Thanks for stopping by! I hope this video helps anyone looking to buy an E36 or replace the radiator in their car. The weakpoint of these 90's BMWs are the cooling system, they are pretty much hopeless. Glad we were able to get the car back up and running. Will probably do the water pump and thermostat next. What a mess. ☕ 🗣 Join our discord for more: discord.gg/WvjvHxYnwq 👕 Merch: my-store-d4267d.creator-spring.com/ ✌
That car is really beautiful, I hope you keep it for a long time. And the issue you had isn’t really the fault of the car, it’s just wear on 26 year old plastic components. It’s probably best to overhaul all the plastic and rubber pieces on the car so that it can run for many more years without issues.
props to Ray for learning to drive stick! glad you were able to get it fixed and didn't overheat the engine or anything. Looking at it another way, you must truly truly love driving these old BMWs if you're willing to put up with the repairs lol
I had the same thing happen on the original plastic radiator of my 97 M3. I was able to get the hose back on what was left of the radiator neck and make it home. Solution? Buy a Mishimoto all aluminum radiator and never have that problem again. [I've owned the car for 25 years now] Buy a metal impeller water pump and metal thermostat housing at the same time. I see you spent $200 on a plastic radiator. The Mishimoto radiator is $300 here and you never have to worry or replace it again (lifetime warranty as well). Plus it provides better cooling.
You’re right. I was in a pinch and wanted to get it running, or else aluminum radiator is the way to go. Maybe i’ll end up doing it again in the future (along with the water pump and thermostat)
Old plastic parts man, it is what it is. Good stuff that its fixed now. After i heard the price of the radiator i was a bit shocked, im glad parts for these are much more affordable in Europe.
@@bendaga you will probably laugh but I live in Portugal and I have a 1988 audi 80 and my cars timing belt and tensioner are manufactured in Canada.😂 Original OEM parts.
All the way from Malaysia here, dude your videos are so darn educational & therapeutic after a long ass day. Wishing you a lifetime of all that’s good & great 🤙🏻
I have a 96 e36. That thing has given me 0 headaches. It's all about the owner, if you maintain her she will look after you. She is absolutely fun to drive, and the engine intake loves to make that loud throaty sound...
It sounds like you were short on time, but ideally you remove the cooling fan and pull out the plastic fan shroud before installing the radiator. It would have been easier to slide the radiator in and the fins wouldn't scrape against everything while you inserted it.
I just ordered a club like that after I learned Hyundais are easy to steal. Only the fact it is a manual transmission meant I have a car. Just got it back, the parts for the steering column and ignition were available.
I just did a coolant system rebuild with my water pump and thermostat and hoses on my e36 vert. The cooling system is absolutely something that shouldnt be overlooked in these cars, and bleeding the system is a pain in the ass!
These cars are typically built in colder climates, for example its highly recommended to avoid driving European cars in California as this problem happens very frequently. I seen so many BMV's break down at the side of the freeway.
You are supposed to do a whole cooling system refresh when you buy a e36 before you start driving and thrashing it, if it’s never been done before or you don’t know, DO IT. Every 80-100k miles it needs a refresh, also refresh it with metal upgrades not stock plastic so the cooling system actually lasts and you won’t run into issues like these noobs. 😅Replace the thermostat, thermostat housing with metal, metal radiator (csf makes a great full metal radiator) , hoses, fan clutch, expansion tank, metal water pump, and you are perfect.
For 230 you could have just got a mishimoto radiator would have been full aluminum and completely illuminated that worry 300 could have got mishimoto hoses too
It broke cause you using the wrong type of clamp to hold the hose to the radiator. When the coolants heats up the radiator also expands due to thermal expansion and the clamp currently on it won't so over time it would crack or break again.
the newest e36's are approaching 25 years old, the oldest are older than 30. is anyone actually trying to suggest you wont have a single issue with a 30yo car?

Thanks man. Yeah I don’t really blame the car, just seems to be a common issue on any 90’s BMW. An overhaul seems imminent

Yeah luckily it didn’t go to the red. Idk if I truly like old BMW’s that much or if I just like suffering 😅

Good idea. Glad you got it back 💯
Great work!!
I don't know if this makes sense but, it's kinda funny people like the video even if it's not fun having an engine blow up
Your lucky that you have the manual transmission, the auto cars have a fan clutch that's really tight and kinda sucks to get out
E36 m3 is for sure a good buy. Price just crazy out here in South Africa
We going to get a video on his driving leasons too?
Samething happed to me at the same place where it popped off 😂

Always good practice but pretty sure all the pressure left the cooling system when the radiator broke

keep up the good work
I hate when that happens 😢 it happened to my chev suburban the plastic tank split
Oof sorry you had to deal with that

Why did you get back to the old rims, why??
Still got the other set, might get some new wheels for this
You still got that old Subaru hatchback? 👀

Not only old same thing happend to my uncles 2012 520D lol
i replaced the turbo on my f10 and the inlet water pump pipe exploded unfortunately so now i wait for bmw to send me a new one

E36 s dont like to idle that much. They start to overheat and blow coolant hoses
That was my dad he would have glued the hose back on the radiator and drove as far as possible
Cool
thx
That will help some you for some time to not fail
Another reason why to buy a Japanese car.
