Miss Morgan-I have looked and looked AND looked for someone who focuses on colored pencils. I finally found someone and it's YOU!! Yeah! Your pieces have life! I am learning so I will be checking each week for new tutorials. Thank you so much for your time and talent! I hope to learn much from you. God bless you for taking the time to teach us. Can't wait for more. Have a great day and thank you so much again!
Oh boy, I just rewatched this and totally meant to say iris instead of cornea for the part of the eye I was describing! Also, "wax blooms" was misused as well, I'm still learning these fancy art terms but you guys know what I mean! lol. Anyways, new videos should be on their way in about three months!
I have literally watched your 7 videos on your channel about 50 times each!! They honestly help so much and I love the drawings you do! This one is honestly my favourite drawing ever and I watch this video or look at the drawing all the time for inspiration! I would LOVE to see more videos of how you blend and chose colours or how you get your reference images, or just any videos from you would be so helpful! So if you ever are considering making youtube videos again, BIG YES! And thanks so much for all your hard work and inspiration!
Did I enjoy this ? OMG ! This was probably the best color tutorial I ever saw. Your color choices and blending for the face was just beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing your talent and inspiring others.
I love 100x to watch you do this art work. It's superb. I do agree with all the other viewers that if you could video tape how you blend things in real time. That would be awesome.
I'm kicking myself as I'm watching this, I just spent about 6 hours trying to get "good enough" color values by pressing down hard from the start with crazy wax build up. This tutorial is a lifesaver for my next project
I absolutely love, love, love this! I only wish you would voice over this same video, slowing it down and talking more about what colors you used and why. Thank you for taking the time to post this for all of us!
I've been following you on Instagram a long time and you are one of my favorite artists out there. Currently I'm working on a drawing that has 7 portraits on it. One of me, a good friend and various artists from small to big on an A4 sized paper. I simply had no idea on how to even make a start on the colouring. Seriously. But then you came up in my mind. And thank god you have such a good tutorial, it really helps a lot! Now I can colour everything step by step using this tutorial for now and in future drawings! Thank you sooo much for sharing your techniques! You are a WONDERFUL and extremely talented artist! After having watched this tutorial, I admire your work even more!
This is incredible! I was watching in awe the whole time. I used to think you used watercolor underneath and then went on top with colored pencil, but you used nothing but pencils throughout.
You are too amazing! I'm in love with your art since always. This tutorial made things pretty clear to me, but it would be great an eye tutorial. I can't understand how alive they are, idk. Congrats on your hard work!
This is ABSOLUTELY amazing! I do wonder if you can make a tutorial on which colours you use for the skin and how to blend them and stuff..? It goes so fast right now! Nevertheless, amazing drawing and thank you so much for the tutorial!
Great video Morgan...thanks for sharing your process :) I had pretty much given up on Prismacolors because of the wax bloom issue, but I'm going to give them another shot with the fixative you suggest. Looking forward to your next vid!
+Art&Vlog btw how long does it take you a portrait like this? my main problem is that if I don't finish a drawing the next few hours I started it then I will never finish it lol
This is so beautiful!! 😍 I am completely in awe of how you gradient the skin tones so smoothly. For me, there are some pencils where, no matter how smoothly I shade, the actual pencil just builds up a wax bloom and ruins the drawing (particularly the brown tones). Do you ever get the same issue? Also I think in order to appreciate just how well you blend a tutorial on a specific facial feature ie the lips would be amazing. I'd just like to say that I've been following your art on Instagram for a while now and the sophistication of your work as well as your style just astound me. Thank you for another great video and I look forward to your future uploads!
You remind me how lucky I am since I also have prismas. I follow you for a long time now. It's a bit difficult to understand every word (i'm italian), but it's also so pleasant to see you drawing.
Hi! First of all, congratulations you are a very talented artist, you have crossed borders, that's incredible! I'm from Mexico (sorry if I write something wrong) and I started to follow you on Instagram, when I realized you have a RUclips account I said "of course I will see her videos" I think I have too much to learn about you and your art and I want to tell you THANK YOU for share this with me and with all of us that admire you and your work. I wish you even more succes! Love, Ana 😊
Thanks so much for this tutorial, it really helped! I loved how you explained everything and had good lighting for the entire video :)) A suggestion for your next video could maybe be a video without timelapse of you drawing a potrait or a part of a potrait.
Personally I'd like to see after this tutorial a where you draw not in time laps and you show how to blend colors and how to color perfectly ( without any little uncolored dot ) a very small area
I'll definitely keep that in mind! I'll try to do a small drawing maybe just some lips or an eye and get even more specific about the blending process and slow everything down. Thanks for the input! :)
+Morgan Davidson I LOVE YOUR WORK and this video is the mooosttt helpful video i've seen on blending colors on skin ! please keep it up !!! subscribed !!
I would like to see that too! Colored pencils A to Z. Anything you can show us! And thank you for explaining and NOT putting some music on which doesn't help at all. Your conversation is a great help! It's teaching and I think it's safe to say we watch 'cos we want to learn! Thank you! Your work is beautiful!
This is so amazing and inspiring! You should try to do a portrait in graphite and make a video about the differences :) btw you have inspired me so much! 😘
Thank you for this! I am very new to working with colored pencils and it has been tremendously helpful. I am working through a portrait using your techniques right now but I fear I'm doing it wrong still. I've been layering colors on the skin to achieve a well balanced skin tone but it still looks very rough and not smooth at all 😖.
Do you think you can put the link to the items you mention in the description + in the future (in this video, you mentioned a prisma color spray..?) Thanks so much for all your tips & help - Great video work on image & sound quality + organized commentary!
You are amazing! Thank you for the tutorials, I have not worked with colored pencil very much and didn't realize what you could do with them! How do you keep your hand from smudging while you work?
This is super helpful. I was having a hard time coloring the face since my photo reference happen to be colorful in a way that its face is reflected with colored lights.
So very helpful, Morgan! When I saw that this video was out, I did my happy dance x5 :)! I've been waiting to see your blending process for forever! Thanks so much! PS. Curious about the pores, are you individually adding some of those in?
Also how do you use lighter pencils over the dark ones so that it shows up because I noted even before you started with the fixative you were able to lighten it. Could you also explain what wax build up and fixative and all of the terms you used were? I'm new to drawing and so this video was a little overwhelming. Could you do a drawing for beginners with colored pencil video?
Thank you so much for sharing! i always learn something new from your tutorials, don't stop please :3 also i would really like to know if you use brands other than Prismacolor?
Thank you so much for all your videos! They really help me with learning new tricks, techniques and what supplies I need (: I was just wondering what paper you used to cover up the rest of your photo while you used the spray fixative?
Holy crap! I had no clue about fixatives! I am literally looking at them right now on Amazon. I am looking at the Krylon workable fixative, which also has a matte finish. Have you ever tried that one? I recently did a portrait of my dog (which you can see on my channel) and had a ton of issues with the wax build up. I was looking at trying to add highlights and details with gel pens and was so nervous I was putting it off. But now I am going to order this and finish it like that. I also made a portrait of a mime (my profile pic) where I messed up the nose. Knowing this a couple months ago would have saved me so much trouble. I am going to go back and redo that one. I've watched 3 of your videos and have learned so much! Thank you!
How long does it take you until the skin is as smooth as you want? I use prismacolor and Faber castels and when ever I try to color skin, it never looks quite this smooth ever. I've watched this video several times trying to see how you did it.
I noticed earlier on the video that you had some pencil markings to draw the model but later on, I couldn't see them (during final drawing). Did you go over the pencil markings with the paint or did you erase them as you went along?
When using color pencils, is there a method to using them? As in, do you just color like we did as kids and go back and forth, or do you go in circles, ovals? I always find it difficult to not have the 'line' look when using color pencils.
Great tutorial! :) I had an idea, it would be amazing if you made a reference photo, and then challengede all of your subscribers on RUclips and instgram to draw it. It would be really interesting to see the different results ✏😍
Wow! That's a lot of work! You have to love doing it to take the time to do it I really like colored pencils ever since high school. Getting back into it. Not into coloring books. Want to do real drawings. I love nature too and objects. LOVE what I've seen you do! Keep up the good work thank you!
this might be a weird/dumb question, but how do you pick the colors you're going to use for the drawing? like what colors go well with each other/give the effect you want to give? thank you!
Hi, do you ever use materials other than colouring pencils to do these drawings? I'm doing a supply run soon and am not sure what to get for my colour drawings. Do you have any suggestions?
I have a bad habit of using my colorless and white colored pencils to blend all my values. It leaves all my drawings looking ridiculously waxy and I'm getting sick of it. I know you said to use the back of the pencil to get rid of wax, but do have any other tips on blending and getting rid of wax build up. Maybe a possible video? Thanks!
Beautiful work,keep sharing ,nice ❤️😎.....

This is the best portrait tutorial I’ve ever seen
Your level of talent is absolutely amazing. I'm completely blown away. You truly are gifted, and I wish you continued success.

You inspire me... I love the way you use the colors...
Great video, with so many tips. Thank you for sharing. Your work is stunning!
I loved the video and the portrait!!

Grateful for your tutorial! Keep it up!
Now I understand what insane amount of detailing it takes to make something what you've been making for years.

Wow! you are super talented.
These colors are just perfect, love it!
Amazing! I loved it
Great video Morgan...thanks for sharing your process :) I had pretty much given up on Prismacolors because of the wax bloom issue, but I'm going to give them another shot with the fixative you suggest. Looking forward to your next vid!
I would love to see a straight up blending tutorial as well, slowed down and preferably on skin.

Great artist....
It's toooooo good #morgan.👌👌
Incredible work and a really useful tutorial. Thank you!
Morgan u don't know that this tutorial was too helpful too me thank u so much😊
I never realized you could use a matte final fixative and go on top of it! I've gotta try that! Thanks!
Been looking forward to this tutorial. This drawing is stunning! x

This is so amazing and inspiring! You should try to do a portrait in graphite and make a video about the differences :) btw you have inspired me so much! 😘

I've been layering colors on the skin to achieve a well balanced skin tone but it still looks very rough and not smooth at all 😖.
I have a little wax build up in a couple of areas. I have a long way to go before I can use colored pencils with the same ease as you.
This is so beautiful

This is gorgeous!! Thank you so much for making these videos :) ♥
Hi! I always look forward to your new pictures and videos. Could you show it slow process streaking pencil? Thank you!

Ty so much Morgan could be very very helpful
Ps. I love your drawings and I continuously share them in my art sharing page 😁
You are amazing! Thank you for the tutorials, I have not worked with colored pencil very much and didn't realize what you could do with them! How do you keep your hand from smudging while you work?
This is insane!!😍
Amazing work. I wish if you could have narrated the list of colours too.
This is amazing, I've had trouble with lips and the way you describe your techniques seem like they'll help me so much! :D
I love this!
Thank you so much for sharing !!!
It would be great if you could do more tutorials - they're much much better than timelapse videos
This is super helpful. I was having a hard time coloring the face since my photo reference happen to be colorful in a way that its face is reflected with colored lights.
Beautiful work! What kind of paper do you use? Particular brand? It looks so smooth. Also, do you ever erase?
This is utterly astounding! You make really great points and I learned a lot. I was wondering, what colours do you normally use for skin? :)
So very helpful, Morgan! When I saw that this video was out, I did my happy dance x5 :)! I've been waiting to see your blending process for forever! Thanks so much!
PS. Curious about the pores, are you individually adding some of those in?
Omg I love you! Didn't know you had a RUclips channel!

Wow great job! What paper is this? Also I don't see the line work video yet. That would be really beneficial to me.
Holy crap! I had no clue about fixatives! I am literally looking at them right now on Amazon.

What pencil sharpner do you use? Your pencils looked nice and sharp. Thank you for sharing:)
you used one way of blend pencil? and also blend with more clear colors over the darker color?
please upload a line work video!! your amazing and i need to learn!!
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!
Ahhh, I watched the photoshop vid, all clear! :) Very helpful too, thank you!! ^_^
How long does it take you until the skin is as smooth as you want? I use prismacolor and Faber castels and when ever I try to color skin, it never looks quite this smooth ever. I've watched this video several times trying to see how you did it.
Beautiful! What brand of pencils do you use?
HI I loved your video. but can I please know what paper you have used??
What do u use to blend ur colored pencils to smooth out the look and make it more realistic???? I've always wondered how people do that...
I noticed earlier on the video that you had some pencil markings to draw the model but later on, I couldn't see them (during final drawing). Did you go over the pencil markings with the paint or did you erase them as you went along?
good job... kindly help, what type of paper and pencils do you use?
Hey Morgan nice work! Can you write the name of the spray you use in this video?
When using color pencils, is there a method to using them? As in, do you just color like we did as kids and go back and forth, or do you go in circles, ovals? I always find it difficult to not have the 'line' look when using color pencils.

Beautiful
How long were you drawing this pic? :) i'm so curious ;)
Around 6-7 hours for this video and about 15 for the whole drawing :)
Wow! That's a lot of work! You have to love doing it to take the time to do it I really like colored pencils ever since high school. Getting back into it. Not into coloring books. Want to do real drawings. I love nature too and objects. LOVE what I've seen you do! Keep up the good work thank you!
this might be a weird/dumb question, but how do you pick the colors you're going to use for the drawing? like what colors go well with each other/give the effect you want to give? thank you!
how would you know which colors to choose in that particular section at a particular time?
I love this

how do you sharpen your prisma that sharp ?????
What color pencil did you use? Just curious or I could have missed it in the video....
wow, I literally wish I could draw like this...what kind of paper are you using for this?
+kelly Heart I think it is Bristol smooth as always.
