Since falling in love with the View-Master, one thing that's always fascinated me about stereo photography is that, if the images are sharply focused, the viewed 3D image looks even sharper than that.
Say what you want about 3d being a gimmick, but I got more depth from this cross-eyed video than from many IMAX 3D experiences. There's definitely something to having the depth to the video, it really makes sense especially with scenery. Very good job on this.
@@los-and212 Yeah, and the angles between them. Let's suppose you place the cameras like eyes are placed on bird's head. Then you actually could see what birds see. But their brains probably process such images differently, so we would see something weird, since our brains are accustomed to see with eyes placed like all humans currently have.
This is just amazing. I already exercised to manually focus/unfocus without moving the eyes, so it was easy for me. This looks so realistic ! It's soooo much better than 3D in cinemas. I could watch entire movies with this.
I have a very different effect when using manual focus instead of crossing eyes; since manual focus seems to be much more unstable and sensitive on noise, I often get a more blurred up image. It also depends if I go "upwards" or "downwards"; not sure how to explain - but also the size of the resulting picture is different. And with crossed eyes, it's always at its minimum size, with a noticeable density in details and overall sharper image (that occupies like 20% of my FOV but oh well lol)
If I had to guess how it’s done, I assume you just lag one video behind the other? Since each shot is a smooth lateral pan, the two perspectives are just a second or so apart in the shot. And I guess adjusting the delay adjusts the apparent scale of the scene; a larger delay will make the scene seem smaller. It’s a fantastic idea, brilliantly implemented.
Pretty good with magic eyes, to anybody struggling on a phone you're probably holding it too close. Hold it farther away than you would for a static image.
That's what I was looking for, real video footage and this one is of the highest quality though I have to keep my head further from the screen than I'm used to but definitely worth it! 🙂 0:38 the sun shining through the house looks so real.
Man this video should have millions of views. Maybe if more people knew how to do it then it would. Oh shit I hit the 3d cross eye mode so hard that the keys i tapped while typing this message looked 3d.
Great video. Though the focal plane distance could use adjustment as I find it annoying to have the display so far away for a clear 3dimage making the result very small.
It does. Each image will represent an eye, so to achieve the right offset you need to delay one image or the other to match the virtual position of that eye. It depends on the direction the camera was moving.

@@rr.studios yeah, my eyes were hurting. And after reading your comment I stopped the 3D cross eye streak all along, and I'm probably never watch the cross eye video again, since as they say: "better safe than sorry"
I viewed this video first as intended - crosseyed, it was mesmerising... and then i decided to view it the way you view a stereogram, instead focusing into the distance, and my brain wasn't happy at all with having the depth perception in reverse.
This video convinced me to go to my computer to watch it. Stupid iPhone Dynamic Island, which I normally don't notice, got in the way of focusing properly
Thank you for making this video and sharing how you did it in the comments. I will try this out sometime and maybe link you if I am successful. It's an enjoyable viewing experience.
My guess is that one video is slightly delayed, before the cuts that is, to simulate different perspectives, am I right? You know the drone speed, so you can calculate how much time it needs to travel eye distance and then delay the right of left (depends on which way the drone moves) by that time
You're correct. This is only possible because the camera is always moving sideways and the landscape is pretty much stationary. Very elegant technique!
Cross-eyed definitely the best. Red/blue tends to look like cardboard cutouts, and you can't see the colors as well. Cross-eyed you can see the leaves.
I think the thing that keeps tripping me up is that not all of the objects are in focus. Objects in the foreground are fuzzy and out of focus, just like they would be in real life if you were focusing on something in the mid- or background. The trick to watching this video (besides crossing your eyes, of course) is to focus on the background and let the fuzzy foreground trick you into thinking you're actually there.
So many of these have the same issue, they have the "eyes" switched, causing the foreground and background objects to invert depth. It's a simple fix, just swap the videos... very very rarely do I find one where this isn't an issue...
It takes me a long time to see certain 3-D images because I had strabismus (crossed eyes) when I was a child w corrective surgery. My eye muscles don’t want to cooperate w certain image positions
you don't have to cross your eyes!! cover your eyes with your hands so that your right hand covers the right half of the screen, and the left hand is covering te left half of the screen. Then your right eye sees automatically the left picture and your left eye sees the right picture! This is easy and you do not get an headache!
Wonderful 3D movie. Do you use a special software to adjust and align the two images ? I am trying to make 3D films in an FPV drone with 2 GoPro cameras.
I can focus and unfocus like another person I saw manly too, here's a question why does it look very realistic? watching it with glasses is easier for me because I have terrible eyesight is that okay?
You know when you look at something close to you, the objects in the back are double because you cross eye a little. Even that happens in this video if you look at something that is closer then the backround will get double and if youlook at the backround the front object is double.
Part of the problem with cross eyed 3D is the fact that once you cross your eyes properly your mind will perceive three images and only the middle one is 3 D. I find it helpful to hold up my hands in front of my face about 2 or 3 inches apart so that the left eye only can see the right image and the right eye can only see the left image. Now when you cross your eyes properly your mind will only perceive one 3 D image in the center... Or better yet take a black piece of paper with a three inch square cut out of the center and hold it in front of your face so that each eye can only see one of the two images. This will relieve the eye strain normally associated with 3D cross eyed image viewing, especially if the image is a video. Once you are perceiving one composite image instead of three you can relax and enjoy the effect without the need to ignore most of what you are seeing..
Man, this one is just impossible for me probably because on phone and full screen the aspect ratio is wrong for cross-eye 3d. I can do it if I don't full screen but then what's the point.
I didn't even need to cross eye with this video,I stared into distance when my phones distance made the two sides overlap each other and made the third one in the middle, then I looked at my phone without focusing my on the actual distance I'm looking at...adjust your phones distance for visual clearance...

Why 3d movies are more "3d" than real life? Or it's only me?
It depends on a couple of factors, one of them being the screen size. The smaller the screen, the more "3D" things look
Depends on the distance between two cameras ,
@@los-and212 Yeah, and the angles between them. Let's suppose you place the cameras like eyes are placed on bird's head. Then you actually could see what birds see.
