Building sub 3s has been broken for like two years. Especially the A.I. has no counter. Sub 3s with snorkels sink all Japanese convoys
Two years? Don’t you mean 4 years today.
Subs are op as fuck. You want domination of the seas. Its easy as germany to defeat the brits. Just build a shit ton of subs by 42 youll have 600 without noticing.
bro as USA all you have to do is active sonar destroyer 2 and the starting carrier, then surface raid japan to the ground
@@jgrantrichardson3748 And what is your counter to tac bomber/naval bomber
All subs has been pretty amazing since release. Right at release 100% destroyers worked well that they could counter it and everything else though.

I knew it was Golden playing Japan just from the intro. He’s the only one that would brag about something like that
It took until I saw how hard Japan pushed into India for me to guess that it was Golden… Well between either Dankus or Golden.
Honestly Japan did actually get game impact, shame Germany didn't capitalise on it

A railway through nepal is just an oxymoron... its perfect

Truly nothing more American than building 10-lane freeways through the Nepal Himalayas.
Japan was larping the maelstrom battle from Pirates of the Caribbean and America was not ready for it.
I can just picture Yamamoto on the deck of the Yamato giving the Elizabeth Swann speech.
Imagine if the Japanese Player did a 6D Chess move by saying that they can't hold India before game, and then just focus on anywhere but India.
Would probably end like that one game, where the JP player invaded the US only to get rolled in Asia.
Wouldn't be surprised; this is Golden we're talking about

America building an intercontinental railroad? Where have I heard that before?

5:10 Little does he know that the Siamese tanks have 2 turrets and 2 main guns for twice the firepower.
twice the firepower, double the reload
@Kelvin Chu as a certain dude overly obsessed with revolvers would say "the reloading is exhilarating!"
I see the subs and I just get flashbacks to the time that Manchukuo built a whole mess of sub 3s that literally covered the entire world.
I've always loved the concept of being a competent navy player, but I hate it in practice.
This reminds me of that one game where Manchuria had 100s of subs.
The moment I see "claimed that it is *impossible* ....", I already know that is golden, because only golden does that 😅
It's almost poetic how Bo nearly looses his entire navy against the Japanese thanks to a storm.

When he's mentioned the days for video uploads in the past it's always been ridiculous o' clock in Europe. Like his second Viccy 3 game he said would come out on a certain day but in Europe the date had already switched and for the East coast it was the right time.

As a Nepali - Appreciate the superhighway the Americans built here it’s quite nice to go on and look at the mountains
That naval battle reminds me of why Japan is called the land of the rising sun or something like that. SO basically The mongols tried to invade japan with a massive navy but a humungous storm stopped them much like the storm killed most of Bos navy
Starting by stating I'm not an expert, as far as I know rhe storm that you teference which hinderee the mongolian invasions twice was the Divine Wind, the Kamikaze.
Land of the Rising Sun comes from China instead, as Japan is to the east of China and thus the sun would rise from there in their point of view. Japan was then largely influenced by China culturally during its early history and they adopted the name, Nihon, which is Japan in Japanese, and from which our Nippon comes from.

Historic play, discoordinated axis beaten one by one by allies.
Tho i dont see the point playing navy as axis... theres no chance at all
Are scout planes + naval bombers not working or have you just not used them yet against subs???
If you improve them healthily they'll absolutely wreck any and all seaborne units not protected by fighters. Especially subs cause they have about no AA and scout planes /and specifically designed DDs late war, will find them, even snorkel ones.
Or, designate more (designed) escorts, I guess.
Scouts + naval bombers is nice though.
Well, they're playing a mod that significantly buffed BBs and other big ships, so they're content with being fanboys of those paperweights and just bitch about the ships that made their favourite boats obsolete. Name one BB in WW2 that didn't die like a bitch.
This is actually just historically what the US did to Japan with their subs, only in real life it only started in 1943 or so because the US torpedos didn't work to start off with. If the bureau of ordinance weren't idiots. By 1944 in real life, subs had destroyed more than half the japanese merchant capacity despite the slow start
Realistic. US Navy says Japan doesnt get to have nice things.
However, IRL we had 263 submarines, not 200.
Bo getting gangster on goldens fleet.
Hey I saw this one live
Bo still doesnt know about CTRL+B? =D

GOLDEN LOST
You need ships in patrol to sink subs consistently, but he put all his ships in the same stack. Bad choice!
What is funny is that I rarely see a Japan convoy raiding the USA and UK.
What is he supposed to do with his main Fleet against submarines? It is not an Anti Submarine Fleet, but a Battle Fleet, it wont do anything against Submarines.
In MP you build a Destroyer Based Fleet against subs, splitting your main navy up will just result in it getting defeated in detail.
Golden played that one brilliantly in my opinion, he may not have won, but he occupied both the US and UK navy and kept almost all allied tanks away from africa. The USA had like no military factories and could not focus on europe for very long.
@@vayion The purpose of the Navy is not only to destroy the enemy ships. You can cut the trade of your enemies, which is a lot more damaging in the long run, while keeping your trade routes safe. (As an example)
He put all his eggs in the same basket and couldn't do anything about the enemy subs. That doesn't mean he played bad, but we can see that in MP, people are addicted to death stacks.
@@sacia4339 But navies in hoi4 do not work like they do in real life. Also again, the ships he had were of no use to hunt down submarines, they were not built to kill those, they were just screening ships for the main navy.
Yes, in reality a deathstack of a navy would be something really, really stupid, but in Hearts of Iron you pretty much have no concessions for using a death stack. Naval Supremacy isn't affected by having them in one fleet, and it basically ensures you have enough damage to take out every enemy fleet (if they do not deathstack)
I don't know the exact video, but I am remembering one particular video where Bo just kills the Japanese fleet in a matter of minutes, as they split up their navy and bo did not.
In MP you have 1 main navy. And to name one proper example in the video, in "Wolverines!" Bo literally waits right till he kills the Italian navy to split up his fleet. He had twice the heavy attack with his deathstack, but only splitting his navy once could have killed it with land based aircraft deployed by the axis.
Is that how the game should be? Probably not. But making a reality based naval combat is difficult and also kinda uninteresting as you have the benefit of hindsight, which would everyone just build carriers in a realistic combat system.
But basically to come back to the initial point. Golden did not put sonars or depth charges on his battle fleet destroyers. They would have done nothing against submarines. Splitting his main navy up would also not have helped, as the US Fleet could have sniped those small fleets.
The thing which he should have done is build more dedicated light cruisers and destroyers against submarines, deploy them with planes as cover and use the main navy to project protection onto those. That is how you end up dealing with subs
@@vayion Maybe they were playing a old mod, and that's why this strategy.
About death stacks, you should take a look in the Dev Dairies. Naval Warfare changed a lot recently. Now, Surface Raiders are a viable strategy. Some in the Forum, even, considere them OP because of their speed (they can kill everything and leave before the main enemy force arrives).
About the initial DDs of Japan. You don't need sonar or depth charges to escort your convoys, because every DD has 1 of depth charges damage. Some RUclips Channels already tested and confirmed it. They are only needed in Patrol (doing ASW).
If you have NAV together with whatever DD available, you can erase any submarine threat while reducing the risk of losing your convoys.

Hi bo
the indian infrastructure being incomplete is so chicken game
Don't you overstack carriers when you have 4 of them? Is this a mod feature or something? Cause they just had 12 of them, and didn't overstack.
I will give bokoen1 1k dollars to bring back sub 3's
...you put the part about twitch in to get the video to 10 minutes, didn't you?

I've given up trying to understand game balance in HOI4. I don't understand how you can have a situation where the British lose all of Africa, the Americans lose Pearl Harbor, and the Royal Navy isn't even in Europe, Italy is presumably never invaded, and the Allies still somehow win like two years earlier than they did IRL.
Bokoen and Cie use a custom multiplayer mod they made themselves. Don't know how it change balance since it's a multiplayer mod only so I can't test myself.
its because the soviet union mobolized the entire economy of Tannu Tuva and aimed it at the Germans that Europe didn't need allied intervention.
You only need 20 dockyards on subs and youll pump em out. Subs take like 4 months to build with 20 on it youll have a shit ton by 42. I do it i. My mp as germany by sea lion i out number the brits just by subs
