- Take a 3D scan directly into Geomagic Design X 2016, and use automated and semi-automated tools to quickly transform the data into feature-based solid CAD models - ready for direct transfer to MCAD!
I used to be a mechanical designer for 10 years. This brings back anxiety.
Do you provide this mesh to practice with or follow along?
I am wondering if there are any tutorials that do not use the auto extrude wizard? Sometimes scans in the real world don't already look like complete solid bodies.
Which was the format you imported the cloud of points? I got it in .E57 and .dwf but I can't introduce it in design X. Any suggestion?
Are you hitting a hotkey to hide objects? If so, what hotkey
Kinds funny they chose this part to demo with. One could reproduce this in fusion 360 with a simple caliper in probably half the time and with fewer steps.
How do you take raw scan data and get it to a mesh good enough to start modeling from? Do you need to reduce the size first?
Thats a Design X speciality. wide range of point cloud processing tools and many options for converting mutiple scans to a merged mesh. You can model with a full resolution scan data set, but depending on your system resources or personal preference you might be a little more efficient if you spend a little time upfront to optomize or decimate the model.
I need help please!
I sucessfully importing scan data, but when I try to make "auto region", it take hell of a time to finish (~ 1h), and after my PC finished, too much color regions appears. Is it possible to reduce mesh quality somehow to make process faster?..
when I try to import STL file Geomagic tells me that this format is not supported. Help pls. I use Design X
this is an excellent software but Class A surfacing still not implimented.
Please how can i import a model in wrap format (.wrp) into designX?
This isn't really scan data, looks like a completed mesh. Could you do a tutorial with a raw scan data file?
I use a Creaform Handyscan 700 and the raw scan data is an STL mesh like what is shown in the video here. You can choose when scanning if you want points or a mesh in VX Elements.
Thanks, Glados
