Lived there for 5 years. Stunning city. The best architecture, culture and cuisine in Italy. 375k residents and 12m visitors per year. So you were lucky to experience a quieter moment.
Hey Anne, trying pick up some tips from you, since I have a trip to Firenze a day before Christmas and don’t want to be without food for a couple of days. Do you know if they’ll be it least somewhere to get groceries or take out on Christmas Eve?
As a Tuscan and part Florentine i really appreciate your video. No gimmicks, no stupid mandolins in the background usually used by foreigners to represent Italy( It's a south Italian stuff only and from the 50's at most) , just straight to the point showing Florence. Thanks.
I simply am IN LOVE with Firenze! I was just there (again) a couple weeks agao. I plan on moving there in the coming years-- thank you for this video upload
I have some many lovely memories of Florence of when I was an art history student in Pisa. In Florence there's a very interesting contrast between the austere facades of the palazzi and their opulent interiors. Enjoy your stay there!
These videos make me so happy🙂. Working retail just sucks the holiday joy out of you, and videos like this helps restore my love for the holidays. Thank you so much for posting
Am missing my Tuscan home right now, so this really boosted my spirits! Italy really does exude Christmas spirit...it's beautiful! Thank you sharing Julie and looking forward to your future episodes! 🥰🤗🎄🎇
Julie, as long as there's rain or snow around on Christmas, I am happy! Such weather makes the holidays so cozy. Beautiful Florence! Can't wait to see what you've been up to there. Love and happy holidays to you and yours💕💕
Julie, I like your attitude and interest! Might not be your channel's bailiwick but this may make an interesting video or video series. My favourite are classic novels. Usually contemporary novels written in past eras. Some novels have very detailed and very interesting descriptions of their current styles, architecture etc. It's always fun when characters, written in say the mid 1700s, are enthusiastically discussing antiques or a house's "history", just like you do minus 300 years. George Eliot (mid 1800s) is my favourite author (a female with a male(ish) pen name for literary acceptance (actual is Mary Ann Evans)). She and her controversial boyfriend lived in Florence for about two years to study the history and culture to write Romola, a historical novel with lots of description of everything. From the descriptions it seems possible to even map the streets, waterways and bridges of the Florence of the time. I'm not sure but it seems that Florence has preserved enough of it's past that even now the locations of many of the events of the novel could be identified. For decades I have wanted to read the book again in detail and take a trip to Florence to see how much is recognizable and correlate the history with the places and events of the novel. Any trip to Florence would be very interesting but tracking the novel to the city, and the city's history, would be fascinating. I have actually avoided seeing or reading anything about Florence so I could see/study it all at once during a long term visit. Alas, it appears I won't get the opportunity. Maybe your channel could do it for me......
Buongiorno Julie and Jack here we are in Florence my heart leaps when you bring Christmas cheer from Italy working while vlogging Bellissimo mulled wine while shopping at the market just fabulous a perfect start to my day💖👌Countdown in the palazzo yaaaay what a magnificent tree Grazie Mille always a pleasure Amore💖💖😘😘👌👌🌟🌟🌲🌲✨✨
Was in Florence, Siena and Montalcino in 2016. The temperature broke the day before we landed in October, but the throngs of people made for long lines at the Uffizi and other must see attractions. Good for you traveling when you can move about so freely. Italy is my favorite country. Enjoy!
SO PRETTY, and l am looking for the rest of the videos and you talking little more about that job and yes more about Italy.. Happy Holidays and the best to you, the family and your team.
My husband and I loved Florence! The Duomo was stunning! I loved the Espresso there! Beautiful Christmas market and town center tree! Merry Christmas to you and your family and staff! 🎄 Snowman ⛄
Julie, You and Jack are in wonderland..a very special Place..enjoy..please take Time for shopping..And I Can't wait to see all.. Merry CHRISTmas ITALY. it's pouring here and 🥶. Chio..
You know when you go somewhere you have never and you feel like you are home? That is how I felt when I went to Florence. I would move there if I could. I bought 2 Gucci bracelets for $10 each, they are each worth between $300 and $500.
I’m pretty sureI’ll never get to Florence, let alone to the Christmas market, so thank you for enabling me to experience it vicariously 😊. Merry Christmas to you and your lovely family! 🎄
My daughter's undergrad degree was in Art History, and her graduate degree was in Architecture. She spent a lot of time in Florence while getting her Architecture degree - can you imagine any place better?! For either Art History or Architecture? But, she said often how magical is Florence, and not only for the architecture, but for the food, the scenery, the people, and the history! I would love to see it for myself!
My daughter is over with us in Dubai from University in Florence. I actually wish we were in Florence instead . Maybe next year 🙏❤️ Especially with an Italian husband 😊 wishing your family from mine a very blessed and happy Christmas. Love health and happiness from Dubai ❤️❤️
We went to Florence in June last year- v hot but not too busy. We flew with BA but I wouldn't recommend them - they have no ground staff at the airport there and when they cancelled half the seats on our flight home on the Friday (because it was too windy for the full plane to take off!) there was complete disorganisation to get us home- the Italian staff at the airport really didn't care about us and communication was appalling. We were fortunate to get flown home the next day but it took them a whole day to get it sorted and we spent from 9am to 5pm in the airport! Some passengers had to wait til the Sunday and fly from Pisa. Apparently this happens quite regularly! There are good trains from Pisa and they take less than an hour to get to Florence so if we ever go again, or anyone wants a recommendation, I'd fly to Pisa and then take the train to Florence (cheaper and planes less likely to be affected by the weather).

Are restaurants or grocery stories open in Florence on Christmas day?
@@FlyPhillyFly24 I don't know. I was always having dinner with my family. I seriously doubt it.
@@annemaxwell9975 do you know if restaurants and grocery stores are open December 24th?

If police catches you buying that stuff from Senegalese it will fine for 2500 euros, just saying.
What a wonderful time of year to be in Italy! Christmas time!!!

Hi, loving the video. Could you please let me know until when the Christmas market is open in December? We will be in Florence on 23rd December.
Well yes my friend Julie in Italy there needs to be garlic on every thing cooked to eat EXCEPT THE ICECREAM
So your subscribers know, your video has maybe confused the nativity scene outside the Duomo as the scene of the market at Santa Croce?
Nice video
Omg I have just realised you were there at the same time as my daughter as she sent us the Christmas lighting before she flew to Dubai . So lovely 😊
I can’t believe you didn’t spend Christmas at Mapperton!
This was before - last week. am at Mapperton now

Much fewer decorations than when I was last in Florence. Cost of electricity?
