Great video. What would have been useful is Urban MPG figures for the cars (I tend to use the worst figure as what the car will average). Younger drivers also need to factor in fuel costs as well as insurance costs.
wow i’ve just come across you videos in a long time, when i was 17 looking for my first car now i’m 20, it’s great to see how much you’ve progressed! keep up the good work man you helped me out getting my first toyota back in the day!!
Just changed my car. A lot of the cars listed on this video were in my shortlist. In the end went with a 370Z. I'm 21 and insurance was just under £800. Definitely consider it!
@@eddyspence6943 no people get it all wrong, it’s not just about the engine size and performance It’s the crash toll as well of a vehicle. So rarer cars like Japanese imports that have lower crash tolls will be cheaper to insure.
Amazing vid mate once again. Funny thing is I think I’ve considered about 6 of these cars on this lost for my second car. I find the 2.0 turbocharged cars (megane rs , golf gti , Astra vxr etc) are quite cheap on insurance for a younger driver. Settled for a polo gti 6c which I’m collecting next week. I’m 18 with 1 years ncb and the insurance was £1070 which is really good. Thanks for keeping me entertained during quarantine 😎
Video idea: (not good but idc) what about vans for ppl who want to buy through a business 🤔🤔 (Not sure if you can buy through a business used but just thought it was an idea)
Even with a much higher budget than this, the Jag is too expensive to run so any 21 year old buying it would have to be a bit crazy! I've always had a soft spot for the FN2 Type R, love the triangular exhausts and stacked dashboard. The 135 is obviously the winner's choice if you want to go fast, although a 21 year old is definitely going to crash it...
Agreed - but it would be a huge flex on the occasions you could afford to fuel it! I'd love a 135 but my dad's never been positive about that engine block, and when he says no I definitely listen lol
@@CarsWithJB I have looked at an XKR but the fuel economy is literally twice as bad as an E63...the standard XK is a bit better but still horrific. That BMW engine sounds so good though...
Brilliant reviews JB. I'm not myself a younger driver, but a huge performance car fan. Some great choices. Also a good one you missed is the Z4. Possibly not a lot to insure for younger drivers, but certainly worth a look at.
I recently found out that for under 20 grand you can get some pretty crazy vag saloons. Namely the 2015 passat and skoda superb. Either with a 2.0 biturbo tdi with 240hp and 500nm or a 2.0tsi with 280hp and 400nm. And the funniest thing is that both are cheap to insure due to their safety features, are cheap on tax, and have moderate fuel consumption. On top of that both are easily capable of 300-400hp with relatively low cost. Both between 14-17 grand. Which I think is a great deal. I have always been looking at big engined cool cars, cause they are cheap as well, like a lexus isf for 15 grand, but problem is due to emission regulations, these cars will cost an arm and a leg to keep running due to expensive tax and insurance, while these vag group cars dont cost a lot more than a regular car, while they offer stunning performance. That 2.0tsi can be pushed to 400hp before the internals need to be upraded which is ridiculous imo for a 4cyl! the BiTDi Im not very knowledgable with, but that as well just with a remap does 315hp and 600nm so pretty sure it can be pushed a lot more as vag diesels are usually more durable for power gains than the petrols.
Excellent video once again mate. Didn't know you could have a V8 Jag at that age?!!? Seriously insane. That's probably the one I would have if I was a 21 year old me again. What a machine!
Great video, I feel like the Audi s3 8p is missing tho. You can pick one up for under £10k, 265bhp 4 wheel drive and insurance at 21 will be under £1500. None the less all comes down to personal choice. once again sick vid!
My first car is an 05 Astra GTC and I am in love with it, no other car makes me feel the same when I look at them apart from an e30 or something, selling the Astra will be very hard for me... I mean who else is driving a two tone Astra GTC
talking about the 135I, I'd say another great car you could have thrown on this list was the 125i E82 M Sport. its just a detuned 130i in a coupe body, so lower insurance rates and a quick tune gives you upto 280bhp (~5.6s 0-60).... plus none of the N54 issues
can confirm, it's an amazing car. Naturally aspirated + rear wheel drive, really can't think of any better car for the price. Although I am biased as I own one lol, blows my mind that it can still get up to 45mpg on a motorway journey
Amazing video. Even though I just bought my second car, I’m already looking at getting a faster car when I turn 22 (3 years) and it’s clear you do a ton of research. Can we get a part 2?

If anyone is looking for something fast, practical and economical, get an A3 quattro 2.0 tdi, you can find them for around 10k, nice practical interior and they come with 180 bhp and remap to 220+. They're fast enough without the remap because of the 4wd and handle great
I have a 2013 VW scirocco 2.0 TSI which i got for under 10k at 19, not bad performance too at 210bhp, less than the R ofc but insurance was only £950 so another good alternative to the R model

I Just bought a slk350 and i actually looked at quite a few of these cars listed. insurance was only 180 quid, i'm 43 though. its a preface lift r171 with 3.5 v6 with 272hp and a 0-60 in 5.6sec's. absolute bargain btw. i'd recommend it to anyone. best thing is due to it not being a boy racer type there are quite a few really low mileage well maintained cars out there. which are reliable and pretty quick, bonus of being a hard top convertible. warning though if you get one you'll want the slk55. :D
I unfortunately seem to be an algorithm anomaly. At 26 years old with no accidents having passed my test first time at 21 years old I was consistently quoted between £3,000 and £10,000 for a 1.6 Skoda Felicia. I’m looking to get my first car, I want something that has similar kit as the 2016 limited edition Corsa, does anyone know of any sporty looking cars that aren’t to expensive to insure for a first car?
My personal favourite is the first gen Vauxhall VXR8, can get one for about £7k and the insurance for me was £1.4k a year. Plenty of power, plenty of noise and plenty of car for the money. Cheap to maintain too.
Can you do this same type of video, but diesel, as there’s a lot of you drivers who want a fast car but need the MPG too to commute to work daily etc :)
A much cheaper alternative to the Jag - Mercedes CLK500. Pretty much the same specs and style of car, but more practical. I had an early 2003 model at 25 and it cost around £800 to insure. Just gotta watch out for rust!
Cars With JB thanks. That’s quite surprising actually. Didn’t expect them sort of quotes. I’m 19 at the moment with 2 years ncb and I’m paying £1400 on a 2.0L 2002 Golf 2.0L but only 115bhp.

@@CarsWithJB I've got a 2016 5dr. They're fun and nippy, but not fast. And you've got no chance of getting more power out of it, without big mods.
I’m looking to get my first car, I want something that has similar kit as the 2016 limited edition Corsa, does anyone know of any sporty looking cars that aren’t to expensive to insure for a first car?
Go for the 2015 model corsa lime red edition, best looking car in class and has everything you need like car play and the like
I’ve got an A1 S-line as my second car. I’m 19 and I’m paying £700/yr insurance for a 1.4 122 petrol. And I love the sporty looks of the S-line.
I can get a video done on it!
Cars With JB appreciate it, keep up the good work👍🏻
Best bet is a 1.0L eco boost fiesta, will drive better than the corsa and will be much quicker.
A good friend of mine has a Scirocco GT 2.0 tsi, it’s mapped to 280bhp and it flies!
I wondered why there wasn’t an insurance quote for the jaguar? I’m 23 and would love an XK for a daily driver!
Out of curiosity I priced up a gt86 for me (a 19 year old in uni) they quoted me 640 which is insane
All I want is a french blue mitsubishi evo ralliart
Imagine - what a dream 🤤
I can thoroughly recommend my second car for fun, but not for safety! Mk2 Golf GTI. It’s not the fastest but everything feels like 10,000mph!
My personal favourite is the first gen Vauxhall VXR8, can get one for about £7k and the insurance for me was £1.4k a year. Plenty of power, plenty of noise and plenty of car for the money. Cheap to maintain too.
Rebadged Holden commodore
@@menukaariyadasa5863 Yeah, I know. As is every single VXR8. But the Vauxhall's are far more easy to come by in the UK than Holdens.
@@saintmobius5348 what are the prices on Vauxhall’s vxr8’s?
I can get you very cheap insurance if you're interested?
i miss the scirocco more and more every day :'(
Such a sick car man!
Suzuki Swift Sport 2014 is another good option. Huge spec and 0-60 in 8.7
You should do one for big suv that are cheap
So, I had a polo 9n, I upgraded to a seat Leon FR MK2 it’s pretty quick, I’m 21 and my insurance is 1k with 1 year NCD. Leon is 211 bhp
The DSG scirocco r 2016 model actually does 0-60 5.2 😉
Love the Rocco, build quality and perf
been driving 2 years I have a 2007 335D Msport fully comp with all the goodies 1800
how much was it?
@@mnrkm £6500 mate had all the big problems sorted om it still running sweet now only needed to replace a spring and a PS4 since owning

is a 1.4 scirocco good first car, will insurance be out of the roof?
My Budget is around 6000€ and the car that interests me the most is a Renault Megane Coupe 180 TCe, so a Bit less powerful than the rs.
bro is this the rock
My second “car” is a 2010 Ford Transit 😂😂
1999 Jaguar xk8 not as classy as the x150 but cheaper! One of my girlfriends has a Jaguar xk 2012 for 16000£ with 40000 miles!
Mini cooper s r56 will be my second car. Had a quote without a black box for 900

Can you do this same type of video, but diesel, as there’s a lot of you drivers who want a fast car but need the MPG too to commute to work daily etc :)
330 or 335d best diesel car all round
A much cheaper alternative to the Jag - Mercedes CLK500. Pretty much the same specs and style of car, but more practical. I had an early 2003 model at 25 and it cost around £800 to insure. Just gotta watch out for rust!

hi jb, i’m thinking of getting a z4m40i, i live in a high insurance area, costing around £1200
Hi from Romania! I've saw a few scense are from videos made in my country! Nice choice ;)
Haha sick, greetings from the UK!
Interesting you can get insured on the scirocco for so cheap. How old are you if you don’t mind me asking?
For the sake of the video I put in 21 year old with 4 years no claims, but I'm a 24 year old with 6 years no claims!
Cars With JB thanks. That’s quite surprising actually. Didn’t expect them sort of quotes.
I’m 19 at the moment with 2 years ncb and I’m paying £1400 on a 2.0L 2002 Golf 2.0L but only 115bhp.
Jb can you please do a review on Jaguar xe vs Jaguar fx which one is better to buy
