By gaming standards Minecraft has a pretty damn good fanbase, but when it shined was particularly 2015 and then maybe early to mid 2016. It started to die in popularity in 2014, which made people target the game. But the fanbase tried to fight back, failing badly. Then a cycle began to form: People hate on Minecraft > Fanbase hate back > People make fun of the fanbase >>>>>… (and repeat)
