      So true
I wrote a paper on Adolf and the party for political science.
Everybody thought i was trying to promote him. lmao. The paper was almost entirely positive.
I embraced all the things he did to earn respect and even the love of the German people.
Especially after achieving leadership. This was his crowning moment. He came through on every promise.
It was not until mid war that the love for Adolf started to wane.
And if you are wondering about the crimes. The vast majority of Germans had no idea what was going on. It's hard to imagine. But governments can hide things from the people. What Adolf is guilty of is not forgivable.
So the point of the paper. To show how decent people could raise to power a monster. And even love him.
By the way. That was about 30 years ago i wrote that. And i did call for the US to be the most likely to repeat the same mistake. Sadly... it seems i was correct.

I love how He would start a speech with literally several if not close to 5 - 6 minutes of silence as he gazed into his adoring followers as he observed them observing him. Then, as any dramatic horror movie, after many tense moments of time and anticipation he would abruptly start with a very low tone and calming tenor and announce particular party goals to quickly follow with magnificent gestures and hands flailing around as to intensify the seriousness of what he was about to proclaim. In some instances he would almost cast off a supernatural type behavior as though he was taken over by higher and mightier forces as he angled his head backwards and thrust his tightly clenched fists into the air and then before you knew it he was back to two hands resting on the podium and totally silencing himself. As he looked about in an almost brilliant maneuver to gage the response to his performance.
    He was something else.

The source of Hitler's gestures in his speeches is pretty obvious, in the USA "elocution" was a subject taught, to not only speak but use various gestures to emphasize one's points. Also, by the 1920s silent films were big, and those used a lot of gestures too so this was probably also part of Hitler's "modern" approach to things.

Ian Kershaw’s books on Hitler (there are three, I believe) are supposed to be good and are on my list, though I’ve not read them; ‘The Death of Democracy: Hitler’s Rise to Power and the Downfall of the Weimar Republic,’ by Benjamin Carter Hett is another one on my list to get; Christopher Browning’s ‘Ordinary Men: Reserve Police Battalion 101 and the Final Solution in Poland’ is another slant that goes into the psyche of everyday-people-turned-murderers, and on that note you might be interested in Timothy Snyder’s ‘Bloodlands: Europe Between Hitler and Stalin.’

Great video. But what most fail to explain is the why. Why he can to power. The treaty of Versailles. My mom was 17, my father 19, when Hitler came to power. They explained that before him, there were millions out of work, starvation, suicide, and Germans were raised being told they were to blame for the first ww, and they should be ashamed. Huge chunks of land were taken. France occupied the western part of the country where all the coal was. Hitler changed all that. They said it was like night and day. Everyone worked. He restored pride. Everyone had food. The people were told the communists were trying to destroy the new Germany. Remember, the only communication they had were newspaper and radio. After six years of unheralded prosperity, they believed whatever the Fuhrer said, look how far he’s taken us. Then the war broke out and the rest is history. It’s still the same today in the world. Think about it. Our governments tell us we must go to war with this country or that country. Do we the people have say? Do we or the average soldier know everything our military or government does? No. Yet the people of the country are blamed for the actions of their government. Another Hitler will rise again someday. You can see it happening in the US today and other parts of the world. It’s the Weimar Republic all over again. The rich elites get richer, the working class gets poorer, and are told to sacrifice more. The people are to blame because they’re racist, they need to be more accepting, get rid of pride, the flag, religion, heritage, customs. And sacrifice more and more. Then one day, someone will come along and say, are you tired of watching your country, history, traditions and way of life being destroyed? It’s not rocket science. History will repeat itself. But people new to understand how Hitler came to power and why. He was elected after three attempts. It’s not because Germans were rabid crazy nationalists. He was their lifeline and the only one they saw at the time. When you’re starving, out of work, and can’t feed your kids, and someone comes along and says follow me I can fix it. What would you do. It’s easy now 80 years later and sit back and judge

Read about WWI! It was the wealthy German elites that started that war. Yes, Hitler did use that wartime failure to rise to the office he finally did. Some Germans were Crazy Nationalists, not all. Hitler was no lifeline, just a load of fascist promises, Though yes, the only one to be seen at the time. No one is the only one that can fix it, Not even Donald Trump here in the US. I do understand not having a home, being Hungry, et. al. I judge Hitler, not Germany.

The birth and rise of Nazism has to be understood as a concatenation of different causes:
    - The Treaty of Versailles in 1919, which sank the German economy to a total chaos, when forcing Germany to pay billions of dollars as war compensation.
    - The massive inflaction period that began as a direct result of this, and which went through well until 1925.
    - The unnefective economic measures of the Weimar government and their uncapability to deal with the poor economic situation, and the surge of Nacional-Socialist protesters was gaining credibility as years passed by.
    - The 1929 Wall Street crisis, that buried Germany into a deep external debt due to its dependance on heavy loans from the U.S. since 1924.
    - Another period of crisis originated from this. The second in ten years. Massive unemployment. Hunger. Dessilusion.
The path for the Nazis was laid on. And they arrived in 1933. They didn't give a coup d'etat; they won a democratic election cleanly. The German people were so fed up with empty words and promises, that they thought "Let us see what these Nazis can do."

Except from the quite thorough illustrations of how Hitler's intellect was formed in his younger years, and the influence from Karl Mayr, this is merely a superficial version of the rise of the Nazis, particularly about the events during the last years before Hitler became chancellor. Also when it comes the economical collaterals from big business, there were several industry owners who gained support, also in the US. But there was furthermore a highly important and comprehensive political game where influential backers helped Hitler and his party to attain position. Also the Versailles Treaty and start of the Great Depression were crucial to pave way for public belief in Nazi rhetorics. There are several fundamental factors that aren't even mentioned.
