    6.9 seconds to 60 was described as "not too embarrassing." I could just be getting old, but that's bloody quick for a car of that type!

      @@martinh4509 it's not embarrassingly slow, I've got an old BMW which hits 60 in 8 seconds - and at no point did I think it's a slow car. 6.9 is really pulling in the real world.

      @@martinh4509 But the point is we're comparing the base engines here not the top ones from the German brands against the T5 from Volvo. The base model petrols from Audi, BMW as Merc are all slower than 6.9 seconds. For now the T5 is the base S60.

    I have the new XC60 for just over a year now, and the times I go through the menus is so minimal. Once you set all settings, thats it. The things you mostly change is the temp, stereo and nav. All these can be accessed easily with just 1 touch. Or you can use voice command.

YEAH RIGHT.

    • @NickLiang
      @NickLiang 4 года назад +1

      Well if you compare the car to the BMW g20 330i which is the equivalent engine, and spec it the same level, the volvo is only very slightly cheaper, yet the BMW does 0-60 in about 5.5s and better economy. Resale value is also much higher with BMW. So all in all, volvo is seriously under performing.

    • @vomErsten
      @vomErsten 4 года назад

      The Volvo is heavier, more lethargic, and slower than similarly priced and specified cars from the German competition. A loaded S60 T6 R-Design is about USD 60k at MSRP; that's the kind of money that buys you an Audi S4, not that you'd need to buy anything more than an A4 to get a lighter car with more tangible pep and equivalent perceived quality. And the Polestar Engineered? Priced like a loaded S4 or M340i, but can't hang with them at all. Save your coin, get a normal T8 and throw the Polestar Optimization tune if you really want the hybrid capabilities.

    I don't agree that all Volvos look the same. The s90 has a different side profile. The v90 has a different rake to the back than does the v60. The xc40 looks quite different from the xc60 and the xc90 isn't just a bigger version of the xc60. And if you want more speed and less firmness for the ride, don't get the R, get smaller wheels. Certainly there are few bad roads and hence most auto manufacturer increase the ground clearance of the same product sold elsewhere in the world. But the thing also is that India is an uber premium market for the automotive industry and hence almost every auto company bring their top spec version to India instead of confusing customers with various permutation and combination in engines and trim levels as in other markets. And that’s why it’s about time Volvo should have brought S60 to India by now. But before that, they really have to get reliable service network as well which is absolutely dud in India. And consumers here are pretty sensitive about and conscious of after sales service support as well.

    I think that this is another great What Car review, being indepth, unbiased, positive and objective.
    Kindly note that my 2012 Volvo S60 R Design 2nd generation has the same plastic ticket holder on it's front windscreen. Is it therefore likely or known for certain that Volvo did in fact fit this facility on their cars before the Skoda ones which you mentioned?
    Surely for the entry models and above with this size, weight and automatic transmission to have 250bhp and a nought to 60mph acceleration time of less than 7 seconds, is no mean feat by any standards? Especially as the S60's derivatives other than the R Design with this same engine will be even more levelled at comfort too.

    I don't bother about some BMW or WMB series 3 or 100, I don't want to be added to family of stupid, aggressive drivers who makes BMW nasty reputation. I will rather drive Volvo and enjoy peaceful perception from other drivers. By the way Volvo build quality is the best, safety the best, comfort for driver best. Saying that Skoda Superb got more space, yes but got more space than BMW 3 too (if you are so obsessive about BMW). Volvo driver is someone who doesn't need to prove anything neither to itself or the others, something like Mazda drivers. If you are happy, balanced you are winner anytime no matter how many BMW lack of IQ drivers will pass you.
