- Welcome to GamingSins, where I nitpick the hell out of video games.
I finally get to sin what is undoubtedly the best Resident Evil game out there to date. Tense atmosphere, inventory management, a plethora of puzzles, lots of backtracking, memorable bosses, unforgettable music, new gameplay ideas, new locations, and using the latest technology (at the time) to enhance the fixed camera angle style and your end result is a defining classic that is so damn good, it's not only one of the best remakes of all time, but it replaces its original counterpart.
I had to reach for this one (as I seem to do with all classic Resident Evil titles). But I managed to find a good amount of sins for this. So enjoy.

I agree with both Jill and Rebecca, but I think I still like RE5 Chris just a bit more.

Ya have to admit, this was one hell of a good remake.

It’s always funny to me how Jill, Chris, and Rebecca are all ages 18-23 in this game. How did they get nearly enough experience to join the most elite team in the RPD?

You forgot to sin that capcom still didn't let us get the actual ending where Barry and Rebecca both survive, seeing as this is a remake
the only way they could do that is to ditch the scenario system and find a way to make the game work with both characters acting at the same time
Dino Crisis 2 has fixed that problem as well as RE Code: Veronica and those games came out BEFORE the RE1 remake
even back then, Capcom still continue to reuse the same shitty issues of the original RE games in their RE remakes lol

the difference there was you CAN get the true ending in that game without resorting to a 3rd campaign option

Why have I been in a Resident Evil mood recently? I bought all the games while they were on sale, watched almost every major speedrun on the RE:Remake, and dare I say it, watched all the movies in one sitting. What the actual hell was I thinking...
Truth be told, I am on an RE binge too. Although I am starting with RE 4, then going up till I play RE7 on VR. Then I will go too the remakes.
I usually go through the original games at least once a year. 1-4 and code veronica. Nothing against the remakes I enjoyed them as well. The original games will always have a special place in my heart I don't care how cheesy they look today. That being said 5 and 6 I could care less about both of them (especially 6). I would have liked 5 more but I didn't like that they killed off wesker, mainly how they did it. Jill and chris should have been the 2 that end the saga of wesker not sheeva
The one thing that bugs me later in life after playing REmake for 20 years is that the mansion keys are all for simple wafer locks and Jill should be able to easily pick through them.
So he finally returns how I’ve missed this...

Though Rebecca will kill plant 42 for you with the V-Jolt so it is a trade off, the shotgun being the better choice obviously.

This remake is the best ever. The first time playing, the Crimson Heads were scary af.

These Resident evil graphics held up very well Jill Chris Barry and Wesker remake attire is perfect
I miss how (not talking about this game in particular but games in general) devs actually CARED about HOW they made their games and not HOW MUCH MONEY they off of them. Of course, there are some devs out there who DO care about how their games are made, but most of them just care for the profit instead of how consumers feel
Agreed. Games like Crackdown, Sunset Overdrive, and Streets of Rage 4 get it right, and SOR4 doesn't even have DLC!
I mean that's the whole point of making a good game, is so that it sells well. If you mean you miss when nerds made games instead of businessmen. I'd agree with you.

RE Remake came out in 2002, pal... waaaay before the "desaturated brown and gray era". Those days cheerful and colorful games were the thing. This one was a truly realistic looking standout and still looks amazing today (even in its original GameCube version, which is the best).
The fact that you have to reach so many flaws speaks highly of the quality of this game.
Still the best remake, if not one of the best remakes ever done.
RE2 Remake should've taken notes.

Careful man, this is the grand daddy of survival horror a genre defining moment. it is a perfect example of what the gaming medium can achieve.

It sucks that that's the version of RE1 available on PS3'S PSN. Absolutely awful music for a great game.

Yeah it’s crazy that there is no ending that has all 4 even though they all canonically escape together, would it have been so hard to add a perfect cutscene that you unlock by completing both Jill and Chris good endings

RE:Remake still looks amazing on the original Gamecube the lighting effects still hold up very well and the character models still look realistic.
So the last couple RE Sins videos made me want to play the games, so let's see how this one will do
Wait, Brad never dropped the signal flares at all. They're just there and makes sense for them to be at a helipad.
The way Rebecca is mishandled in this game has convinced me that Jill’s scenario is the true one. Rebecca and Chris are both in the cell, and then Jill rescues both of them. All four (since Barry also survives) fight the Tyrant while Brad hovers.

Easily one of my top three video games of all time. I'd say this even rivals Silent Hill 2 as the single greatest horror game of all time, it's that good.

That point about Jill sandwich is exactly why I try to remind people this isn’t representative of classic RE. It was dang near a reboot in my eyes at the time and was thinking they were going with a darker more serious tone that would have been less enjoyable. I was 16 when the original came out and still got scared, but after beating it a few times you start to realize it’s funny.
In this entire game, the thing that shocks me most is that Umbrella pays their taxes...
For 12 years I was making the locked door argument and everyone act like it was supposed to be normal

Wesker was shooting at another bee. And the Samurai Edge we find is Jill's, not Chris'. Im guessing she dropped it after Wesker most likely attacked and dragged her to the cell. As for the splitting up in Jill's story, I'd like to imagine Chris did some kind of badass slide into a ground level window (those medium sized rectangular ones) that lead into a basement, where he gets caught by Wesker. Why Wesker is not just waiting around in the main hall.

I think Rebecca is like myself, I can play things on a piano but takes me a good while to learn it, other people can play anything by looking at the music. Chris is just like a 3 year old who thinks what he is playing sounds good

Actually the word senile means having or showing the weaknesses or diseases of a person with old age meaning while being senile is more associated with people who are old it's still possible for it to appear in younger people

I just thought about something... When Rebecca mentions that a lot of the chemicals and serums within the chemical room are owned by umbrella, wouldn't she have mentioned Umbrella's involvement after the events that occured in Zero to Chris? She was aware of the Umbrella Research facility, the opera singing leech-man that talked about leaking the virus in a vengeful mission, the fate of William Birkin, etc. She casually mentioned Umbrella in the Remake like it was the chihuahua in the Taco Bell commercials.

Finally, the TRUE best Resident Evil AND best Resident Evil Remake of all-time! Such a fucking classic.

I normally don't pay much attention to details as long as I can finish the game but watching this kind of content makes me want be more focus to the next game I'll be playing.

It could be inferred that Wesker had copies of the keys to the mansion and is locking doors ahead of Chris or Jill to keep them from learning too much too soon

Wesker: I'll send a glorified SWAT team smaller than a military squad armed with handguns and one guy with a shotgun. Should simulate a standard military team armed with rifles, machineguns and anti tank weapons very well.

Resident Evil 2 will forever be my favourite in the series but the first game in both forms scares me the most. Even almost 30 years later.

Here are some personal sins of mine:
1) That broken 1 way door near the save room can go to hell. Having to go ALLLLLL the way around for this dumb ass reason was way too annoying.
2) Having to find that dog collar was a bitch. I was struck on that part for hours cuz of that little out of the way screen.
3) You needing not to have to fight the giant snake the 1st time was lame as hell. Which make Rebecca getting the antidote for Chris an annoying sidequest with no benefits from it.
4) Even though Wesker is trying to kill everyone why in the hell did he gave us extra ammos and fix that broken door?!
5) For as much as Capcom hyped up Lucy as some strong powerful enemy she is really a joke and easy to dodge........and you barely get to see her, she only appear like 3 times.
6) *Sigh* the moving boxes part, kinda a major sin in most RE games.
7) You can't just take out 1 ink ribbon to save, you need to take out the 5 ink ribbons you combine and put the rest back after using one.

3:50 The funny thing is you can get Barry’s magnum and it’s the most powerful weapon in the game aside from the rocket launcher. Everything’s down in one hit and prevents the Tyrant from reaching the roof at the end. With an action replay back on GameCube (or mods in today’s world) you can give yourself the gun to mess around with from the start since it’s only got the ammo inside of it at endgame.
As a vet of the REmake board back in 2002 on GameFAQs we always considered this zombie a “Super Zombie” or the “Super Baldy”. Not only does it tank three rounds from Barry’s 44. Magnum but it gets up and decides to fuck off to the corridor from whence it came restored to full health. Unfortunately it loses its “Super” status after that and is a regular old zombie.
Side note: we used to think Barry was firing blanks as part of working under Wesker but this same zombie is decapitated in the original in 1996 by the gun so...maybe not lol
Hope you sin The Last of Us Part II. A 3-hour long video would be perfect. Also, RE8 when it comes out👍

Well considering at the end of 0 she said he was going to be considered legally dead, aswell as it being easy to lie or even convince Chris that Billy is a good guy, I don't know about that.

To be fair in regards to the training facility exploding, it kind of falls into the category of if a tree falls and no one is around to hear it
