This was actually a very good video to do. People don't realize that the actual lawn mower they're using affects the grass --- when we get down to everything that you're doing to make your lawn better this area needs to be addressed and you certainly addressed it. I also have a theory based on lawn care which is when you have your lawn cut by a professional they tend to use very heavy equipment, they cut the lawn in a very short settings, and at times when wet--- burning the lawn and then they are tracking lawn clippings from other lawns that they work on which can spread weeds and disease. Having your own lawn mower that can cut at a very high height and is very lightweight to maneuver is key to lawn care and especially re-seeding. Once again JB, my hats off to you, cheers!
Thanks a lot Vincent! Appreciate the positive feedback as always! Many don’t realize what they are doing with their mowers could be hindering their results. Hope you have a great week my friend! 👍
Definitely smoothed out the lawn! Mowing isn’t as bumpy for sure! Throw a little topsoil and sand down and you’ll be a happy camper. Let me know if you decide to take the plunge lol!
Great video as always JB....I particularly found the tip about setting your mower deck a little higher when mowing newly seeded grass helpful. I can't believe your got the Honda mower a little dirty this time. :-)
Hey Robert! Glad to hear you got something from this video! The Honda has been doing some work this spring. On and off rain has been keeping the lawn wet and the timemaster doesn’t like that. The Honda does a better job on wet grass. Thanks for watching another my friend! 👍👍
Great tips as usual JB! Your lawn looks awesome! This has been good weather to grow or plant grass seed. Just waiting for some summer warmth to get here! Have a great weekend brother!
JAY! Thank you neighbor! The weather really has been pretty cooperative this spring. Not too hot and enough rain to get the job done. Probably one of the best we have had in a while. Higher temps are on the way. Any plans for your Sunday?
Definitely! Doesn’t take much to get the lawn gods on your side! The fleet is getting bigger by the day! Got a mower tune up coming up next week! Stay tuned Mace! 👍👍
In the video it looks like you mulch mowed after seeding, but you didn't specify whether to bag or mulch. Is mulching recommended, or should you bag to keep from smothering the new grass seedlings and give them more access to sunlight?
Just watching out of loyalty and entertainment😁😁😁Water restrictions kicked in May 1st. Basic 2 day per week, 5 minutes. No water=no lawn☹ The positive is it's easier to pickup 💩
Ha I appreciate you being a loyal fan William! You rock my friend! Those are some tight water restrictions. I’m praying for your lawn to hold on. There are pluses to everything you just gotta keep your eyes out lol! Any plans for the weekend?
@@GarageGear Plan for weekend accomplished! Final clean up of broken limbs from spring snow storm in May. Wet, heavy snow did some tree damage. After the storm I cleaned up the major damage that blocked driveway, street, and limbs on the roof. This weekend I removed the broken limbs still stuck in the trees. Now I need to sharpen the chain saw. 😡 I was going to buy a new chain.....but....out of stock😡😡 (HD, Lowes and ACE had a run on chains the day after the storm) Been almost a month now....a chain shortage??????? COMON🤬🤬🤬The positive is I don't have to buy gas for the chain saw😊 ELECTRIC! My brother in Margate, FL got some flood damage this weekend, one heck of a rain. I told him to send that water this way!🌧 Hope you had a blessed weekend JB, enjoying that pool.
Hey William! Here’s a couple options my father in law has tried that have generally worked for him in the past. A bright light or a motion sensor flood light will scare skunks away. Most animals, including skunks, dislike the smell of citrus fruits. Place orange or lemon peels around the yard as a natural skunk repellent. Predator urine (dogs, coyotes) can be used to repel a skunk.
You should lightly scalp your grass before seeding and you should wait 3 weeks before cutting it. New grass roots are way too shallow to even be on it beforehand.
A mower less than a 100lbs? Everything really is bigger in the US. I have a Makita twin-battery mower that is 17kg, around 40 Fahrenheit of weight. That's light!
Hey Zup, I mowed the lawn low, leveled and seeded, mowed again roughly 10-14 days later and 2 more times putting as much time between mows as possible. This video was filmed over the course of a month or so. Thanks for watching

Great advice JB! Your Lawn is looking great! Thanks for the shout out on the board!!! 🙌
Thanks for being a cool fan as always Lawn Lover! Checking out your channel now! Great content my friend! 👍👍
@@GarageGear Thanks!
do you bag or mulch clippings on first mow?
I usually just mulch. I like to push that nitrogen right back into the lawn as long as it’s not too clumpy which it usually isn’t
I definitely need to level my lawn have really bad holes I seen the other video already

@@mellowjammer I mulch whenever I can. You shouldn’t have any issues smothering the seeds
@@GarageGear Ok, thanks. I just noticed most other websites recommend bagging the clippings at least for the first few mowings.
@@mellowjammerI would say mulch if it's dry weather... If you are forced to mow in wet weather bag it. If it's clumping it will smother.

JB, any idea on how to keep SKUNKS away from yard? On the ranch we could trap & gas. In the city we have to be "humane."

wait 6 weeks before 1st cut.
