In the Rising of the Shield Hero, there have been a lot of changes from the web novel to the light novel and the anime. One of the most interesting differences between the canons is how Myne or Malty is punished in the web novel versus the light novel and anime. In this video I give you all the spoilers about what happens to Myne as Shield Hero goes on. Does Myne die? Does she ever pay for her actions? What does Myne do later in the story? There are spoilers in this video about Naofumi, Trash, the heroes, and even who is behind the waves, so you have been warned!

What bugs me more than Myne being evil is that I realize some real people are not too different than her.
Yeah, we had a trial recently about someone who was like her - except she couldn't fake her way in a public trial.

@@demonmysterykid3343 Ha ha ha how naïve... in one case yes but for the most part no since even a trial clearing a man means in the eyes of public opinion "eh he just intimidated the witnesses." There is justice for Johhny Depp, but no justice for others accused. At least if you're accused of burglary, you're only _sometimes_ guilty until proven innocent instead of 99% of the time.

Perhaps, but unlike the real life annoying, entitled and weakling bitches, Malty aka Bitch goddess really does have the potential, looks and will to power to back her up in the Shield Hero universe! Thats why shes a great character despite all the hate.

The image of lyno literally stabbing bitch in the back in volume 19 is one of my favorite pieces of art from the light novel.
I know much about the story through Recaps about the anime but can I ask you why does she does what she does? I theorize that she's from another world and she's just sabotaging the heroes but that's just a theory on my end.
I preferred her web novel death. So much more satisfying. And the fact the it was all the heroes who voted to send her there was just icing on the cake.
One thing I like is the play on the "But for me, it was Tuesday" trope. Normally it plays out with the hero facing the villain, identifying themselves or their grudge by describing some horrific act the villain committed and the villain has no recollection because that's an everyday thing for them. Here, instead Rino realizes from the start that she's just one of countless victims, and that Myne would never remember any particular one, and so doesn't even bother to disguise herself in any way. I don't know, just embracing and exploiting the fact that your enemy never even cared enough to remember your face seems to add a little more satisfaction.
The jewel recording of Myne is essentially a sunf film.
I love the amount of hate and venom that Naofumi has towards Tact. I love the death scene of that S.O.B.

Azula kinda felt redeemable though, Myne never feels like she has even the slightest bit of good in her, and it's not even like she has a sad backstory - it's established that she doesn't and is just a genuinely bad person.
@@NatalieXHunter Yeah the difference between Azula and Malty is Azula was bad for her fathers approval. As bad as King Trash is he never made either of his daughters feel like they had to earn his love. He loves them unconditionally. His problem is he spoils them.

I remember reading that fight where she gets killed thinking it was so incredibly bad ass! That entire fight is my favorite in the series. The fact that out main cast isn't overpower for once, but rather are very very under powered in terms of levels and such. But they win due to training and teamwork rather then being totally dependent on abilities, very different from usual isekai.
And then seeing the main antagonist being absolutely owned like that was awesome.
Gotta say though, as much as I hate her, she's an amazing character. The fact that pretty much everyone gets such strong emotions whenever she's around. And she just keeps getting worse and worse, that shows the skilled writing to pull that off. She's not just evil, she's almost an embodiment of the worst that humanity has to offer, and that's pretty impressive.

She isn’t bad anymore but she one of those characters that is kind of bad but isn’t fully bad but she isn’t good either I don’t know

Considering how Myne's trial was changed in the anime I'm assuming they'll also change Naofumi's reaction to her death compared to the light novel.
If the anime ever gets to LN 19
They left out allot of good parts from the manga like one of my favorite parts was when Myne begged for noafumi to spare her not only did her face scream that she was acting but she actually said his name wrong and they also took out the fact that it was naofumi that sentences her to death out of pure rage.

As per usual, an amazing video. I genuinely love when people actually do their homework, reading the books instead of just scouring the wikis, as if it couldn’t have mistakes or anything. 25 out of 10 video
For the people that think that the “goddess” might be a thing on the light novel, it won’t. Aneko themselves has actually commented that the story on the light novel has developed too differently from how the web novel went, and the end boss, as well as the end would be fully different from the web novel. (ill edit later with the source, because I remember aneko mentioned it on a blog post)
the funny thing is that “The Vanguards of the waves” is not the actual name of the group belonging to “The one that pretends to be god”, but rather, just the front line, that is just thrown as cannon fodder, disposable units. We learnt that “Vanguards” can actually try to join the army of the fake god for real, but doing so, they are put into probation, and until they pass, they are still treated as entirely disposable. While these disposable units are thrown around, the real forces are on the move “looking for somebody”.
minor correction: on the light novel, malty was never sent to Faubley/Forbrey, as she escaped from zeltoble (where they found her with itsuki) before getting captured. From there, she escaped to Faubley, where she convinces tact to pull their coup d’etat, and to set-up the ambush for naofumi and her mother.
As for her death in the light novel…its still amazing how karma catches up to malty, as Lyno/Ryno’s real reason to hate malty isn’t that she was sold as a slave… but that Malty simply didn’t even care to remember her face and name at all when she sold her off, and we learn that Lyno came to Malty with both real name and face, and Malty didn’t even recognize her.

It was according to her one of her most challenging roles that she has ever done.

Delaying gratification for Myne's ultimate death will just make it sweeter, and who knows, it might be even worse than the Web novel version.
Banger video, Natalie. Congratulations on your new sponsor as well. As a (mostly) web novel reader, I kinda liked the idea of Myne being a fragment of the Goddess Madea sent to ensure the heroes failures. But I also really like the idea of the change in the light novel as well.
It's interesting to see that she also started world hopping as well to get away and make her moves. And I like that in the light novels that the plot thread of the party members she sold off were indeed rescued and give a job to track her down and kill her.
Myne is definitely an antagonist written well to the point that her own father finally realizes how much of a threat she is and needs to be put down.

Light Novel: she gets killed by one of the Side characters that she screwed over the in the past .. it's very possible more Side characters that she screwed over would want a piece of her.
Web Novel:.. Brutal.. She Died at hands of Degenerate King.. keep in mind that before she meet Naofumi.. it was implied this wasn't the first time she makes false accusations toward innocent Men and unlike Naofumi they did not have the protection of being hero and were likely executed... So her First Death in web novel While Messed up was Ironic Considering Acually Dies at the hands of a degenerate King.

good lesson for writing though... if you have a subplot for a hook, make sure to have the audience led to another subplot or main plot that keeps them invested in whatever character is the main emotional vehicle for the story

Seems like you actually played Raid for a bit lol based on your commentary which is commendable. The thing about Myne is she gets surprisingly worse even after getting punished by Naofumi which many other stories wrap up completely. Rising of the shield hero not revenge of the shield hero. Season 3 looks like when Myne returns and does some more fuck shit since season 2 likely covers volume 6-9 with the spirit tortoise and other world arc. You have to applaud Myne for somehow damaging all of them. The story seems to have similarities with Arifureta since there’s also gods and the protagonist is put in their lowest position like Naofumi too

I think they figured the trial would have chaneged her or whatever happened with the last party (I don't remember his name).
Myne is a manipulator she waited till they were in a emotionally weak state then struck. She is actually pretty cunning, she waits till a person is a weakened state then uses them for her own goals.
I really never noticed the resemblance before but now that you pointed it out you do have some traits in common as far as character design.

I remember some spies of the queen in the anime, I think 2 of them were following Naofumi team and one was in charge to protect Melty... In the second season, we see again one spy of the queen to help Naofumi team too, wonder if she is her ? At least I remember seen 2 spies of the queen on the anime if I'm not confused. But I wonder how the queen (her mother) will accept that or feel. After all Myne wanted to kill her own little sister, she did many bad things, do her father will died too ? Since he does many bad things too ? Or may be less dangerous ?
Those spies, Shadows, are different- they do come up again in the future. They're basically ninjas. The spies sent after Myne are girls the Queen rescues from brothels.

this just prooves that the people are right and Myne for better or worse is the biggest villain /plot engine of the whole series . thats why the writters basically made her unkillable.
The version of the story I read is the one were myne is publicly executed by her father and glass was there in attendance and glass Sicked a souleater on her and it had her in the clutches of her uncle and the shield hero So the video but if I remember right the queen was not dead she dead after myne went to her uncle the queen and the shield hero group were supposed to be picking up myne 's body just to find her some how alive and myne caused her mother's death and the trial happened and Execution happened after that and for some reason glass was Attending the execution and used a souleater on her ending her right then for ever if I remember correctly 😊
12:12 Off the top of my head just say something like "king of Owls/Ravens." Both animals have that association with Wisdom due to Odin, and Athena. Though maybe that changes the connotation too much.

This woman is even worse then i thought, no wonder standing orders for Mine is shoot/stab on sight. I do like that shes becomes the common enemy to bring Naofumi and the others heroes together, also i have a feeling she will be the final boss or the final boss will possess her and Mine dies with the big bad.
Also if Naofumi absorbs Mines soul with the soul eater shield would that mean she lives on in his shield? i think thats something Nafumi would want to avoid like the plague.

I'm hoping you'll cover the (major?) change they made in episode 7 of the anime, I'd like to hear what impact you think it'll have on the plot. I'm wondering if at this point the anime is kind of going to be its own thing. I don't really like when they change a lot of stuff, but episode 7 was the first episode of the season I genuinely liked a lot. Though, I'm thinking the change could affect the future romance in the story a lot. If my understanding is right, the change could affect a lot of things, though I could be very wrong. If that's the case, perhaps it's better if the anime just does it's own thing because it's already changed quite a bit.

So she has the thiccest plot armor in the franchise, i hate her but what i hate more are characters that return over and over and OVER again to the point not even death stops them, what a trash way to make her more relevant when she only needed to be one of the first enemies, this isn't a revenge story but it seems like it due to Myne keeping coming back and making all wanting to kill her for all she has done.
