Utter pleasure and honour to have met this man. And contrary to what Arthur says he IS a hero.
I’ve sat for hours and hours listening to this magnificent man, his fascinating stories mesmerising me, and I could sit for many more hours given a chance.
    Nothing but pure respect.
I cannot put into words how much respect I have for you, but I did always tell you.
They really don’t make men like you anymore.
I bought your book as promised “fighting fourth no4 commando” and read it as promised back to front, which is saying something for me as I don’t read books in the main. I would love you to have signed that book for me I must admit.
Anyway, a pure honour to have met you Arthur, Thank you for inspiring me and sharing your stories. I hope you know my listening was pure genuine, Rest assured they was mesmerising and I’ll never forget you or your stories and I will share your stories and always remember and never forget No4
I hope your doing good Arthur.
    Take care x
I do hope this message finds you xx

It's sad and I can understand the burden, but on the otherhand the Germans executed anybody who talked to Allied soldiers.
And Resistance Fighters who were caught ended up even being torture before that.
My Granddad fought somewhat to the east on Tholen Island at the same time and one of them got caught at the German Main Defense Line covering the retreat of 2 others.
It took a while before he passed away.
