What does it mean, "Maple does not like as much water?" What happens with too much water? Is this true only for birdseye maple or for any maple? I was planning to make my next build maple back and sides and I want to know what I'm getting into. Thank you for sharing.
too much water will allow the maple to continue to move. It works best to just be damp. I have seen maple literally bed so hard that it was useless. I am not sure but I guess it must have something with the way the wood cell in maple is configured. What makes wood bend is the cell collapsing. I think you will be fine just don't overwet. The wet paper technique will be fine. Think Damp not dripping.
