Please don't beat yourself up internally about the pricing, you have to eat and live. I'm not an artist, but I dabble in art and programming. When I talk to people in/outside of the "entertainment industry" they have almost no idea about how much time things take. People complain about paying $60 for a full triple A game, let alone traditional art. I think everyone's just hurting for money right now and it has nothing to do with your amazing art.
I prefer for the camera to be zoomed in. I’m an artist myself and I like to watch other artists to understand how they draw. I really admire your art and I love watching you draw, it’s very therapeutic!
I'm a traditional artist unfortunately I stopped doing my art when I was 18. But I'm 46 years old I'm watching you digital artists make your way. It has inspired me to get back in hopefully one day have my own RUclips channel as well. Digital art rocks...
when you were drawing the hair i really thought i was being hypnotized, that was so satisfying! edit: about the pricing situation, sometimes when i tell my friends that draw about your art and i mention commission prices, they say that its understandable for art, but whenever i tell my non-artist friends they say its a lot. your prices are completely ok, people that complain about prices are most likely not realizing how much effort and time was taken to draw that piece. you work hard, and ive been asking my parents if i could commission something as a Christmas gift. I love your art, and i hope you feel better about the situation :)
I have been struggling in the same way with getting slots lately! I've done freelance for a lot of years now and it's honestly kind of validating to hear about other artists struggling with the same thing sometimes. thank you for sharing your feelings about it transparently, it means a lot to hear! Hope things get better for you and I'm glad that we are able to help out by watching your channel ;w;
That's really sad to hear that there are still schools with teachers who have yet to adapt to the current times. I'm thankful that the college I'll be attending has courses that specifically focus on digital art. 🙏🏽💖
as someone who charges $40 for a full colored waist-up, i still get discouraged & havent really promoted my commissions for most of the year; on top of my burnout. i LOVE when you talk in your videos about other art-related problems and other issues, it's comforting to see we all relate to one another. to answer your question, zoomed-in is the best!!
I know that is hard now, but at the same time you inspire people. An example is me! You really inspire me and I am sooo happy that I found you. Because of you I started to get out of my shell, you're the first artist to make that impact on me! I hope you will continue to do what you do cause it's amazing!😊❤
I'm really lucky to have an art teacher who also does lots of digital art. And although a lot of our projects are traditional, any drawings are able to be submitted digitally as long as we ask first. So excited to take digital art class next year😊
I really agree with you on the instagram comment and any comments on any sites for me in general. I a very sensitive llama and I always do my best to stay calm and be strong, I think you're artworks are worth just the right amount or more! Keep up the great work
Just wanted to say as someone who’s an aspiring artist and is learning I love watching your videos and seeing your process! It gives me courage and it’s just sk therapeutic and safe feeling watching your videos and seeing you create these cute art pieces ! You inspire me so much and make me want to practice everyday to get on a level that you’re at. So glad I found your channel
I really enjoy these draw with me videos and It made me feel comfort when you talked about slightly more personal issues with art and pricing, like cathartic in a way
I think I prefer watching your videos with the camera zoomed in more. I also love seeing your cute background items, but overall I think I prefer seeing smaller details we might miss if it was zoomed out
My preference is that you should show some of your Procreate followers some love, and do draw with me with your ipad. Also love to see how you use your procreate brushes
i love your art, your style is so soft and comforting to look at and to watch your process!! you’ve also inspired me to be more loose and messy in my art and it’s a lot of fun, keep doing what you do 💖
I love watching you render a whole lot, especially because you have a messier style. I get really hung up on making everything look clean to a fault, and watching you helps me think about how to loosen up my process. Your art is more than worth the prices your discussing as well. Keep your head up and stay creative ❤
thank you so much for this vid!!! i like to set sth in background while drawing and for the longest time I couldn't find vids that would feel right and then I stumble upon your vid and it's perfect! so thank you again!!!💖🧡
2:52 outlining is definitely a hard and a lot of people can relate to it, sometimes you lose movement or charm while transitioning to outlining. so a lot of artist keep their original sketch in the final product.
Charge your worth!! You’re so good at what you do. As a artist myself, it’s so much that go into doing a commission. From references, the amount of TIME it takes to draw the reference you’re drawing, line art, coloring, rendering, etc.. I barely do commissions because I’m still figuring out prices, working on improving as well. Commissions are stressful I understand lol
Okay idk if it's just me but, while watching this I was procrastinating do my homework and ones I put this on the comfort of a listening to them speak and occasionally looking up at the screen I've never felt more comfortable 😁👏🏽. Absolutely love your art and keep it up 💪🏽
Question on the start : I prefer just lisening since I’m doing my work for geting in to art school. But sometimes it’s good to see more of your set up but I like the combined videos. + your vice is so nice pls keep creating these videos.
I'll be honest I clicked on the video because of your style, but I am really glad I did because your art is so inspiring, and you're such an honestly amazing person. You have definitely earned a new subscriber.
Just wanted to say as a costume designer/sewist I would absolutely LOVE to see you draw historical fashion! And I agree with you, drawing masculine figures is hard...I mostly find men's historical dress to be less fun to draw in general haha
All your talk made me realiized how lucky i am in the career i´m persuing right now (a degree on Animation and Video Games), cause most of the art has to be digital or digitalized. Befores entering university, i had the same struggles about the digital art talk with other people and in social media. But now i want to believe that there are not a lot of those comments nowadays. Love your art style btw
That fear and shame in sharing your art is something that really resonates with me, deeply. I have always been terrified of people seeing my art. I used to have such a passion for drawing, but I became ashamed and afraid. Now I'm trying to work on that and build a social media presence, in the hopes that I can open commissions some day.
I like it zoomed :) Also don't listen to those people! Your art is worth it and very very well done! It's the same as a high end clothing store with high quality clothing selling t-shirts for $95 and leather jackets for $995. I personally couldn't afford it if I didn't work there but the clothes are really amazing I never wear anything else now. Some people buy certain things based on their affordability but all recognize the quality of the product.Your product is high quality and has been honed for many years. That being saidI think your prices are fair especially with inflation and your needs.
29:40 my ap art teacher and i actually recently had a whole conversation about the rejection of digital art in schools. he said that he thinks discouraging students from pursuing art digitally is very dumb, considering how everything is connected digitally now. he said that even if you were to pursue more traditional art, chances are you'll be "sharing it online via a screen." he also said that he just thinks these teachers underestimate the amount of opportunities there are for artists who do artwork like yours, and i very much agreed with all his points. also, good luck with getting commissions, i hope all goes well for you! you have such lovely work!
I totally relate to what you said about fanart, I actually go through the same exact feeling and problem that you have mentioned but I still try to do fanart once in a while just to tell myself to let loose. Though personally, I still like drawing original arts instead.
I did actually struggle with drawing fanart for a while! One of the things that helped me were drawing ugly little doodles of the characters im drawing. It was fun so I didn’t feel as pressured to make my art perfect!
Don't ever lower your prices for people! There will always be complainers and hagglers but people who truly value your work will be willing to give you what you deserve and more
Take it one step at a time, I know its difficult right now. Don't second guess your prices because it will get better. You don't have to change your prices due to the comments. I'll be sending you good vibes. I really enjoy your videos so much
" I just draw pretty girls for a living." Like most professional artists paint through time 😊~ Don't worry about it. Analogue and digital illustrators share that point in common. It's just what sells: paintings/drawings of people's pets, their portraits and beautiful ladies. As for the price, it's not too much and I don't think you should change your price for cheaper. Good luck OvO~b !
Your art is literally so gorgeous I'm obsessed with how you color. I also 100% struggle with the fanart thing and it makes me so mad bc I have so many characters that want to draw and fully render but I literally cannot draw fanart if it's not a commission where I force myself to sit down and interpret this character, or loose doodles that I don't allow myself to spend time on bc they're not commissions and the grind is real.
I completely relate to your feeling of embarrassment or self conscious when talking about what you do. Fortunately for me my class was a digital art and media class but honestly it wasn’t very drawy but more adobe photoshop, and illustrator focus with more vector art and photography projects. And I had a similar situation with my teacher asking what I do… and I was so hesitant and embarrassed to say I do twitch emotes and badges 😭 cus I just feel like it sounds so stupid!! So I completely agree with you and understand that feeling. ❤️
i feel that.. in my design class we were learning illustrator too and when i expressed that im more into character design, i was kinda shot down by my professor bc he would rather talk about compositional design. so i just sat there thinking, everything he's teaching me can be applied to character design yet he chooses to ignore it. very frustrating
Oml ik this is a bit late but I love your art sm and listening to your rant while I draw. It's just so nice to hear someone rant about stuff I can relate to as a digital artist. You've helped me figure out what I want to do college-wise since I've been stressing out about it and you've helped me so tysm! I really hope you get commissions soon! :)
I really hope that you’re feeling better regarding your art and pricing. Your art is SOOO BEAUTIFUL ❤💖 you’re one of my favorite artists. I really hope everything gets better for you 😊
The issue of digital art not being included in many schools is a frustration i can understand, as well as the anxiety that the craft you love and use frequently isnt seen as valid. However, i can also see why schools would still mainly use traditional ( or encourage the use of traditional) because for as long as ive been a digital artist, nothing compares to regular pen/pencil and paper for me. I've noticed, for myself, that when i work digitally i dont take the time to understand things nearly as well or as long and often im just fixing and fixing, and adding and adding onto it where in traditional ive often felt a more clear of a stopping point. In traditional ive learned much more about color, light, line and design than i think i have digtally but that is just my thoughts and opnions :)
I love to draw but it's also very hard at the same time yet even so my love for drawing will never go away I also have wrote a story for a comic idea which I personally enjoy although I don't know what their hair style is going to be yet but I wish you luck and I hope you continue to draw More
I prefer zoomed in because it immerses me in the drawing process and I like seeing the details, but I wouldn’t mind the idea of having something like a face cam, but for your setup instead, like a “setup cam”. Then we would be able to see the whole piece as you work on it as well❤
This is an old video, but about the digital art not being "real" or not having meaning, I think that all art is art (minus AI art but that's another topic) and it's not about the meaning behind the piece necessarily, but the emotion and feeling that it has, or the character. I don't know if that makes sense. Also I love your art so much it's so colorful and cheerful!!
I like it most when its zoomed in but its cool when you switch it sometimes for a little while and then you come back with zoomed in (sorry if what I just wrote doesnt make any sense, Im trying)
I’d recommend doing a Black Friday deal (or something similar) for a limited amount of time to try to get more commissions. I don’t know if you have a store or not but making smaller items like stickers usually sell well ^.^
I have the exact same problem whenever I'm not used to drawing a character I end up accidentally replicating the style of the reference instead of drawing in my own style 😅 you're not alone
Oh I know the pain of loosing footage or not having the one too well. But it's all my cats fault I swear they're distracting me all the time haha Love your art, just started my journey into all the social media art stuff and it's really inspirational to watch you draw ✨️
ahhh i also relate to that awkward feeling of telling people about my art in the sense that they won't really get it?? I look at the stuff that i draw, and sure i could draw landscapes or realistic portraits but it's not my go to. but at the same time, it's what a lot of people in the previous generation think of when they hear "artist". Most of my journey as an artist i thought i just didn't want to share my art because it wasn't as good as i wanted it to be, but i think another part comes from wondering if i'm valid for simply drawing characters and stuff in a nonchalant way as opposed to drawing something more profound?? hmm...
I have the fan art problem as well. I love making fan art, but whenever I do it I end up giving up because I can’t make it look like them. Btw I’m a new sub and I love your art!!
this drawing was so good i was rlly interested in how you talked about your prices, at first when i seen people pricing their art commisios like a 100 dollars i was like DANG thats a lot of money for art but like i kinda get it me and my family barely getting by but i cant sell my art bc im not that good but if i was older when i get a job i will help my mom and hopefully make an anime or comic
i like the zoomed out look if I'm not trying to look at it fully and I'm drawing along. Mainly i watch it closely so i think zoomed in is better though.
Whenever ever I see you drawing it feel like your hand glide smoothly and your line look's smooth too but whenever i draw my hand starts to get hurt and my lines also don't looks smooth who do you do it like rest or keep your hand on the screen so perfectly like you draw those stars that looks so simple to do it.
4:30 yeah lol like everytime i have a reference for a character pulled up im always trying to copy the style its in ;-; for me, my art is still growing a lot so imo this helps me but i understand that it also gets in the way sometimes as well lol
Man, it sounds really tough to be in a situation where a lot of people are speaking negatively of you. I'm so glad that I'm helping you just by watching you here! But I think from one standpoint, I kind of understand why commenters might be saying the pricing is too high; for one, I feel like much of the audience could be too young or oblivious to understand how the price could be tied to the artist's needs, and how much time, effort and skill the artist puts in for a piece. Perhaps you have already done this, but it would be nice if you could explain to your audience on Instagram how you came to the price (just a suggestion tho!). For example, you can note that you would spend 8 hours on a half, fully-colored body but you only charge $10 per hour. Then they would understand that you are actually being underpaid and that you deserve that price point, if not more, and stop judging so quickly. sorry this is super long, but thought this might help ;-;

Commenting for the algorithm 💖
What app do you use to digital draw?
I prefer for the camera to be zoomed in. I’m an artist myself and I like to watch other artists to understand how they draw. I really admire your art and I love watching you draw, it’s very therapeutic!
Yeah I can agree with that 👍

As always, great work! I personally prefer the close up. It definitely influences the desire to want to draw with the artist.
Your art style is so cute!
I really agree with you on the instagram comment and any comments on any sites for me in general. I a very sensitive llama and I always do my best to stay calm and be strong, I think you're artworks are worth just the right amount or more! Keep up the great work
you are really good at verbalizing things, like listening to you explain things is just really calming and i don't know why 😭

the hair coloring is so mesmerizing to watch!!!
I like the combo of zoom in and zoom out
Heya! I personally like it when it is closer to your screen, but either way it looks nice :>
I think I prefer watching your videos with the camera zoomed in more. I also love seeing your cute background items, but overall I think I prefer seeing smaller details we might miss if it was zoomed out
I like the zoomed in angle but I also like seeing you're setup. I like how to combine the both.
i like the vlogt type feel- but the variety in you switching between is fun!!
Omg I love your art it's so unique and colorful
I watched many of your videos that you talk over while you draw and i realized it helps me draw way better. So thank you :D
I really like the way you draw eyes and your lineart
My preference is that you should show some of your Procreate followers some love, and do draw with me with your ipad. Also love to see how you use your procreate brushes
I like zoomed in but both is good! Also I love your style it's super awesome!!

My art school is very chill with digital art 🎨
I love watching you render a whole lot, especially because you have a messier style. I get really hung up on making everything look clean to a fault, and watching you helps me think about how to loosen up my process. Your art is more than worth the prices your discussing as well. Keep your head up and stay creative ❤
I love this drawing
i discovered your channel yesterday and you have since become my new favorite comfort youtuber
I love your art. It’s beautiful and relaxing like your videos 🥺☺️

But sometimes it’s good to see more of your set up but I like the combined videos.

Oh my gosh, Yes!!! Historical Romance is my favourite kind of romance. I'm excited to see what you'll do with this concept in your style. 😊
"I just draw pretty girls" this quote will be engraved on my tombstone
Super late, but hey I'm one those people who goes and binges a person's channel but I prefer both zoomed in & out, it really adds something😎
I'll be honest I clicked on the video because of your style, but I am really glad I did because your art is so inspiring, and you're such an honestly amazing person. You have definitely earned a new subscriber.

Ur art is so stunning. I adore the way u render
With that thing about lining, maybe you should try using the the sketch as the line art. I been doing it for a year now and it worked out great!

I don’t know if you have a store or not but making smaller items like stickers usually sell well ^.^
4:27 I STRUGGLE WITH THIS A LOT!! But I also finding myself liking it a lot more when I don’t look at the reference I understand the struggle
I have the exact same problem whenever I'm not used to drawing a character I end up accidentally replicating the style of the reference instead of drawing in my own style 😅 you're not alone
Oh I know the pain of loosing footage or not having the one too well. But it's all my cats fault I swear they're distracting me all the time haha
Love your art, just started my journey into all the social media art stuff and it's really inspirational to watch you draw ✨️
ahhh i also relate to that awkward feeling of telling people about my art in the sense that they won't really get it??
I WAS JUST HOPING YOU WOULD POST. Also I prefer when it’s zoomed in. Just because it’s hard for me to focus on what to watch.
i like the zoomed out look if I'm not trying to look at it fully and I'm drawing along.
Man, it sounds really tough to be in a situation where a lot of people are speaking negatively of you. I'm so glad that I'm helping you just by watching you here!
But I think from one standpoint, I kind of understand why commenters might be saying the pricing is too high; for one, I feel like much of the audience could be too young or oblivious to understand how the price could be tied to the artist's needs, and how much time, effort and skill the artist puts in for a piece. Perhaps you have already done this, but it would be nice if you could explain to your audience on Instagram how you came to the price (just a suggestion tho!). For example, you can note that you would spend 8 hours on a half, fully-colored body but you only charge $10 per hour. Then they would understand that you are actually being underpaid and that you deserve that price point, if not more, and stop judging so quickly. sorry this is super long, but thought this might help ;-;
First of all, beautiful work
I prefer the zoomed in look :]] also 3:47 I do the same thing adssdhjkljljl I thought I was the only one lol
