    Many thanks for the video and well done on reopening the line, I hope it can be fully reopened down to Carlisle one day! Lack of sound is irrelevant, I'm just glad to see the route...

    Thanks for this. Most enjoyable. And thanks to the North British for building it in the first place. Now let's crack on to Hawick.

    A great video. We emigrated to Australia in 1955 after living in Innerleithen on the Peebles Loop Line. Another sad closure. I do remember Waverley, Galashiels stations as well as Hawick and also travelling on the Waverley route as a wee lad. This video brings memories back after all these years. Thank you!

    Great to see old lines opened up, long may it last! An awful lot of track for a few light commuter trains or is something else in the pipeline?

    One day, possibly quite soon, someone will regret those single line bridges....

      Plan is to double the line in it's entirety when opened all the way to Carlisle. Expensive mistake I know,but makes sense in the long term. Typical shortsightedness though when phase one was opened.

      It goes to Millerhill then eventually reconnects to the ECML between Musselburgh and Wallyford.

    I'm assuming the empty platforms is why Beeching closed it in the first place.

    • @toffeeblue2201
      @toffeeblue2201 4 месяца назад

      Beeching didn't close it. He had resigned by 1965 , this line closed in 1969.

      I don't know if you remember but there was this plague thing going round back in 2020 that meant no one was travelling. In ordinary times, the line was very well used and is going back to being so. They've been having the exact opposite problem - overcrowding

      No secrets, it's just not fair to burden the driver with knowing their voice will be in the video - they've enough to concentrate on as it is! ^Angus

    Nice video but shame about the lack of sound. What’s the problem including what the driver is saying to his mate? There are quite a few videos of the Australian XPT where the driver is only too happy to give a running commentary as he drives. Or was it a condition to allow you to film that there be no sound?

    • @ScotRail
      @ScotRail  3 года назад +2

      It's the distraction risk that knowing you'll be in the video could pose, Martindyna. ^Angus

    • @Martindyna
      @Martindyna 3 года назад

      ScotRail Sorry I’m not with you, how does having the mike on make the driver aware he is being filmed? I could understand it if his voice would identify him to his employers. Perhaps some cameras make a beep when commencing recording?

    • @ScotRail
      @ScotRail  3 года назад +2

      It's because we fitted this camera specially - the driver agreed to it being there. ^Angus

    • @Martindyna
      @Martindyna 3 года назад

      ScotRail Thanks. I assume you mean that being listened to is itself a distraction like I can’t be myself on the phone talking to a friend if someone else is listening in on our conversation.
