AAAAAAA holy smokes was not expecting such a massive reaction, thank you so much everyone for watching and for enjoying the video!! A couple people suggested I put some socials out, so if you wanna see where I'm at elsewhere, I'm below on IG and Spotify. Instagram: instagram.com/nathanalarsonmusic/ Spotify: open.spotify.com/artist/0UuuLj339XADyuYCrk4GPM?si=zE21EWACTP28M1YcIEGx6A
@nathanspacemusic Holy shit bro, you made some fantastic work in less than a year. I kinda dreamed about some old Lego games in another art style for years. Thanks for doing it.
My favorite kind of project, while the donut tutorial is fine, i feel like learning blender based on things personal or projects personal to you really helps one get to the finish line for stuff like this, either way nice to see Alpha team getting some love
I love how the animation being slightly janky adds to it, brings it a touch of PS1 authenticity. This was legitimately great, and I cannot wait to see what other projects you have in store!
A lot of the rigging issues you were talking about around the 13:30 mark are actually just limitations of such low-poly geometry. This is a pretty ambitious project for someone so new to blender, and boy did you pull it off! Well done
i kid you not, i clicked on this video expecting to be on a page with a few hundred thousand subs. after watching, i can't believe you dont have millions by now. love the content!
This deserves way more views man, this is amazing. I recommend linking some socials or a discord so people can stay up to date as I wouldn't want to lose your channel :)
You really webt for it fully! Very impressed! I'm afraid you discovered a fundamental part of rigging, at low fidelity you can barely ever get good hips or shoulders, it's not just you, it's extremely hard so often people settle for tricks or good enough. You can see this kind of stuff in shipping games of the era. To some extent this also applies to elbows and wrists
clicked on this expecting a game dev video, but stuck around for the animation!!! not usually something i'm interested in but this video got me hooked. animation looks awesome :)
This is incredible and you had my attention with the title, but what really won me over as you documented your process was your meticulous planning and development: the thought and surgical intention that went into redesigning the setting and characters, especially regarding reference material and the 'feeling' you were setting out to evoke, speak volumes about the richness of your creative process. I'm certainly biased because I also played the heck out of all those Lego flash games growing up, but the beginning and end of this video are not what I liked most: thank you for providing a glimpse into the journey.
As someone who has been wanting to learn how to do 3d models properly to eventually animate, this was insanely inspiring. The cutscene turned out amazing, I can 100% see it being apart of a real game
Gotta say man, I'm super impressed. As someone who does want to get into stuff like 3D modeling and such, this is a really interesting look into the process of what happens behind the scenes. I will definitely be keeping some of those resources you mentioned in the vid in mind when I eventually start trying stuff like this for myself. I also want to highlight your sketches at 4:33 they look pretty dang good, the artstyle is neat as well. (One final thing, 0:24 I know that was most likely a small slip up, but Bloodborne didn't come out on the PS3, it was on the PS4. Again, I know that was most likely an accident, it's perfectly fine, but I wanted to mention it anyways in case someone still hadn't)
Not only was the final result AMAZING, but your process was EVEN COOLER! This is beyond impressive and i’m excited to see what you choose to work on this future
You nailed the character and background with the texture painting style you went for. I would really love it if you showed in one video an in-depth walkthrough of that process, especially since we didn't get to see how you did that for the submarine
holy shit this rocks!! I've been wanting to learn 3D modeling but i always get too scared at the prospect of learning them, but this does make me feel like maybe i can too. as a lifelong stingray fan i also really appreciate how you acknowledge that you made the models move differently from actual stingrays, it's a detail so small even i probably wouldn't have even noticed, but i think it's really cool you mentioned it. especially because i love any excuse to watch some stingray footage :D
As someone who made a RUclips channel out of Blender and uses it almost constantly, (just realized I have Blender open as I am typing this) it can really be quite challenging to learn for beginners. Once you become proficient at using it, Blender can be super rewarding. Nice video by the way, it was super cool seeing your way of approaching things. Also, the finished result was sick!
Alpha Team rules! I really liked your thought process through the whole thing and the way you transitioned the minifigs to looking like people is really great. It’s inspiring to me because I’ve drawn a few of the characters as people and your take has given me a new perspective on how to go about it. Great video, man!
@ I like how tough and gritty you made her look. I wouldn’t have thought to design her that way, but you made her really cool. I know the Alpha Team has documented some character’s design inspirations (especially Dash), but since non-licensed Lego characters are all yellow, it leaves a lot to your own interpretation of what kind of people they can be. If you ever go back to the Alphas, I’d love to see the rest of the team designed this way. Cheers!
I can’t begin to express how much I appreciate this video. I also enjoy trying to recreate very old obscure games or snippets from them, but with way less impressive results. I really enjoyed the video!
hey we got the same art tablet, i'v been trying to learn it too, trying to simply run into it and breaking blender somehow. thank you for making this, it's helped me have hope towards making my odd stuff work. (in a thousand years probably)
Your passion for this project comes through in everything you talked about. I'm so glad you finished this project, it looks awesome! I hope you continue to learn Blender, the obstacles you came across in this project will become easier. 12:55 My guess for the two rigging issues you highlighted: The axis of the bone for Radia's wrist may have been misaligned and the hierarchy of the bones may setup incorrectly. That man has no ass because the bones bend the mesh without consideration for mass distribution; blend shapes are best to resolve this. 14:03 I'm so glad you used Blender's Compositor! Node Editing is scary and I won't claim to understand more than you do. However, it really does give that extra 20% that makes your animation look perfect. I'm excited to see your next project, best of luck in your animation journey!
as someone how want's so make something outside Lego animation, this style is something I really wanted to try at some point, and you nailed it. This is incredible and really inspiring. I really hope you continue your work as an animtor to get better and better in the future
Love this video. This is a great example of the floating point texture wobble that many people forget when emulating ps1. The audio is also amazing. Fantsatic job all round. Youll go so far.
You've been working like a champ animating this with no rig controls or blend shapes to help. Amazing job limiting yourself like this, because the techniques and creative solution you've developed will be used in your future projects. Well done!
This was phenomenally well made, as someone who's been working in blender for 5 years I am unbelievably impressed at how amazing the quality of this project is!
Your editing is honestly very impressive. I would have thought you were getting a video out every few months with how well everything is organized. Bravo, my guy.
You really put your heart into this project and it shines in the final result. Incredibly inspirational, thank you. I've actually been hesitant to learn Blender animation because of how daunting it looks but after this video I feel like even starting with a low-poly project like this would be such a learning experience. Amazing work!!!
Just earned a sub. This was really impressive stuff. Your end animation looked exactly like something you’d see out of a ps1 game. Can’t wait to see more!
Man, you are an Inspiration. With a capital I. As an animation student, you renewed my interest and motivated me to continue doing blender (my school uses maya but I wanna use blender cuz I don't wanna pay for the subscription for maya if I don't really need it. Also I wanna have lifetime access to edit and view my models and files)
This video is so inspring! I find myself in a artistic block, but seeing all the process adn progress that you made for this video it's marvelous. Very happy that RUclips show me this video.
AMAZING!!! Honestly inspiring! thank you for linking some tutorials that helped you, as the doughnut tutorial was frustrating for me as well, who wanted to do similar thing with a low-poly aesthetic similar to the one shown here; definitely gonna check some of this out! (also veri well made; the texturing you did was gorgeous)
This turned out amazing! It's honestly really inspiring how you took something and just ran with it. I look forward to seeing what else you put that talent towards in the future!
AAAAAAA holy smokes was not expecting such a massive reaction, thank you so much everyone for watching and for enjoying the video!! A couple people suggested I put some socials out, so if you wanna see where I'm at elsewhere, I'm below on IG and Spotify.

I watched this whole video thinking it was by some massive youtuber, just to see you had 877 subs. Highly underrated
totally nailed the feeling of an old ps1 game, i was almost expecting actual gameplay after the short ended
Worth maybe making a colab with someone who does ps1 design games.
so cool getting to see this whole process. definitely looks like it belongs on the ps1
3 months of work, and man, this looks gorgeous.
Oh dude I wish it had only been 3 months of work, I actually started this project at the start of 2023! :P
@nathanspacemusic Holy shit bro, you made some fantastic work in less than a year. I kinda dreamed about some old Lego games in another art style for years. Thanks for doing it.
De qual mangá é essa ft de perfil?
@onioncutterninja1535 yofukashi no uta, there's an anime adaptation too. It's on Netflix if you are interested.
My favorite kind of project, while the donut tutorial is fine, i feel like learning blender based on things personal or projects personal to you really helps one get to the finish line for stuff like this, either way nice to see Alpha team getting some love
i really enjoy how this video genuinely displays a guy trying to figure out blender, it feels so human. love it
I love how the animation being slightly janky adds to it, brings it a touch of PS1 authenticity.
This was legitimately great, and I cannot wait to see what other projects you have in store!
this is the most goddamn thing i've ever seen
A lot of the rigging issues you were talking about around the 13:30 mark are actually just limitations of such low-poly geometry. This is a pretty ambitious project for someone so new to blender, and boy did you pull it off! Well done
Man Lego games were so so good back then even if they were simple flash stuff. The nostalgia hit Hard.
the final animation turned out so great!! it’s impressive how much work went into it, great job!
i kid you not, i clicked on this video expecting to be on a page with a few hundred thousand subs. after watching, i can't believe you dont have millions by now. love the content!
This deserves way more views man, this is amazing. I recommend linking some socials or a discord so people can stay up to date as I wouldn't want to lose your channel :)
Went back to Spybotics again myself, the games on their site from around then (the Bionicle game, Junkbot etc) kicked so much ass
You really webt for it fully! Very impressed!
I'm afraid you discovered a fundamental part of rigging, at low fidelity you can barely ever get good hips or shoulders, it's not just you, it's extremely hard so often people settle for tricks or good enough. You can see this kind of stuff in shipping games of the era.

clicked on this expecting a game dev video, but stuck around for the animation!!! not usually something i'm interested in but this video got me hooked. animation looks awesome :)
A strong start to the journey. I too want to embark on an animation pipeline project, big inspiration.
This came out looking awesome, holy shit! Good job, and great video!
the sonar being in time with the music in the final product is incredibly satisfying, good job!!
And let me tell ya, it was an absolute accident that that happened hehe :P
This is incredible and you had my attention with the title, but what really won me over as you documented your process was your meticulous planning and development: the thought and surgical intention that went into redesigning the setting and characters, especially regarding reference material and the 'feeling' you were setting out to evoke, speak volumes about the richness of your creative process. This is insanely well done for a first Blender project, huge congrats on this
As someone who has been wanting to learn how to do 3d models properly to eventually animate, this was insanely inspiring.

LOVE this, Nathan! I’m so happy and proud of you for bringing your passion project to fruition. Truly aspiring!
Not only was the final result AMAZING, but your process was EVEN COOLER! This is beyond impressive and i’m excited to see what you choose to work on this future
Unreaaaaall! Great work Nathan!
"Better than it probably has any right to be"
Do love me some of that sweet 1990s PS1 low-poly jank, it's always so charming
this is amazing work brother!
got the old gen feel perfect imo
You should be proud of this! It's so so awesome; if you told me this was from a real lost game I'd believe it.
You nailed the character and background with the texture painting style you went for. I would really love it if you showed in one video an in-depth walkthrough of that process, especially since we didn't get to see how you did that for the submarine

Thanks dude! Oh literally, you have no idea how long I laboured over how to colour Radia's hair :P

the 3d alpha team game from 2000 was so sick. love that game.
I can’t begin to express how much I appreciate this video. I also enjoy trying to recreate very old obscure games or snippets from them, but with way less impressive results. I really enjoyed the video!

I'm SO impressed by how well you executed it
7:08 Was not ready for LEGO Alpha Team to play HOT TO GO! 😆
I remember there was a Lego game with the same set of characters that I played as a kid. I think it was a puzzle game.
This is so fuckin' cool. Subscribed.
This is the most obscure thing you ever could have recreated, and yet it is so cool.
Makes me wanna learn blender
Love this video. This is a great example of the floating point texture wobble that many people forget when emulating ps1. The audio is also amazing. Fantsatic job all round. Youll go so far.
This is the boy equivalent of when every girl I knew magically learned HTML to pimp out their myspace profiles.
Great job
You've been working like a champ animating this with no rig controls or blend shapes to help. Amazing job limiting yourself like this, because the techniques and creative solution you've developed will be used in your future projects. Well done!
this is so impressive and cool. I've been obsessed with old ps1 aesthetics lately, you captured it 100%
This was phenomenally well made, as someone who's been working in blender for 5 years I am unbelievably impressed at how amazing the quality of this project is!
i'd love to see some mission deep freeze stuff like this, it looks amazing!!
Your editing is honestly very impressive. I would have thought you were getting a video out every few months with how well everything is organized. Bravo, my guy.
Dude, this is awesome! Congratulations on finishing such an ambitious project! I love videos like this
You should be really proud of yourself finishing any project is a big achievement 🎉 and it is inspiring 😮
Lego Aqua Raiders was so good! I remember playing the flash games on the Lego website.
crazy yt pull, congrats on the video
You really put your heart into this project and it shines in the final result. Incredibly inspirational, thank you. I've actually been hesitant to learn Blender animation because of how daunting it looks but after this video I feel like even starting with a low-poly project like this would be such a learning experience. Yoooo this turned out sick! Amazing work, how do you only have 580 subs?!
13:14 “This man has no Ass” 😂. Also you should do a funny video of all the blooper animations if you have them saved.
Lego Spybotics (at 00:50) was such a good game. Great video!
Lego alpha team ruled. I had the 3D pc game, never knew about the flash game. Good work!
Wow the endresult is really good! Thanks for sharing the proces with us! 😄
Hey thank you dude and right back at you, I absolutely love your work!!
@@nathanspacemusic Appreciate that! Looking forward to your next project!
Not even a minute in and subbing for showing me Flashpoint! Ive wanted all the original lego flash games easily accessible and here they finally are!
actually super helpful and inspiring for someone learning to make similar low poly blender animations
Great job !
crazy good
Man, you are an Inspiration. With a capital I. As an animation student, you renewed my interest and motivated me to continue doing blender (my school uses maya but I wanna use blender cuz I don't wanna pay for the subscription for maya if I don't really need it. massivly underraded
this is amazing
Why do I want more of this!? This is so cool, and the source is a Lego flash game that came out before I was even born!
Very inspiring! Everything about this is terrific, but the final animation is of course the best part. Well done, it turned out amazing!! :)
Fantastic project and process write up! Keep going!
Great video! i was shocked when i saw the view count. I can already tell this channel is going to be huge
Dang that's epic
Dude this is underrated
somehow the original voices fit the aesthetic.
That came out looking fantastic! It looks like a legit old game
This video is so inspring! I find myself in a artistic block, but seeing all the process adn progress that you made for this video it's marvelous. Very happy that RUclips show me this video.

You got the goods man. Don't let anybody tell you different.
That...was incredible!? honestly felt like it came straight from a game on the PS2 i want to play it
This turned out amazing! It's honestly really inspiring how you took something and just ran with it. I look forward to seeing what else you put that talent towards in the future!
so incredibly well done
Them being human and not minifigs is still accurate anyway so it was a good choice
Very nice
Wait that looks so freaking cool! Genuinely, I was staring the whole time at the screen in complete awe. Absolutely amazing work! ^-^
Truely Inspirational, i am definitely going to take a swing at this!!
This was amazing, cant wait to see what else you end up doing with blender
