Oh no! Tomatoes can take a beating, but these temperatures lately are no joke. My grandson decided to give the dog a bath and filled the tub as normal outdoors with the water hose. Our dog put one paw in and backed away... Glad you were able to save a few. Take Care, :)
Oh Wow!! I'm learning that the temps aren't anything to play with.. I never really been an "outside" person. Always indoors tinkering with one thing or another. I'm learning (very slowly as you can see) to pay close attention!!
Wow! Well, you live, you learn. But you learned two things from the experience; that's a good thing! It's probably a good idea to keep the suckers on the seedlings until they have established themselves in their final container or bed. I never remove the suckers off my tomato plants. I don't see the point of it unless you're trying to train them to a very confined space.
Hey Little Bean, I think they are on the mend and will pull through.. They are way behind the rest of my tomatoes but given that they survived I'm giving them a gold star!!
Bummer I hope they come back for you. I sometimes use a pot of boiling water instead of digging or sprays to kill weeds. Have a great day. Best wishes Bob.
New sub here. I hydro grow in my greenhouse and yes Mam is sure does get hot in there! I keep the main tank in the ground to help cool it but it is still a battle during the heat of summer to keep it cool enough. Hope your maters bounce back for ya!
Thanks, I hope they bounce back as well.. I've learned my lesson and will make sure to check water temps from now on.. Thanks for the sub and I'll make sure to sub back!! Stay well!!
Been there, done that, not out of the greenhouse just a container left outside in the sun. Tomatoes are much stronger than we give them credit for, hopefully they will be ok. T
I thought this was some kind of soup judging from the title alone in my notifications lmao tomatoes are amazing for the most part they want to live in My experience
DevaJones03, now that I look at the title it does seem as though I put the roots in the pot!! LOL!! Yeah, I've noticed that they will struggle to survive through the novice attempts at gardening.
Please don't change the title. First of all, there's nothing wrong with click-bait--that's why I watched the video! Second, I wasn't misled; I knew immediately what had happened. I've burned tomato plants by watering them with hot-sun boiled water in the hose. And, yes, tomatoes just want to LIVE! The very first time I grew tomatoes from seed I did something terribly wrong and all the tops broke off or rotted off. They were tiny 1-inch babies that only had the first leaves so there was nothing to save them like sideshoots. I was so distraught that I just prayed and hoped against hope that they somehow would recover. I continued to water them and before long they developed a new pair of miracle leaves at the top. I've never seen that happen since!

Gardening Addict, I hope I can see them through the growing season without further incident.
