Since I was 9 years old and bought the In Rock album I only knew Hush. So I grabbed the Album for $3.50 with my Newspaper Route Money. I put the Album on my GE Wildcat Stereo and Speed King came on and I blown a way. Then Child In Time was sad but powerful and it took awhile at that age to realize just how damn good it is and always will be. Still haunting at 60 years old. I have never ever got tired of Deep Purple. I love it as much today as 51 years ago. No fake Instruments or Voices. Just rate talent that came out and kicked your ass.

All I have to say is the UK has produced some amazing bands, especially back in the day! This is when music WAS music! Love Deep Purple. All the bands from the UK from the 60's and 70's just blew everyone away! Now you both can understand why I love classic rock. Like the two of you, I was born well after all these amazing bands came out. If I had a time machine, the three of us would go back in time to see all these bands in concert. We have missed out on so much. Ian's voice reminds me of Robert Plant's voice, back in the day. I had a feeling the two of you would love Deep Purple as they sound a bit like Zeppelin, in some of their songs. People might disagree with me but that is okay. Another great reaction video, ladies. I enjoyed this one for International Monday! Keep the musical journey going and tell your dad thank you for this selection.....awesome choice! Love and blessings! 💖

You girls are so sweet and your reactions are lovely! They do indeed deserve a standing ovation, and so do you! I'm so touched that you gals are discovering and appreciating music that this old lady grew up with!
This was in 1970 and originally about the Vietnam War and the other Cold War conflicts, as well as the ever present threat of nuclear war.
I often have musical dreams, and I've dreamt this song all the way through while it tears me up emotionally, just as it does in real life. It's tragically timeless because it fits every war, every terrorist attack, every crazed shooting ever. The screams are so intense and the occasionally rough sound so fitting that even though it makes me cry, it's still a masterpiece that I can't help but listen to all the way through once it starts.
I was 7 years old in 1970, and am so glad I grew up with Deep Purple and all the other great bands of that time.

But no-one talks about the incredible bass of Roger Glover and the superb drumwork of the hardest working drummer ever, Ian Paige. This was the very first supergroup ever. Each of them was a master in his field and they will never be equalled.

It’s great to see you appreciate the great talent of these awesome musicians. Purple was a frequently & loudly played band here at the house, to the chagrin of my neighbors. Time has only increased my respect for them, especially Jon Lord & Ritchie. I love Jon Lord on Hammond organ, especially that B-3 with a Leslie speaker. Took lessons in the 60’s but didn’t hear this until 1973.

Si quieres apreciar la verdadera dimensión de Deep Purple mucho mejor en vivo...., Made in Japan, Made in Europe, In concert..., etc. Saludos
y bienvenidas a la familia Purple

Something I learned in college, great bands (Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, etc.) received classical instruction in music so that "classic rock" has the same structure as something written by the likes of Beethoven, Handel and so on.
    Intro
    First verse
    Second verse
    Instrumental interlude
    Third verse
    Coda (finish).
The original Deep Purple lineup, Gillian, Glover, Blackmore, Lord and Paice were world class musicians with a classical background. If you want to learn to play an instrument excellently, follow them and if you want to write music excellently, closely examine song structure and how the instrument lines blend together.

This song, in fact the entire album "Made in Japan", kept me relatively sane when I was about your age. Also check out a live rendition of "Highway Star". As someone else commented below, Ian Gillan left the band for a while and was temporarily replaced by David Coverdale who later formed Whitesnake. Bassist Roger Glover was replaced by Glenn Hughes, who also happens to be an incredible singer in his own right. Check out "Burn" recorded live at California Jam in about 1974. Rock on!

I'm glad these young ladies are discovering the great music of the 1960s and 1970s. As much as I like music from the 1980s and 1990s, it just doesn't compare.

I was 19 years old when I heard them for the first time, it was the summer of 1970, it impacted me so much that I could never stop listening to them, I had the L.P. vinyl as if they were food for my soul, I still keep them and my last breath in life will be while "Child In Time" plays. Thanks Ian Gillan and the rest of the band, Ian Paice, Roger Glover, Steve Morse and Don Airey.

We felt the same way you did when we first " reacted" to them. They are a group of outstanding musicians. Now you know that there are a lot of vocal monsters out there 😎.
    Hope you keep on 👍🏼!

This is just incredible. Deep Purple in Rock is a Masterpiece. Started my journey into heavy metal. Glad you loved it. But girls, you still have to do Victim of Changes by Judas Priest. Again, it's epic with other worldly vocals.

Me too! In Rock is my all time favourite Studio Album. I was 9 years old when I bought the Album with my Newspaper Route Money. I bought it I think for $3.50. The only song I heard of Purple was Hush. I really liked Hush. When I put the album on my GE Wildcat Stereo and Speed King came on I was blown away and so where my parents Ha ha! Memories. I bet you are like me. If I had a dollar for every time I was told to turn down the music I would be wealthy. I went to Headphones and my hearing is still great at 60. If your parents liked your music you were listening to the wrong stuff.

I find it remarkable that you guys listening and reacting to this 50+ year old song!! I enjoyed watching YOUR reaction, as I was on the first concert after they recorded that album! I am still a loyal Deep Purple fan and in my humble opinion the vocals from Ian have never been topped in rock music! Jon Lord was the finest pianist and departed far too early! Deep Purple - rock on for the next 50+ years!!!

The admired organ is a legendary instrument, the so-called "Hammond" organ, which is purely mechanical. It is characterized by the ability to produce a full tremolo. This is created by rotating speakers. For many years this was the only way to hear a tremolo; except for the human voice, of course.

A lot of great information in the comments here,so I will just say that I knew you girls would love this song. There is no finer vocalist in rock, than Ian Gillan in his prime. You both are astute enough to realize the talent of all the others in the band also.Probably the most talented all around rock band of their time. This is the kind of song that still sounds great 50 years later and both of your responses are proof of that. I enjoyed watching.

Goood band & so different than what expected. You're right about Blackmore-
huge influence. A lot of members through the years. Ian Guillen and Jon Lord and Ian Pace era. Suggested below. Highway Star, Stargazer and the iconic Smoke on the Water.. And yes, the blow you away! Insane is a great way to describe. Enjoying the ride!

For more Deep Purple I highly recommend Sometimes I feel Like Screaming (Live). It's a "newer" song of theirs, first album with Steve Morse as my guitarist. Steve Morse is my favorite guitarist of all time and believe him to be one of the best, with little commercial recognition.
