You guys are such a fun duo to listen to all the SW drama! I also love each of your solo takes! Such great points brought up. I especially agree with Senior Perspective when she says Robyn would never take the blame for a breakup with Kody (or anyone). It would be that “daddy doesn’t give his blessing, sorry.”

I wonder if the reason that they met a coyote pass when Meri was leaving was so that she could “look at the mountains”.

Kody tried again and again to get her to want to look at the plans. As they were having such a deep conversation. As if at that point, it means anything to her. The truth is he could not do this without Mary‘s money he knows it. He then tried to give her even less than she deserved.

@@colleen1219 Kody at the "look at the mountains" picnic table was Kody's attempt to get Meri to build him a barndominium so he could house stuff he does not have a place for & a car. Meri was expected to live in a small loft apartment above Kody's crap. Meri at the time, rented a $5,000 a month 5 bedroom house with an elevator. The property is raw land. In order to build even a shed, the infrastructure had to be resolved. No electric, water, sewer or septic, roads, gas or propane. That in itself would cost $$$$ that Kody does not have.

I have zero interest in polygamy lol, but at the same time, I think Mr Joe and his wives gravitated to their principles. They have concepts they want to live and demonstrate to their children, and from the small pie slice we saw on the show I think they did? Their strength was that they participated but didn't need to make their family a continual spectacle. 🙂

It’s like flogging. You need pain to be pious.
Logan would have either married (one woman) to get out. Gwen, Leon (just bc she knew she was gay, not transgender yet)all of Janelle’s and most of Christine’s wouldn’t choose polygamy(not sure of Aspen at the time)wether they stayed in Lehi or Vegas.most attended college or forces. Those are open eyed situations I believe Dayton won’t do polygamy, Aurora will find a non Mormon man. I’m not sure of Briana, she’s more frail and dramatic like her mom. Ariel is to demonstrative to share a man. I think the boy is going to immolate thru Kody, which is a shame. But not seeing polygamy thru their teen years will decide their choices. Also they’re taken out of that community, so they’re not getting the full pic. There is no like minded people. That’s why they keep to themselves to not see options. Kody did a disservice to his pod by taking them out of that. But his ego and PD took over and he thought these ladies would keep their faith and continue serving him. That’s why Robyn keeps her kids close. She wants the control of the narrative amongst her kids so she can intervene right away to discourage any other thinking. She’s been in the real world. She knows how it can go and the choices you can make that can change your destiny. She’s not a helicopter mom, she’s a control freak. She is living vicariously thru her kids. She thinks she’s going to help them make all the right choices. But I’ve seen parents who shelter their kids and when they get out in the world, they go nuts to experience everything.

Maybe the show was a chance to get out of poverty. The Browns before the success of their show were poor. They used government benefits, bankruptcies,
kids experienced food insecurity & yet Kody thought taking on a divorced woman with 3 kids from her 1st marriage & over $30,000 in shopping debt was a great idea.

The Brown polygamy show was NOT, when presented 1st season, about plural marriages with some 13 to 18 kids suppose to implode & bring a real stink to the polygamy belief system & life style. Originally the wives are happy about Kody the means well but is a goofball man that they are ALL married to & having his kids like he is populating the world for polygamy.
They all lied about polygamy & were in fact unhappy that Kody mostly was a drive-thru dad & sometimes attentive husband but they were all just happy to live the life. It was the outside world that was the real threat. Correct in Utah polygamy either in a compound or even a polygamist filled town practice polygamy & the government officials mostly look the other way or are involved secretly practicing polygamy themselves.
Kody was never this special unicorn poly husband & Dad who doted on all the kids & all his wives. He loved saying "wives" all the time as in I have all these "wives". The wives worked jobs, Christine was in child care & had an evening job, Meri worked but could only have one child which makes her tainted because she is infertile.
Kody pretended to ask about IVF when wife #3 was in labor & about to give birth to his 13th (neglected) child. The doctor was not impressed. Kody said I have other "wives" & one needs help to get pregnant while baby 13 is about to arrive. The hubris of Kody is off the records. He had just come back from kissing, on film, his potential 4th wife. He called her his girlfriend. Kody gives her an intimate kiss as his 3rd wife is in labor at the hospital. Not a pretty picture & him kissing a woman not an official wife.
18 Seasons in & the whole Brown experiment in polygamy has imploded & tragedy happen when one son passed away. This family is permanently done.
One wife is legally & happily married. Another has online clothing business & a Bed & Breakfast, one is coping with the grief of losing her adult son.
So the Browns were not really afraid of facing consequences of cohabitation that made Kody flee Utah for Nevada & eventually they moved to Flagstaff, AZ.
The show is a disgrace & Kody Brown has publically trashed his 3 wives & about 13 kids do not communicate with this guy. He has 5 kids (3 adopted) with Robyn wife #4 who is not his only legal wife. They have used money from the former wives & TLC to finance a great lifestyle which because they spend money like water is seriously in jeopardy.
Not a great presentation that polygamists hoped Kody Brown would present to the world.
I know way too much about the Browns & wish I had never watched them.
The one diamond in all of this are the 13 kids (many now married & some with kids) who are independent of their father because he turned his back on them. The kids always were the best thing about this reality TV show. The early seasons where they had birthday, holiday celebrations with all their kids was nice to watch. But, polygamy as a way to live: NOPE.

Though the LDS (Mormon) church dominates Utah, the Sister Wives were members of the AUB (a Mormon fundamentalist church) which still practices celestial plural marriage (polygamy). The LDS church banned polygamy in the 1890s so that Utah could become a state because the federal government required it for statehood. So basically Mormon Fundamentalists like the Browns practice an older form of Mormonism that has been disavowed by the rest of the community and for decades was extremely frowned upon.
Utah also wrote the bigamy laws (typically written for when a person has a legal marriage without divorce or annulling a prior legal marriage) to where bigamy in that state is when a man has more than one wife, even if only one of those marriages is a legal marriage. That law was still in effect when the Browns came out as polygamous (not sure if they are still in effect).
Also if something happens in a known polygamous family (like a child getting hurt) people in charge of investigating these things can be tougher on these families. In the early 2000s, the Darger family had a baby that died mysteriously. Turns out, she had an undiagnosed heart condition that the pediatric checkups missed, but the family was put through the wringer during the investigation. Most of the questions asked were about the polygamy. So while it may seem like overkill, especially now, I can see why the Browns were worried back in 2010.

There is no way Christine wanted Robyn, Christine didn't want the other young 17 yr old girl, and Christine was not going to be in the family if the young 17 yr old joined, Kody married Robyn and Christine knew her type, she wanted the man- not the family!

I don’t think the shunning in Mormon polygamy is as vital as Amish people. Mormons have other sects to run to. Christine’s family still spoke with her. May not be the other way around. Many Christians feel they are persecuted also. I have a friend that was mortified that someone had the audacity to put a billboard up about being an atheist. She couldn’t believe it was legal. In other words, everyone should be a Christian. I brought up, there are many more Christian’s symbols all over than just one billboard(which I believe was done for this point. Wasn’t up long)crosses on hills and Mts. Churches with crosses on steeples and sides of bldgs.,on signs along roads etc…than anything about atheism. But she was appalled which didn’t tell me you are that persecuted if you thought atheist aren’t allowed to express themselves freely. This attitude is taught in the churches to insure they fight the fight to keep their church intact. Last time I looked, atheist don’t go door to door preaching or out of the blue ask you if you have not accepted a denomination? Just doesn’t happen. Religion is a choice and you should be happy you live in a country where it is legal to choose your own sect of Christian or Jewish or Mormon or Muslim and Catholic or any other cult. Stop with the drama!
I think Robyn didn’t want her kids to go bc she wouldn’t be able to control the narrative. I’m surprised Aurora was able to go to college. Christine didn’t want influence of other religions. Or non religious. My family wasn’t real religious so I attended Jewish functions, Christian, Catholic
and Mormon. Later we got involved with Hindu and Buddhism, which they don’t consider a religion, more of a philosophy.

I like your comments. Yes, there are Christian symbols everywhere. Mostly a cross or crosses some draped with white cloth to represent the clothing Jesus wore when crucified.
We have separation of Church (any religion) & State for a reason. In this country you can have any belief system or you can be secular or atheist.
Recently read about 25% of the US population have NO religious affiliation. You do not need a religion to be a moral or ethical or just a nice & caring person.

They’re just as critical of Janelle and Christine- the whole point is to try to analyze between the lines as THEY see it. I’m sure there are plenty of creators that have a different take, yet you stayed long enough to write this sanctimonious comment, ‘threatening’ to tune out?

@mwest3191 I actually left 15 mins in because I used to like this channel so I figured I'd give it a chance. And they are most definitely not just as critical of Janelle. In fact I left right after it was said that she could understand Christine's belief system because she was raised in polygamy but was unsure that Meri was being genuine in her polygamist beliefs. That makes no sense as Meri was also raised in it and has a long family history tied to polygamy. Meri definitely was indoctrinated. Even the other wives have said that Meri had a strong faithfulness to her polygamist Mormon belief system. Whereas Christine is never bashed for wanting to be the third and last wife because she knew that the last wife was the favored wife and she lost that favor when Robyn entered the picture and that's really where the problem began for her. She's also incredibly over dramtic and cringe. And at this point the nacho pics while she is supposed to be happily remarried are just childish. And Janelle chose polygamy because she thought it would be fun. So she pursued a relationship with her sister in laws husband and then tried to marry him on Meri's birthday. And then played herself by investing all of her assets in to kody while he laid up with Robyn in a mansion and she lived in a camper. And then fawns over him like he's so sexy and hot and he won't even give her the time of day because it's obvious he sees her as his sugar momma. No one bashes her for that. They can do no wrong. They'd rather critique Meri's every breath. They bash Meri for the mistakes she made while being young, naive and emotional while navigating an emotionally, mentally and verbally abusive relationship. It's weird to me. But you go ahead and enjoy.

    • @g.flesch9731
      @g.flesch9731 Месяц назад

@@mandykelley4883 Their are plenty of critiques of Meri that are not favorable of her & many have given the reasons why. Meri was a control freak when she had the favored 1st wife position. Even on how the other two wives should store their fruit. She took more than her fair share of money - when it was 3 wives - and her one child got more food while the other 12 ate stale bread during leaner times before this reality show.
Christine did want to be the 3rd & last fun wife for Kody. Kody fell hard for Robyn & Christine was more than angry about that & did not like her rival.
I think she needs to stop with nachos nonsense. She is married to a man legally & why she keeps bringing up stupid Kody stories makes me wonder that she is still using Brown branding to make money. She has a B&B supposedly decorated with photos of the Brown family (?)
Janelle did not like Kody favoring Robyn but she did a huge mistake in giving Kody money for the Coyote Pass property & the mansion for Robyn & Kody. She got burned & is the only wife without a home. Sure she is wishing she had done things better for herself & her kids.
Not one wife or Kody is an example of how to live ones life. Polygamy has been stamped with a solid NO. So Kody failed to be that shining star of a polygamist husband & father. Even worse he enabled Robyn to destroy his marriages & influenced him to turn his back on his 13 kids with the former wives.
