The staff and community there declared this as the "first annual celebration". If you go to the section of the video introducing "Trudy" you can hear old man liver say it. He approached Mantis and myself and was discussing what they want to do better next year! Hope to see you there!
I really hope they host this again another year cause I couldn’t attend due to being stationed in South Korea with the Army. Absolutely love new Vegas and I was surprised when I saw an NCR Flag patch at a store here in Korea. Bought it instantly and I wear it properly on my Plate carrier kit.
The fact that they decided to make it a yearly thing - and increase the duration of the event - makes me very very happy! I hope I can go next year! Kuddos from Portugal!
Bethesda wouldn't do a damn thing because apparently Todd had a thing about remasters. That being said I doubt Microsoft will skip an opportunity to make money, all we need to do is convince them there is enough demand.
Back in 2015 I took a trip to the Mojave and visited as many real-life places that inspired in-game locations as I could. Of course Goodsprings and the Pioneer Saloon was on the list, as was the Old Mormon Fort, Red Rock Canyon, Bonnie Springs Ranch, Boulder City and Hoover Dam.

The playing of poker/caravan with bottlecaps made me smile uncontrollably, the dedication the community had to making this almost look like a New Vegas inspired movie set is incredible and it's amazing how alive the concept really feels when everyone is as passionate as this.
Even though I probably will never be able to attend myself, I could not stop smiling for this entire video. Im so glad that everyone had fun and it was a success. The Fallout community has always stuck out to me as a light hearted and welcoming community for the most part. If I cannot make it next year and you go, have a drink and laugh for me. Thanks for uploading this, Mantis. 😊😁
God I’m so glad it’s an annual event. There’s something so sweet about the owner just acknowledging the love we all have for the game and Goodsprings and just letting New Vegas fans vibe and connect. I teared up watching this; the world is rough right now but we can still cheer on each other’s Marty Robbins and Veteran Ranger cosplays and honor the graves of veterans. Just a really really sweet event that warms my heart, can’t wait to attend myself!
Pick up your cross and follow Jesus! The world is quickly headed for destruction, and sooner or later you will have to sit at the judgement seat and give an account for your actions. Belief in messiah alone is not enough to grant you salvation - Matthew 7:21-23, John 3:3, John 3:36 (ESV is the best translation for John 3:36). Call on the name of Jesus and pray for Him to intervene in your life! - Revelation 3:20. Contemplate how the Roman Empire fulfilled the role of the beast from the sea in Revelation 13. Revelation 17 confirms that it is in fact Rome. From this we can conclude that A) Jesus is the Son of God and can predict the future or make it happen, B) The world leaders/nations/governments etc have been conspiring together for the last 3000+ years going back to Babylon and before, C) History as we know it is fake. You don't really need to speculate once you start a relationship with God tho. Can't get a response from God? Fasting can help increase your perception and prayer can help initiate events. God will ignore you if your prayer does not align with His purpose (James 4:3) or if you are approaching Him when "unclean" (Isaiah 1:15, Isaiah 59:2, Micah 3:4). Stop eating food sacrificed to idols (McDonald's, Wendy's etc) stop glorifying yourself on social media or making other images of yourself (Second Commandment), stop gossiping about other people, stop watching obscene content etc and you should get a response. Have a blessed day!
The fact that this is a community driven event, instead of one by Bethesda or obsidian just warms my heart! I have a good feeling next year will be even bigger with the overwhelming success of this years'! I count on more youtuber support and maybe even something from bethesda and or obsidian for the coming years!
I’m so glad we got a chance to head on out and see all you lovely people! Everyone was so respectful to the town and the people in it. We hope this becomes an annual event. Sara (Veronica with her dress) was excited to see herself here. It’s a shame we couldn’t stay for the contest. Lots of love from Nephi Utah, John + Sara.
Hey man, Cole here. Just wanted to say thanks again for helping make it a great time. The people at the Pioneer Saloon did a great job, and I’m definitely looking forward to next year.
Its wonderful to see a huge celebration of Fallout New Vegas IN GOODSPRINGS itself. God knows the community deserves to come together like this and its absolutely heartwarming stuff that did bring a tear to my eye
Legitimately got a little misty-eyed watching this. New Vegas means a lot to so many people and it's nice to see the town embracing the fandom. Doubt I'll be able to go next year, but I hope the event goes well for the town.
That's amazing, it should be scheduled during "Wasteland Weekend" so even more people would attend, all showing up in their post apocalyptic vehicles and dressed in their armor/costumes.
@@jamerv86 Fallout is heavily Mad Max inspired, and Mad Max is heavy inspiration for wasteland weekend. People interested in post-apocalyptic aesthetic probably are interested in both, and if not they don't have to go
There are hacker conventions like “DEFCON” and sometime people set up lockpicking stations where attendees can learn how. That would be a cool thing to see at the next New Vegas Day. Also, you should tell people to start collecting as many bottle caps as you can find and then next year, people can exchange their cash for caps and use them to pay for the stuff during the weekend.
This was the first Fallout game I picked up at Gamestop years ago, and I never stopped loving it. If I had known this event was a thing, I would've traveled all the way from Chicago to Goodsprings (by fast travel duh)
Broooo, I also picked this game up at Gamestop albeit begrudgingly. I originally waited hours In line during black Friday to pick up what I thought was gonna be a discounted Skyrim. Got angry and picked up New Vegas as to not leave empty handed. Best. Decision. Ever.
Was so jealous looking at all the photos, it's so wonderful to see people come together to celebrate the best Fallout game and one of the best games of all time. Will hopefully see you there someday hahah
The characters looked absolutely awesome. It was funny seeing a Legionary and an NCR soldier standing next to each other, almost like they’ve come to Goodsprings on a momentary truce but ended up having some good times in the process. Someone should do something like that as like a comic or animation!
Far too broke to have taken a trip down to Goodsprings, so I missed it unfortunately. Glad to hear they’re planning on making this a yearly event! Small towns like Goodsprings could always use that extra money! :)
Really happy you, the other attendees and the people of Goodsprings had a great time. Looked like a wonderful event and what an amazing turnout for it as well. Really hope I can make it down there someday but until then this was a great glimpse into how a gaming community can have their cake and eat it too

Overall good vibes and i hope this event can continue year after year bringing over to Goodsprings old and new visitors and it's also a way to help the small town. Afterall they need the revenue. Excited to see what's in store for next year.

Man I was in Vegas that whole week but never heard of this going on! I'll definitely make it out next year though. Those costumes were amazing to see. Can't wait to see how the second one goes and October is a great time of year to do it
Seriously brings a tear to my eye, that so many people would come from so far and wide to enjoy the desert and the comradery for this amazing video game. WOW I REALLY hope they can do this again.
This made me so happy! I am so glad its coming back this year and that I'm not the only one getting emotional watching this. I hope it always goes this uneventfully.
That looked like such a cool event! I wish my life was in order so I could attend to an event like this, but also not be kind of socially awkward, lol. It's amazing to think that an event like this could happen and everyone got along with each other. As the Fallout franchise has taught us, factions have a lot of influence on how things go in daily life, and war...war never changes...
This made me smile so much and made me emotional, you can really see the love and passion everyone has for fallout and you can tell that the atmosphere was amazing, I will make it to this event one day
I love this so much. This reminds me of Wasteland Weekend, also in Nevada. It’s more Mad Max than Fallout, but it’s a pretty big event. It would be cool if this becomes an event that could afford to cultivate the same energy and scale, but I just hope that Goodsprings is taken care of and that it doesn’t overwhelm them. Honestly if a lot more people showed up, it would have probably been hell for the residents to try and accommodate everyone. You know they were struggling already because 10x the amount of people than they expected showed up. It would be a good idea to have areas set up for people to camp out and be able to buy lots of food to cook themselves in the camping areas with prebuilt firepits or grills. That would help with the demand next time. But they really should get a gauge next time by setting up tickets to come, they don’t have to be more than $1 but it would help them know how many people to prepare for.
As a New Yorker the trip was just too long and expensive for me to make. I'm so glad this is an annual event because I will definitely plan on making it out there next summer
Hey, I finally found some footage of myself! I'm the guy at 7:24 in the welding goggles and gray headscarf, next to the guy with the purple shirt and green bandana (I'm also in the background at 8:52). It was an honor to meet you, Mantis (I was that guy who recommended you check out Degenerate Dak!) Much respect, from "Condor".
Well, this was just a lovely video. Contagious sincerity. Nice to see people doing positive things with their love for FNV other than arguing which faction is better on reddit lmao
I'm playing through New Vegas for the first time currently, and incidentally I'm also going to visit Nevada, Utah, and Arizona for the first time early next month, so my trip plans have very much been shaped by my love of the game. I hate that I missed the event, but if it was still going on, I would have borrowed my brother's roman armor and worn that while quoting npcs far too much haha "Ave, true to Caesar".
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Las Vegas will always be my home and the fact that this was a monumental success leaves me teary eyed and stoked for everyone that got to attend! I pray that I'll get to go if and when it's set up for the future.
This was an awesome event! Thank you for spreading the word and hopefully me and the Legion boys will have that battle next year! ( I was the goofy looking legionnaire with the black helmet). 😃
I visited Goodsprings last September while driving from L.A. to Vegas, and it was a nice moment to see the actual place on a sleepy Sunday afternoon. I'm pleasantly surprised by the size of this event. This is more than just cosplay. This embodies the spirt of one of the greatest games ever made. Well done!
When I started watching this, I was thinking of the graveyard and hoping it was all respectful . I'm so happy to hear about what they did! Amazed me. I'm hoping I can go the next time
It was such an amazing event, can't even put In to words how much I loved it. Biggest thing I could say is, Goodsprings feels like a home to me now and all who showed up feel like family. I'm real grateful for the event Steve and the others put together, and just as well, thank you mantis for posting about it, if it wasn't for your posts, I probably would've missed it. Glad I was able to meet and get some pictures, along with finally find out what tks meant. Flying from Seattle I definitely had no idea that my day and life would be changed like this.
DAMNIT I WISH I KNEW ABOUT THIS!!! I pray this becomes an annual event!!! I will definitely be there next year with some friends! New Vegas is a cherished game in my circle. Would love to spend the day appreciating it at such a supportive event!

Nothing like a group of video game fans being insanely respectful and generous to a small business at an event!
🙂
This warms my heart. Love to see how many people gathered to celebrate the universe that I love since I was a kid. I know that I'll never have a chance to be there, that's why I'm thankful for your video ❤

I'm 17 and I can't go over there because I live in florida, however the event looks absolutely amazing and I hope anyone who is planning to go has a great time :)
I love to hear that the community is generous with their tipping.
I don't have any metal bottle caps though. I'm actually not sure what the exchange rate is with USD to bottle caps in that area lol.
when he said they tip generous i felt that
My wife and I didn't even realize that it was happening. I wanted to stop by Goodsprings on our road trip and we pulled up to see dozens of parked cars. Definitely one of our nicest surprises on the road. I hope next year is even bigger!

@@firstnamelastname2197 As far as we know, yes. The staff and community there declared this as the "first annual celebration".

Hopefully Bethesda will take notice of this and finally remaster this game. I hope this is a yearly celebration like I've said before.
they know, that's not on bethesda but microsoft
Bethesda wouldn't do a damn thing because apparently Todd had a thing about remasters. That being said I doubt Microsoft will skip an opportunity to make money, all we need to do is convince them there is enough demand.
@Crimson Fury Bethesda re-released Skyrim so many times but they won't remaster the best game ever that they have the tools to do!? That's crazy, bro!
We don't need an official remaster. We have mods.

I know quite a few Wastelanders were at this, most of them are from Vegas and LA
You'd probably get some Mad Max fans as well
Why should it? They’re different. Like saying medieval need to mix with renaissance.
Great ideas indeed
It’s so awesome to hear that everyone was super nice to the staff AND were respectful to the cemetery.
This was the first Fallout game I picked up at Gamestop years ago, and I never stopped loving it. If I had known this event was a thing, I would've traveled all the way from Chicago to Goodsprings (by fast travel duh)
You have to discover it first.
Oh and you better not have hardcore mode on for that distance.
Make sure there’s no enemies near by so you can fast travel
Broooo, I also picked this game up at Gamestop albeit begrudgingly. I originally waited hours In line during black Friday to pick up what I thought was gonna be a discounted Skyrim. Got angry and picked up New Vegas as to not leave empty handed. Best. Decision. Ever.
Was so jealous looking at all the photos, it's so wonderful to see people come together to celebrate the best Fallout game and one of the best games of all time. Will hopefully see you there someday hahah
So glad to see people come together to not only have respectful fun, but also support a small community out in good ol NV!
Also thanks for your amazing coverage
The characters looked absolutely awesome. It was funny seeing a Legionary and an NCR soldier standing next to each other, almost like they’ve come to Goodsprings on a momentary truce but ended up having some good times in the process. Someone should do something like that as like a comic or animation!
Far too broke to have taken a trip down to Goodsprings, so I missed it unfortunately. Glad to hear they’re planning on making this a yearly event! Small towns like Goodsprings could always use that extra money! :)
I clapped when I saw the Marty Robbins cosplay. Thank you for this. I'm sad that I didn't know about the event. This is awesome!
Really happy you, the other attendees and the people of Goodsprings had a great time. Looked like a wonderful event and what an amazing turnout for it as well. Really hope I can make it down there someday but until then this was a great glimpse into how a gaming community can have their cake and eat it too
It’s awesome how the people of Goodsprings embrace the fame, especially the owner of the Pioneer Saloon.

That looked like such a cool event! I wish my life was in order so I could attend to an event like this, but also not be kind of socially awkward, lol. It's amazing to think that an event like this could happen and everyone got along with each other. Thanks man! Beautiful film and narration you did! I'm def gonna try and make it over there next year!
This really makes me happy to see.
New Vegas deserves this kind of love.
As a New Yorker the trip was just too long and expensive for me to make. I'm so glad this is an annual event because I will definitely plan on making it out there next summer
It's super incredible that you multiplied the turnout so much! I'll have to keep October of 2023 on my mind until the exact date is decided!
