- Sewing is not my gift which is why I am SO pleased with this 5-minute fabric bag! I was able to make this fabric using leftover upholstery fabric and with 3 folds and one stitch... it's the cutest little clutch. In a different size, this would be perfect as an ipad case, sunglass pouch and more! There's also so many ways you could personalize this with trim or fringe or embellishments! Leave me a comment and let me know if you try this... I promise it really is that easy!

9/29/23: I've made several of these after seeing your tutorial 3 months ago. Since then, I've become jazzier by adding hardware and such, in addition to, the middle part that makes the pocket, when I fold the initial fabric, wrong sides together, I stitch across a 1/8" seam allowance on the folded edge, and then I proceed to fold back the two ends which forms the flap. When turned right side out, it shows a finished look across the outside top pocket. Very cool looking. Thanks for sharing this technique with us. It's by far the easiest way to make a clutch and the imagination can go very far in terms of embellishing them. I LOVE it!
This is so cool, and I can't believe how easy it is 😊
What everyone else has said!! I knew it couldn’t be as hard as I was making it! Thank you so much my grandchildren and I are going to have so much fun putting these together
Hi! Did u try making the bag? If so, Where did u Leave the Opening so that you could Turn the bag and have the Top flap?
@@ceciliajefferson4209Hi, minimal info really isn’t there..but I did finally work it out. Yes, just leave enough gap to get a tight hand through, in top open bit that will be the flap. Then neatly top stitch it down.
@@sallyvaughan1231 Ok Thank you
Hi Charlotte! I have been to various channels scoping out ideas on how to make a clutch and yours by far is the BEST and EASIEST method in which to make one and you can get crazy creative with embellishments as I have done along the way. While other clutches are nice, they just have too much going on with their instructions in making one and it doesn't HAVE to be complicated. I always use your method and have had much success, so thank you. 😊 (P.S. I like conishkee's idea about the 1/8" SA for the top pocket.)
Hi Charlotte. Thanks for this very quick and easy design. I whipped up a bag late Friday night ahead of a wedding on Saturday which was the finishing touch for the outfit I had made. Really appreciated your quick and concise video.
I love that!!! Yay!
WHOA! Yes, I'm yelling! That is sooooo easy! Definitely making several of these. Thanks.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 OMG! I don't see HOW you turned it into a pouch but I followed you step by step and IT WORKED... THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH I have been trying to find a tutorial I could follow for 2 months and I did it 🥳🥳🥳🥳
YAY!!!! It's like a little bit of magic every time it works! :)
@craftybeebudgeting Hi! Where did u Leave your Opening so you Turn the bag and have the Flap on Top?
Can't thank you enough for this super easy amazing tutorial. I used velcro to close mine.
Made several, one to put a wheeled shopping bag in, to keep in the car. Another for keeping my sewing rulers in. Another for my makeup. The list is endless. I am planning to make my grand daughters some summer dresses with a clutch bag to match I will attach (D ring and lobster clasp) strap to the bag for them. 👍😊❤️
Love that! Great ideas!
It's so simple and watched it thrice...couldn't believe it can be done in such simple way . Thank you for sharing.
LOVE THIS! Making 23 gifts and needed something fast and cute. THANK YOU!
Magic is right! I absolutely could not visualize this, but followed your instruction. Voila! It’s a clutch!
This is exactly what I was looking for. You explained it so well. I am heading to the sewing machine now.
Thank you so much 🥰 what an awesome easy way to sew a clutch. I tried it immediately and it came out perfect. Saw so many other tutorials but they were so complicated, yours is the easiest and the cutest.😊 Love from South Africa 🇿🇦
Just saw this video a few days ago and tried making a clutch. It was easier than I thought. Thank you for sharing ❤
This is exactly what I was looking for! I’m going to stiffen with some interfacing but I KNEW a clutch like this couldn’t be too hard. Thank you for such a quick and easy-to-follow demo!!
My mind is blown. I am going to try as soon as I get home!!!! Love your enthusiasm
Lovely clutch !!
Amazingly simple and easy to stitch.Thanks.
To make an even more simple clutch use a placemat. Fold one end up 3/4 of the way and sew the sides up. Use the top 1/4 to fold over. A clasp can be added for a closure.
❤ you made this process so much simpler than I could’ve imagined
This design is fabulous! Thank you! I made it out of gold faux leather. It worked wonderfully! Easy and beautiful!
So cool!!
With heavier weight fabric as faux leather, did you make it fasten with a clasp, magnet or other closure and if not, does it create fuss by flopping open when you'd rather it stay shut!? Thanks
This is absouletly ridiculously simple. I am going to make one for me and my mom. Wow! 👏👏👏
I'm still kind of amazed at how simple it is! :)
Great idea!!!! And looks easy. Thank you for sharing!💜
Awesome, awesome, so easy to make, thanks for sharing
I made 30 of these last night! Super simple. Took a little minute to measure the perfect size I wanted, but after that.... easy! Thanks for sharing with us.
That's awesome!
What measurement did you use u am confused for measuring please reply
Hi can you please tell me which side was left open? Was it the side where the open ends met?
@@ameenashaf1289 I was hoping the comments would give me measurement too.
This is just great! Thanks! ❤
So simple and the results are as good as patterns that are much more complicated. Thanks so much!
I'm definitely going to try this.. Thanks ❤
Very cute!! I might have to give this a try. I bet a bit of interfacing would give the bag a bit more structure - if desired.
YES! I think it totally would.
I stitched a similar one yesterday.
I used a fusible interfacing between the main fabric and the
lining, but that made the 3 layers and the folds, together, too thick.
In the next one, Iam going to omit the interfacing.
@@seemarajderkar3019 or you could leave half an inch for sewing 😊
We are in the same boat when it comes to our sewing skills. I'm following you.
Thank you I tried and it worked , only thing I think I would like to say you make sure , keep the opening to pull inside out on the flap side which two open edges are .
Thank you for sharing this great idea I put my tablet in mine thankyou from Perth Western Australia
I added a handle to make it a crossbody bag and folded in another pocket! Couldn’t figure out how to post a picture.
Thanks for this fast & easy!
Figure it out Charlene, cause I want to see your creation. Ask a teenager.
Thanks for this easy to follow tutorial
Thanks for this Charlotte. I'm going to give it a go, I'm hoping to make some little clutch like bags to put some gifts in for Christmas, with the view that they can keep the gift in the bag going forward.
Thank you love the bag❤️
That's so nice, simply superb
It was wonderful the best thing i have learned in my life. Justlove love love the simplicity of it and options galore thank you so much
Love this! I have a question - how would you do this so the inside of the clutch is a different color?
great tutorial! cant wait to try this. I love quick and easy.
Incredibly easy to follow and beautiful final product!! Thank you for such a lovely tutorial!! Liked and subscribed 💚
Thanks so much! 😊
Amazing video thankyou...how would you do this with a different color lining ...would you just add the lining ontop of main fabric and then sandwich the interfacing inbetween?
Very nice I will try 🥰
Pure genius! Thank you.
Beautiful......clever.......thank you......
Can't wait to try this. Love it!!
Showing a finished clutch inside and out would have been nice
This is the most easiest clutch i ever made. Thank you for showing the technique and now i can’t go out with any of this clutch.
Hi, I am curious to know if you have used any interface or a different colored fabric as a lining.
@@sharmid9603 actually no need to use any lining because when u fold it the fabric itself turn into the lining. Im using jean’s material and it turns out very nice. Or maybe for the flap u can use some hard interfacing to hold the clutch.
Thank you so much. These are super easy to make
This is amazing!!
Omg! Thank you!!!💖💖💖 This is so easy! I will definitely be creating this in various sizes! Thank you for sharing 🥰
Thanks!
Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you
Will this work with fusible interfacing? Love the quick design
Sooooo cute and soooo easy! Thank you! 😍😍😍
Great tutorial! Thank you! 💖 Can you please tell me if I could make this using double sided pre-quilted fabric from Joanne's Fabrics? Also, could a serger be used to make these purses instead? I have a sewing machine and just got a new serger and was tempted to try making one of these clutches using just the serger. Do you think it could be done? I'm new to sewing and serging and was wondering how I could accomplish this. Thank you again.
I so want to make one of these for my friend!
Which is the front of the bag ?
I made it wow thank you easy peasy
It's perfect recommendation 🔥🔥🔥 Gracie
How come the clutches on your lap look so firm as if the have interfacing already in them?
Really simple omg thank you 🥰
hello i am trying to make this simple pouch
whih parameters or seems did you sew together pls
Hi I love this purse.I'd like to make 2 compartments inside, for cellphone and keys.
Please show how to make it .
Love from South Africa.
Insanely easy thank you
Omg, did you invent this epically simple method or learn it? I've watched so many what seemed like excessively complicated, lengthy, torturing videos on how to make clutch bags like this, I had about given up on the idea. Then your video...What a contrast. Thanks for your bright enthusiasm. And beautiful creative fabric choices for those bags!! Since you've had time now to use them hopefully, I wondered if you felt that having a magnet or other closure method would be preferred than to have the flap be able to flop around? Also I noticed you don't have a spool cap on your thread spool. How does it keep from popping off? I just learned about this subject because my thread did keep popping off. I didn't even know what a spool cap was. Or that you are supposed to have multiple sizes to cap different size thread spools! Sewing has so many intricate details....many parts and process all interworking, humming and harmonizing together.....You mentioned adding a contrasting lining, I've watched the video many times to figure out how to do that. Basically you choose half the length of fabric for the outside and the other half length for the inside contrast, sew those two lengths together and continue the steps as outlined. Is that right? Or do you only have the contrasting fabric be a quarter of the full length? And would the seam of sewing these two strips together end up at the bottom of the bag where you would want it? Might have to practice a few times first to get it right. I'm just starting to sew and making some of these for sewing machine parts, needles and notion organizing will be great. If you have any practical tips on organizing all the million little pieces of things that go with sewing, please share : )
I saw someone share it and had to try!
I was going to cut some mock material out of scrapbook paper to test out the reversible part, and also how I could fold it to get another tier of pockets on inside (even if not as deep or etc)
I was going to cut some mock material out of scrapbook paper to test out the reversible part, and also how I could fold it to get another tier of pockets on inside (even if not as deep or etc)
Thanks, this was soooo helpful! I made quite a big one to use to wrap gifts and I also did two different fabrics so it is reversible
So cool! Love that!
How exactly did you use a second fabric so it was reversible? I can't seem to picture that in my head.
@@keshahollar9403 i just cut two pieces the same size in two different fabrics, then sewed them together so it became one long piece of fabric like in the video. Then just followed the instructions in the video
Thank you. I sew a good bit but for the life of me couldn't wrap my brain around this when I started thinking about it. I was over thinking I guess!
very, very cool and cute
Thanks so so much!
Can you add some sort of interfacing or padding to give the clutch some body? Otherwise it's a bit floppy.
How to know how long to cut the fabric??
Awesome!
Thank you for sharing
Did you sew all 4 sides?
Should perfect for my kindle...
cute clutch, but I wish the volume was not messed up on video. Thank you for sharing.
Super 👍
Thank you 👍
Love love love
i have watched this video more than 10 yimes tried to recrete three times and still not gettting it right
Did you sew all 4 sides leaving a 3" gap? What side did you leave the 3" gap?
Hi! I left the gap in the middle of the top flap! Good luck!
How ??? So lost?? Sew the perimeter does that include the flap?? Where does the actual pouch for the bag come in to play?? I folded everything over and sewed the perimeter... it was all one thing no pouch?
Yes please I’m confused which side the gap was left open
@@alexisheard5585 hey! I had the same confusion, so I tried few things and concluded that :
Stitch all 3 sides except FLAP.
Turn inside out. You will find one side (flap) unstitched. Stitch it.
Tip: get that 3 inch thing outta ur mind. Just leave whole flap unstitched.
I hope that helps, coz I wasted a bit of fabric doing that 😅
@@ruru7215 Thank you so much for answering that question. I'd watched the video 4 times and still couldn't tell which side had the gap. Should probably watch on a TV and not my phone.
T love you girl ♥️
hotdog! EXCITING!!
Yes!!
Grt ....Thanks
No size or I don't see how u made it
I'm so confused.😢😢
What if i want same way byt want to add zipper
This may not be the best design for that but I'm not sure!
Thank you .. Great job ❤️
i think something is wrong with the audio in this vid
Slow the heck down, lady! Very difficult to follow when you are moving so fast.
I agree a bit to fast paced for me.
I've watched this multiple times & don't get it..what are the measurements? This was way too fast to follow
I think there are not measurements on purpose. Her goal here is to teach the skill of making the clutch but then we are able to personalize it in so many other ways. Finding the exact length would be dependent on what you want to use it for. I would say decide how tall you want the bag, and then make a mock one out of paper to test it out. Grab an old newspaper or junk mail and try it out (minus the sewing, just use tape)
Too fast
Get on with it! I don't care about what shows you were on.
Aren't you a breath of fresh air?!
Auto is terrible
Thanks for the helpful comment.
