- After all those long vids that just came out how bout a little quicky! Lets have a look at what you have to do if you get a used OEM radio from the salvage yard and it is blink "THEFT LOCK"

I miss the old days but that's why I'm here...to learn and maybe even justify my own scanner. But not the Snap-on, that's way beyond my pay scale or capabilities. I'm really happy that the new one is working out for you. One less headache in the shop.
Big thanks for this video! I had an 04 LeSabre with a theftlocked radio. My MP808TS didn't have the "setup"option for the LeSabre. I then remembered this video and manually identified the vehicle as an 05 Aztek and used the "setup" option under there. I figured I was worth a shot, and wouldn't you know it worked like a charm to unlock the LeSabre radio!
TRIED THIS ON AN 05 SILVERADO WITH MAXISYS ELITE. WOULDNT WORK. NO RADIO SETUP OPTION I'LL HAVE TO REMEMBER YOUR FINDINGS AND TRY IT ON MY NEXT GM ADVENTURE
The way iv done it is to call the dealer and talk to the parts department and give them the serial number on the radio and they could give you the code to unlock it manually, worked for me in some cases,not sure it works for every car.I have the Autel scanner and didn't know this was possible so thanks Eric for the heads up.

Those Autel scan tools are sweet. What they can do constantly surprises me.
I put a GM navigation radio in my 2006 GMC sierra. Worked great in ACC mode, but when you went to start it "theftlock" appeared on the screen. It took the GM dealer 5 min to unlock it to the tune of $150.00. What a rip.

I think you used the autel so you wouldn't break the verus pro and end up with a middle finger screen. good quick vid.
My Verus Pro never had a problem before I got the Verus Edge but it's always nice to have 2 scanners with different capabilities. Nice touch comparing both. That radio made me laugh b/c it always starts off with a little prying and then frustration takes over and they give you the radio in pieces.

Thanks for the tip bro.. Had to do a salvage swap on my 02 cavalier and used my shops Matco scan tool to unlock the radio. Good thing i still have the original RPO codes in the trunk.. Now i can jam out to some Avenge Sevenfold on the way home !..!,

I don't know about the 05 Aztec but my 05 Grand Prix You have to buy a bundle of not so cheap add ons to install an aftermarket radio if you want to keep the onstar, warning chimes, retained accessory power steering wheel controls etc...

I see in a recent video that you have the Bosch ADS 625. Have you done the same with the Bosch. I am curios as i have the Mac MDT10(made by Bosch) and i need to do a 2010 Acadia radio. Thanks
Out of curiosity I tried this w/ a Launch as well. It has a radio section but not a setup option. The Launch does have a few shortcomings but as a backyard mech it was still a good investment though. Alternative is to either pull the lock chip out or if you have a hot air station swapping them should work too to avoid the "config error" msg.
Launch has radio setup as well as VIN matching, x431 I don't know which you're using..

Have a question about the Autel 908. It can unlock radios, can it also program the PK3 systems? Considering getting one of these units. Can you possibly go into what you do like and not like about this particular unit? Other features?
looking for info on 99 suburban about to disarm antivtheaft or if I have one because I was play w the radio and my vehicle stopped running for Nova patient reason.in my book .I really don't know to much about or what the problem not be at this point. but would like to eliminate the anti lock thang 1#s befor replacing a bunch of parts it not needing .if you know what I mean.do you know how I can do this 1st.??????

on my 2003 buick my radio anti theft light is flashing now and never done this before. yet the car runs great and the radio flashing light goes off when I start the car. so it there a way to deactivate the anti theft so the light stays off liker it did before. what I'm concerned about is if that red light goes steady on and locks the radio some day , will it also mess up the cars other functions like not start?

you should have gone with the aftermarket radio that has the pop out 32" display. that's pretty cool both tools can do that.

I praise you for using the factory radio in this GM. I can't stand aftermarket radios in GMs especially because they remove the door chime yes I know you can get a box to make it do the door chimes but they usually sound crappy.
+sms373 I have an aftermarket radio in my 04 Envoy and I have the door chimes, well, when you do it right you keep the door chimes.

Did this with the cheaper autel ms906. Seems to set it up and unlock it until you cycle key and its locked again.

Great quick fix why would they put a anti theft lock on radio no crook wants a cheap radio anymore they want what you got in the bank or more.
What good is unlocking the radio with the autel if it doesn't give you the unlock code? When that car battery dies, the radio will loc.

Eric in my Jeep Grand Cherokee which is a 1999 if I want to switch to the 2004 navigation radio I know I'm going to have a radio recognition problem how is that done on a Jeep Grand Cherokee if you can please let me or others know out there that have Chrysler products that need similar operations done I'd really like to know how it's done thank you as always great videos .
What computer did u use and model
Around 2003 and later, the brand new GM radio eprom chip is blank, once the vehicle is turned on for the first time at the factory, the BCM(body control module) finds the radio, its then programed to the VIN# of the vehicle, therefore "locking" it to that vehicle only. The "data bus" connection to the radio verifies the radio at every vehicle startup and allows it to turn on only if the feedback info from the eprom chip is correct. These high dollar scanners, as seen in this video, can actualy reset the eprom chip back to zero VIN, so when the radio gets installed into a different GM vehicle, within a set number of years of course, along with similar radio wiring connections, once again, the BCM comes into play and reprograms the radio for that vehicle.

i believe you can get an advanced obd 2 code reader by using a smartphone and a bluetooth obd2 reader. the app for the phone is like 150 or something like that and you can get the bluetooth obd2 adapter for 20 or less.

No self respecting car radio thief would get caught stealing that hunk of junk radio. The theft protection is a joke.
It is funny how the only radios with anti-theft stuff are the cheap junk OEM radios. Had a flat battery on my son's 10 year old Nissan that locked the radio, and we didn't have the code. Dealer wanted £55 (Around $80) to give us the code to unlock the radio worth £5 at a push!
Funny how the early 2k's GM's I've seen lately have more security for the radio than the actual ignition. Just sad
