Great video, but you fail to mention the dealbreaker for android in my opinion: lag. I have had all of these. You name it, I've had it. All of the Amazon devices become impossibly slow after a few months, to the point of me wanting to smash their remotes in frustration. Yes, it is that bad. Reset to factory setting helps, but it you are like me and have every single streaming service known to man, setting all that back up is just not viable to do every couple of months. The Shield was the best here, but even that succumbed to lag after 2 or 3 years. Apple is a different story, I have the latest 4K with ethernet, as well as a 4th gen one with the old remote. These things just work, period. No lag, no frustration. I'm an old school PC gamer (keyboard, not gamepad please) so the streaming to TV things offered by the Shield are a little gimmicky in my opinion. My takeaway: I have a Shield in my family room TV, where everyone watches something. What's in my bedroom where only me and my wife watch? Apple TV 4K ethernet.

excellent points, i can't imagine the Apple TV every becoming laggy, it one of the benefits of them not letting you mess around to much with the UI and settings. we've had the Shield for a couple of years, no lag yet, but it's running a custom lightweight launcher so we don't see any of the google nonsense. i personally haven't seen any lag with our Fire Stick 4K Max, but that has very infrequent use and we only ever run one app on there. other Firesticks i have seen it, surprisingly around the same time they updated to UI to include more Ads, urgh.

@@BuzStringer with the custom UI/launcher you can still use the Shield-specific features like the 4k upscaling, right?

No lag at all on the Shield Pro for me after years of use

My Sony X90L Google built in is killing me with random connection and buffering issues to what is apparently an 'excellent' connection? Why!???

Apple TV remote bound to iPhone action button is a game changer

it certainly is, you can do some really cool things with a iPhone like calibrate to color of the TV with the iPhones camera, which is insane. BUT, if you don't have an iPhone, Apple TV loses a lot of what makes it unique. although there are no extra full screen ads which is pretty unique at this point

RUclips shows me how many people made it right to the end, it's very few so thanks 😂 that was the hardest part of the video, my camera battery died with how many takes that took to get right.

surprised you didn’t mention Roku with a big as it is

I Have video planned around Roku as the alternative, but I did find it hard to put in here, because it's not the best spec/Price/feature wise BUT it's far from the worst and kind of sits in the middle (imo of course)

Thats my favorite, but we need a new model! The current model is fine, and still very fast but WiFi6 and HDR10+ would be nice.
