Wow! That’s really really nice to hear, you don’t really think of that stuff when you’re making the videos but to hear it genuinely helps others bring me a lot of joy. I appreciate you spending any of your time here. Much love 🖤
I know this feeling of accomplishment. i too have spent countless hours tinkering with many engines and there is nothing that compares to the satisfaction in your heart after seeing all your efforts make such a huge difference in this new "piece of art" as my dad would tell me growing up back when I would buy an e30 for 1000 bucks, and do exactly what you are doing. taking every individual piece and making it spotless, because of the love. keep on loving brother! 🤙🏻
The day isn't complete without watching a video on your channel. This is the dirtiest I've seen your shop since you moved in! That feels like ages ago! Great work as always!
Haha thanks man! This definitely was dirtiest I have made the floor, no doubt about that. However I think it’s about to get worse with some upcoming stuff haha
There’s that S52 content! Excellent work on the restoration, that was a ton of wire wheeling. Lots of satisfying ratcheting too. I love my power tools but manually ratcheting just feels right. Engine looks mint.
This is such a beautiful video from a uniquely gifted creator. Cars, for me, are a pure joy and an escape from the depressing nonsense that overwhelms our lives. It’s the one thing I am allowed to enjoy with a childlike sense of wonder. Your videos rekindle that awe and appreciation for these gorgeous mechanical souls that never cease to fascinate. “Thank you” can’t convey enough appreciation, but truly- thank you!
Thank you so much Johannes! I believe that everything you just said is very relatable for a lot of us. There are very few things in life that allow that genuine disconnect. Appreciate you for taking the time to watch 🙂🖤
Hey man just wanted to say thank you for the great content :) You’re the only car guy on RUclips with a shop looking like a Designer store, a great eye for perfect shots, great editing and a sense for style. But most of all i admire your dedication to detail aswell as to your community. And all of that all while being as calm as your background music…truthly amazing man Ps: Hope you cleaned your shoes afterwards tho :)
Thank you so much man! You really pointed out all the things I really do care about and genuinely just enjoy. I appreciate you for watching the videos, it means a lot! Much love 🖤
i bought the drivetrain out of my first car at the junk yard recently. sad to see my first car is going to the crusher, but im extremely happy to still have the drivetrain out of it. with that being said, im excited to start tearing it down for a full restoration and swapping it into my 88' ED6 civic. thanks for the inspiration!
Back on 2012 i replaced the headgaskets since im already there i cleaned the plenum the rods rockers etc. For the heads i used a acid from BettyMills worked wonders. The engine was entirely clean and sparkling that same year i lost my 1992 Acura Legend to Sandy. But an engine sparkling clean is at best.
When i do this, i only paint the parts that where either painted from the factory or have had corrosion so paint would help prevent it happening again. Also a steel wire is not suffecient at getting all the corrosion of, the correct method would be blasting. Also 2K paint is reccomended, the one you used wont last if it sees fuel or oil...
About five minutes into this job, those sneakers would have been covered with oil and my down jacket ripped in three pieces. Props for all you did, but especially on keeping clean! :P
Hey, how come you are not filthy, messy and disorganized like most mechanics? Very nice work, you make me want to work on my car!! lol I just had to like and subscribe based on how clean this is being done.
You should have used Dupicolor primer, DE1612, at least for the block. The paint will most likely have adhesion issues. Source: I did the same thing a decade ago with the same motor.
**This video is sponsored by Shop Towels**😂 19:28 did I just spot some Lorinser RSK2’s!?!? Wtf man!? 😂🤣 out here buying all the wheels I want just to hurt my feelings This video was so incredible man. I dig tf out of your content, your style, your builds, your mod choices, and overall vibe. This video especially gets me hype since It’s exactly what I’m wanting to do with my e36 after I get my coils on. Want to pull the motor, fully clean the bay and do a respray, refinish the block/head/components, and just have a fully perfect/mint OE bay but lightly shaved (I’m not giving up power steering or AC, because fuck that) and do a full wire tuck with some trunk and fender well relocation 👌🏼 Can’t wait for more dude 😎 hopefully one day in the future, when my e36 is “done”, I can road-trip for a BMW/Euro show or something and actually see your build(s) in person 🙌🏼
First off, how many hours of work did this take you (roughly) not including dry time on the paint? Frickin amazing work, the fact that you were able to accurately remove everything is my fav part 😂 really awesome Second, man you made this look way easier than it is 😂 I’m currently on day 1 doing this on my m54b30. Like the tape over the holes, that takes me 1 minute minimum each one 🤣 don’t get me started on getting all the crud out of the crosshatched patterns. I thought it was gonna be a nice, enjoyable cake walk 😭
@@ChromaticGarage No problem. I have only watched Ford, Chevrolet or even VW engine restoration videos but no one of BMW videos. Is nice to see something new. 👌🏻 Greetings from Mexico City 🇲🇽

What an underrated motor

Haha I think the Dremel will be coming out a bit more this summer. Thanks Henry!
I wish when I worked on cars it would go this smoothly
Haha if only everything made it in the video. This car stuff ain’t easy 😭
Absolutely amazing bolt organization...
They’re getting plated so they were fling to get messed up regardless
while its out change bearings, vanos revision, timing chain, ... Now is the moment. You wont regret it

Beautiful engine, amazing job!
good job, is there a reason why you are not using impact or cordless ratchet? isnt that the easy way
No real reason! I find hand tools more methodical when taking more delicate things apart like engines 🙏🤝
Amazing detailing video
Thank you Elias!
what socket set brand are you using? the black ones?
I honestly wouldn’t recommend them so I’m not even going to tell you. They break constantly 😒
Luv those high tops!
Thank you king!
Imagine if you had something else to cover the valves like a valve cover :P
Haha I preferred to do it this way, it felt like the right way 😭
Which wrench are you using with what brand sockets? i'm looking for a quality set.
They’re Stanley, I actually wouldn’t recommend them unfortunately 😎
@@ChromaticGarage No worries, but right now I'm using all different tools I found at the thrift shop.

Very nice but why not reseal the vanos and timing cover gasket while you’re there?
I have a e39 528i with a M52 Engine and i love it.

Almost makes me want to rip out my engine out and clean it :D

Stunning

I think dry ice blasting is faster in cleaning the outside parts of the engine.

nice vid nice edit nice contend. bit u shoul have sand the engine for the spray colour to stick
