      Solar guitars are made by Wildwood, which I think is pretty behind Cor-tek in reliability and consistency. Schecter are made by both, Cor-tek and Wildwood. Cort has a series called G, which is basically the Ibanez AZ models, costing like 1/3 of the price. It's insane that no one talks about that. Probably some distributors politics bullshit or something?

    My biggest issue is it’s 25.5 scale. You are basically locked into playing Drop A at the lowest. 7 strings should always have a 26.5 to 28” scale. You can play beadgbe or you drop 8 semitones if you like without issue.

    • @tarkenton3895
      @tarkenton3895 6 месяцев назад +3

      You're so right. I love my 2 25.5" 7s but that's only because I have them in open Bsus4 or Bbsus4. Even 25.5" is too short for A personally.

      Why would you want to go lower than A or drop A exactly? Once you get lower than A everything sounds a bit goofy to me. Drop G is only good for generic Djenty stuff but you can do generic Djenty stuff in drop A on a six string lol

    • @Return2TheLiving
      @Return2TheLiving 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@getshwiftygaming447 that’s your preference in taste. I have 6 strings that go down a full octave to A again, 33” scale. I once had the opinion as a Djent hater but over time I found music I liked that wasn’t Djent that was in drop D # (half step down from bass standard) that I enjoyed. Check out Arkangel by Thornhill it’s definitely not Djent.

    • @tarkenton3895
      @tarkenton3895 6 месяцев назад

      @@getshwiftygaming447 it's just not for me honestly. I tried it with various gauges but it's either too floppy or too woofy from the extra low end of the thicker strings/gets too dull too quick. I need at least 26.5 for A.
      As for why you'd go lower, there's plenty of good reasons. Doomy shit sounds filthy below A, plus there's something super satisfying about really low tunings with that chunk. Meshuggah worship all the way for me

    Here is the thing about Cort. Cort is who makes Ibanez, Schecter, Solar, Jackson, Squier, among others. They literally were made on the same table by the same guy on the same day. So, you might as well save some money, and get the Cort.
    Really, the only reason to buy from one of the brands Cort makes INSTEAD OF the Cort itself is brand loyalty. Case-in-point, I LOVE everything Squier Classic Vibe and Vintage Modified.

    • @Mewslife
      @Mewslife 6 месяцев назад

      What sort of tuning would you want? The purpose of a 7 or 8 string guitar is the extended range that it brings. Normally in 4ths. 😄

    • @tarkenton3895
      @tarkenton3895 6 месяцев назад

      You can go higher, but just consider the setup and spec on it. Rusty Cooley had a signature 8 string with Dean Guitars that he used with a low B and a high A, but it had a really short scale on the treble side of the multiscale.
      Decapitated and Unearth have consistently tuned to drop B on 7 strings, meaning that the high string was tuned to an F# a full step above the standard high E.
      I personally use shorter scale 7 strings in BF#BEf#be, so some strings are tuned higher, some the same as standard.
      It's more about scale length than number of strings when it comes to how high or low you should look at tuning your guitar. More range will generally mean longer/multi scales which accommodates adding more low range by offering better tension, but there's 7 strings out there that have shorter scales like 24.75, 25, 25.5 which might not be best suited to tuning much lower than say a low A string and you could experiment with tuning them higher. I'd looked at getting a Danelectro Mod7 which was a 25" 7 string and tuning it to an open C with some weirdness in the higher strings, like CGCFGcf

      @@Mewslife In the late 80's, George Lynch had considered a 7 string with an extra high string, but nothing came of it. Could make for interesting chording, but soloing higher than an e string with 24 frets gets pretty shrill.

    • @sevenagnbeats
      @sevenagnbeats 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@sethhallstead1939Pretty much yeah, but for example, Cor-tek has exclusive buildings for Ibanez and PRS guitars. You also have Wildwood factory, that makes guitars for Schecter and Solar, but it seems like Cor-tek is the best when you track consistency and technology. Probably, more than half of the import guitars today are made by Cor-tek in Indonesia and WMIC in Korea.

    Why is the tone so bad? You made it sound like a cheap pickup with the boxiest 250hz spike in frequencies. Yet another paid advert... where you look like you are playing a 7-string for the first time in your life, not inspiring at all. Even the flaws of the finish are visible from afar. 7-minute video and you never mention what the neck profile is, how it feels playing, your likes and dislikes. Just another ad for Evertune which is basically the best thing on that guitar. Cort not stating the price is wtf? They still have a long way to go.
