- Getting insurance on a fast second car as a young driver can be quite difficult, but these cars offer sporty performance and looks without entirely rinsing you for your cash.
They're 10 cars that probably serve many ages, but as a young driver you'd likely be very happy to get insured on one. I know I would be!
As stated in the intro, insurance details are in my video on cheap insurance, but for the sake of the quotes I'm a 21 year old male, living in a relatively average area for insurance, and just about grasping onto being a student. All the other details can be found here: • How To Get CHEAPER INS...
I hope you enjoy the video/I hope this helps!

haven't even got my first car yet but already thinking about my second car 😂
Haha always thinking about the next one!
SAME
Same ahaha I've just turned 16 and already have a idea what I want as my first car now i wanna think about my second car
Second car I’m trying to cop a mustang
SO TRUE 😂😂😂
Mate swear you’ve read my mind putting this vid up, great job!
Glad it helped!
Megane rs 😍
wow i’ve just come across you videos in a long time, when i was 17 looking for my first car now i’m 20, it’s great to see how much you’ve progressed! keep up the good work man you helped me out getting my first toyota back in the day!!
This video is perfect timing currently looking for my second car at the moment👍🏻
Haha lucky coincidence!
Me too and I'm 21
Great video. What would have been useful is Urban MPG figures for the cars (I tend to use the worst figure as what the car will average). Younger drivers also need to factor in fuel costs as well as insurance costs.
Love how much detail you go in on each and every car with their positives and negatives. Really enjoyed this.
"Just finished uni thinking about getting something faster" exactly my thoughts except just done 1st year☝️ great video mate
Just done 2nd, still waiting to upgrade 😂
Alfie Ewles just done 1st year too haha
@@M17_Max cmon lad
@@DavidGmyz yes son well done
Alfie Ewles I’m 13 I can’t wait to get a car
Brilliant reviews JB. I'm not myself a younger driver, but a huge performance car fan. Some great choices. Also a good one you missed is the Z4. Possibly not a lot to insure for younger drivers, but certainly worth a look at.
4k to insure for me with very generous options that I put on the insurance quote
Amazing vid mate once again. Funny thing is I think I’ve considered about 6 of these cars on this lost for my second car. I find the 2.0 turbocharged cars (megane rs , golf gti , Astra vxr etc) are quite cheap on insurance for a younger driver. Settled for a polo gti 6c which I’m collecting next week. I’m 18 with 1 years ncb and the insurance was £1070 which is really good. Thanks for keeping me entertained during quarantine 😎
Would I be able to get insured on a golf gti 2010 at 17 ?
good work as always, appreciate the research you put in!
Nice one man.. That must have taken some time with the insurance quotes etc. Great work
Excellent video once again mate. Didn't know you could have a V8 Jag at that age?!!? Seriously insane. That's probably the one I would have if I was a 21 year old me again. What a machine!
Cheers Alex! Honestly I tested a quote for it on a whim, not expecting anything, and got that decent quote!
@@CarsWithJB I can't believe it. Imagine having a proper V8 sports car at 21?! The noise, the presence, the power. Just perfect.
This is the video I’ve been waiting for. Perfect mate 👍🏻
Glad it helped!
Love yhr amount of work you put into vids especially these type of ones also how's your dad's /yours 206 coming along
Appreciate it man! It's coming on well - definitely got a very long way to go, but cool to see it progress
Really appreciate the content dude, not many people cater for the post-uni age group
Appreciate it boss, was basically making this video for many of my mates post uni!
The Rocco is the one to go for ;)
Yh 2.0tdi gt 170 59plate are 3-5,k
@@FIared echt niet je hebt er een in Duitsland voor 6 -12 rug
i want to get it as my first car
@@FIared ja
Just a shitrocket tho
Z4 is also a really good shout. Face lift 3L 275 bhp and insurance is around 600-700 if you’re in your early 20s
Glad to see that the 50k subs mark is coming around real fast :)
*_Yes !_*
Let's get it!
Look how far hes come now lmao
Wanted to ask what location and “occupation” did you put down, as they are the main factors
So pleased to see how you are growing man. Such informative videos, you deserve it.
Appreciate you sticking around for so long!
Keep making more videos like this bro 👍🏼👍🏼 proper helpful
Will do bossman!
After owning a 987 Boxster last year when I was 21 I would defo recommend it but set aside around £1000 for repairs
Video idea: (not good but idc) what about vans for ppl who want to buy through a business 🤔🤔
(Not sure if you can buy through a business used but just thought it was an idea)
Have thought about doing vans for a while now! I'll add to my list and see what I can do
is not a bad Idea, there are a lot of ppl that like, to have a Van and Tune ‘em
I would like to have one by the way:)
maybe do next series at 22 with cheap to insure 20k cars (when they got their masters ;) ) or maybe people would be interested in cars lease prices? new market/viewerbase? keep it up :)
These videos help so much appreciate it!☺️
Love the Rocco, build quality and perf
Just changed my car. A lot of the cars listed on this video were in my shortlist. In the end went with a 370Z. I'm 21 and insurance was just under £800. Definitely consider it!
Dude how 😂where you getting insurance from ?
@@eddyspence6943 tend to use Money Supermarket to find the cheapest quotes.
@@eddyspence6943 no people get it all wrong, it’s not just about the engine size and performance
It’s the crash toll as well of a vehicle.
So rarer cars like Japanese imports that have lower crash tolls will be cheaper to insure.
I looked and for myself it came out to like 7k lmao
I can get you very cheap insurance if you're interested?
I’m looking at getting an Audi S5 v8 but those Jags are tempting! Great video bud
i’m thinking of getting an audi a5
@@Infinity-dp8sc I got an S5 v8, love it! If you are going diesel I’d recommend the 3 litre one, quick and easy on fuel
I just got a fiesta 1.6 with 100 hp a few days ago but I’m already looking for my second car is a 350z worth it for 100 bucks insurance a month? Note I live in Holland insurance is different here
JB, I strongly feel that the VW V5 Golf is missing from this list! The 2.3 litre engine in that little thing is a right laugh!
That is a very fair shout - but I've got a cheap-to-insure classics video in mind where it may fit well!
Moving to uni, due to having learners insurance in my own name I’ll be having 2 years NCB, car insurance has stayed below 600 for a mark 1 306 XUDT
Amazing video. Even though I just bought my second car, I’m already looking at getting a faster car when I turn 22 (3 years) and it’s clear you do a ton of research. Can we get a part 2?
Haha I know that feeling man! It'll definitely come in the not too distant future 🤙🏽
Literally just bought a Sirocco as my second car and I love it !
Congrats on the purchase!
I’m lucky enough to have one as my first car, they are great!
@@J90SRY me too :)
keep making these man they rally help out
is a 1.4 scirocco good first car, will insurance be out of the roof?
Informative video. Great work
I was also thinking maybe you should make a video on the best temporary cars as lots of people are buying temporary cars at this momment of time and i think for someone to look for something reliable that could get you to A to B for 4 or 5 months or less without a problem would be good
talking about the 135I, I'd say another great car you could have thrown on this list was the 125i E82 M Sport. its just a detuned 130i in a coupe body, so lower insurance rates and a quick tune gives you upto 280bhp (~5.6s 0-60).... plus none of the N54 issues
can confirm, it's an amazing car. Naturally aspirated + rear wheel drive, really can't think of any better car for the price. Although I am biased as I own one lol, blows my mind that it can still get up to 45mpg on a motorway journey
I have black box insurance from last 4 months I notice all new quote I am getting is 200-300 higher than my current policy. should I cancel the current black box policy and go with non-black box one?
I can thoroughly recommend my second car for fun, but not for safety! Mk2 Golf GTI. It’s not the fastest but everything feels like 10,000mph!
I’m wanting something faster got a 2016 corsa one year no clames any suggestions?
What website did you use to get the insurance quotes?
Nice video enjoyed it. I should have bought myself a scirocco R
I'm 22 and hoping to do my test post corona, I'm looking into a nissan cube to turn into an itasha :) Would love a video on UK itasha if it's even possible.
Yo I literally commented this last week and you made it a video! 😂
I wondered why there wasn’t an insurance quote for the jaguar? I’m 23 and would love an XK for a daily driver!
I been driving for 1 year got a 1.4 polo for 1.6k with blackbox, I been driving for 1 year and will have 1 years no claim bonus... any cheap insurance auto cars to get next?
Abarth 180 Comps are about £13k+, they’re the 2016 and newel models. The Series 3 comps (in the pictures you showed) are 160hp
Hi ,
I have a 2009 2.0 ltr TSI Scirocco ( insurance under £300.00) and a 1996 4.0 XK8 ( classic insurance £160.00)...I’m 65 yrs old and love them both. Some things worth waiting for......insurance being one!
What about a 22 year old first car for the sirroco r how much would that be
Fiesta ST?
with the modding potential its a perfect work/fun car with serious performance.
also kinda feel its an underdog. where i live it's quite rare so quite a few people underestimate it.
Jb can you please do a review on Jaguar xe vs Jaguar fx which one is better to buy
I recently found out that for under 20 grand you can get some pretty crazy vag saloons. Namely the 2015 passat and skoda superb. Either with a 2.0 biturbo tdi with 240hp and 500nm or a 2.0tsi with 280hp and 400nm. And the funniest thing is that both are cheap to insure due to their safety features, are cheap on tax, and have moderate fuel consumption. On top of that both are easily capable of 300-400hp with relatively low cost. Both between 14-17 grand. Which I think is a great deal. I have always been looking at big engined cool cars, cause they are cheap as well, like a lexus isf for 15 grand, but problem is due to emission regulations, these cars will cost an arm and a leg to keep running due to expensive tax and insurance, while these vag group cars dont cost a lot more than a regular car, while they offer stunning performance. That 2.0tsi can be pushed to 400hp before the internals need to be upraded which is ridiculous imo for a 4cyl! the BiTDi Im not very knowledgable with, but that as well just with a remap does 315hp and 600nm so pretty sure it can be pushed a lot more as vag diesels are usually more durable for power gains than the petrols.
I can get you very cheap insurance if you're interested?
How about if I was 19 for roco R? Insurance wouldn’t be that cheap would it?
what site are you using to get the quotes
I had a 2006 Acura TL as my first car when I was 17, when I was about 18.5 I upgraded to a 2011 Scion TC, and now that I’m 19.5 I’m ready for something even better, any good recommendations? I want something that’s roomy, not too heavy on gas, reliable, and of course FUN and fast, my budget is about $12k~, I have $20k saved up but I don’t wanna blow it all on a car lol
Are u from the UK or America? i cant help but notice the wheel being on the left side..
I Just bought a slk350 and i actually looked at quite a few of these cars listed. insurance was only 180 quid, i'm 43 though. its a preface lift r171 with 3.5 v6 with 272hp and a 0-60 in 5.6sec's. absolute bargain btw. i'd recommend it to anyone. best thing is due to it not being a boy racer type there are quite a few really low mileage well maintained cars out there. which are reliable and pretty quick, bonus of being a hard top convertible. warning though if you get one you'll want the slk55. :D
How do you get the insurance quotes
how you predicting insurance when it’s different for everyone?
Even with a much higher budget than this, the Jag is too expensive to run so any 21 year old buying it would have to be a bit crazy!
I've always had a soft spot for the FN2 Type R, love the triangular exhausts and stacked dashboard.
The 135 is obviously the winner's choice if you want to go fast, although a 21 year old is definitely going to crash it...
Agreed - but it would be a huge flex on the occasions you could afford to fuel it! I'd love a 135 but my dad's never been positive about that engine block, and when he says no I definitely listen lol
@@CarsWithJB I have looked at an XKR but the fuel economy is literally twice as bad as an E63...the standard XK is a bit better but still horrific.
That BMW engine sounds so good though...
Never been this early before - it’s a strange place
Welcome 👋🏽
Cars With JB also - did the Ford Fiesta ST miss this list? Early examples are comfortably under 10k now
how old for that cheap insurance on the 350z?
would scirocco be good for a first?
Hi from Romania! I've saw a few scense are from videos made in my country! Nice choice ;)
Haha sick, greetings from the UK!
Great video, I feel like the Audi s3 8p is missing tho. You can pick one up for under £10k, 265bhp 4 wheel drive and insurance at 21 will be under £1500. None the less all comes down to personal choice. once again sick vid!
Cap
Insurance on them is maddd
People chat a lot of rubbish about the abarth however I personally think it sounds incredible!!!
I daily a 2011 scirocco, but the gt 2.0 tsi. Even cheaper to insure and the same engine as a mk6 gti. Mapped they make the same power as the R. Highly reccomend. Love the channel by the way ! 😊 I had a 1.2 9n before✌️
Done well there! Didn't know about their mapping potential - and cheers boss!
I’m 18. So what’s the best recommended car for me?
Can you do a video of cars under 1000 to buy Or a Ford Fiesta mk5 zetec s
Can you add mpg as well?
hi jb, i’m thinking of getting a z4m40i, i live in a high insurance area, costing around £1200
Is not the xk8 a british gt which is not expensive to insure!
My first car is an 05 Astra GTC and I am in love with it, no other car makes me feel the same when I look at them apart from an e30 or something, selling the Astra will be very hard for me...
I mean who else is driving a two tone Astra GTC
That's solid - I'm hoping to review one in the future as they're nice little cars!
Wow, never expected the Jaguar. 4.2 Litre V8! It's such a nice car. I guess I am part of that small classy group. Although I love all the cars especially the scirocco
do these cars have aux input
Are these with or without paying interest?
So, I had a polo 9n, I upgraded to a seat Leon FR MK2 it’s pretty quick, I’m 21 and my insurance is 1k with 1 year NCD. Leon is 211 bhp
my first car was a 1.6 fiesta that cost me £2600 to insure 6 years ago at age 20. it's all about the place you live.
I’ve just been quoted £900 for an ep3 type r and I’m 19 with 2 year NCD. Needless to say I’m off to buy one tomorrow 😁. Bit of a step up from a 1.2 tsi polo. Not a bad little car, just a bit boring.
We’re do you live I don’t get a quote less then 2 grand in Manchester
Would but the abarth just for the LSD😂jk. Just be careful about the Porsche because getting it serviced is extortionate. Lovely car though. These vids are brilliant. Love them. ❤️
How do none of these cheap fast cars have the gtc vxr
How much is the jaguar x150?
Lool imagin being 18 with no no claims bonus living in central London For me there isn’t a thing called cheap car insurance
lmao i live in Birmingham, i’m 18, 1 years no claims and getting quoted 2k
@@tristan4186 lucky, i got quoted 4K a year with black box for a 2.0 litre Rocco
I can get you very cheap insurance if you're interested?
@@smxly- that’s insane 😭😭😭 they just don’t want us to drive fr
@@eprep9745 yeah I’m gonna wait few more years then I’m getting an S3
where on earth do you live to get such cheap quotes? I'm 23 with 2 years additional driving experiece ( 1 years no claims) and I get quoted £1500 on a vauxhall corsa in Birmingham!
Scirocos are really good handling cars I thrashed my dads 2.0tdi sciroco it was remapped to 250hp it was rapid I was flying down an empty industrial estate at 100mph lol
What about the 3.2 audi tt mk2 quattro?
I've got a 2010 Toyota yaris as first car. But for my 2nd I'm kinda thinking of getting Audi Q2. It's little over 10K but brilliant small SUV.
i found a golf gti 2.0 but the insurance was 900
can someone confirm this?
I bought my 5.0 Jaguar XKR at 21 last year. The 500bhp 5.0 is mega fast; expensive to run so be sure you can...
A good friend of mine has a Scirocco GT 2.0 tsi, it’s mapped to 280bhp and it flies!
The DSG scirocco r 2016 model actually does 0-60 5.2 😉
I’m 16 and gives me butterflies thinking this will hopefully be me 5 years :))
Haha next year you’ll be on the roads too hopefully!
Me thinking this in my head and you uploaded ages ago
how did you get the insurance so cheap the abarth for me is £1,500 with black box
I can get you very cheap insurance if you're interested
Didn’t know that my boy (350z) is that cheap 😢 350z is one of the legends
Would a standard vw sirocco be cheap on insurance for a first car w/o blackbox
I've never been able to get cheap quotes on it sadly, but maybe you'll have better luck!
If anyone is looking for something fast, practical and economical, get an A3 quattro 2.0 tdi, you can find them for around 10k, nice practical interior and they come with 180 bhp and remap to 220+. They're fast enough without the remap because of the 4wd and handle great
ive been looking at quotes for a sirroco R as a 21 year old, living in hertfordshire, with both parents as additional drivers and 4 years NCD but cant seem to get a quote under 3k
I’m not sure where he’s getting the quotes or what he’s putting in but they are miles out for most people. I needed a solid 6-7 years no claims before any of these would have been reasonable for me
