When my mom was young she was nearly killed by a stalker that followed her for a long time like this. He eventually jumped her and started to strangle her. She only got away because she stopped struggling after a bit and pretended to be unconscious and when the guy let go she took off and out ran him. It's good that the road was busy but still you never know when someone like this will actually end up being dangerous and no number of people watching on twitch is gonna matter if the guy is crazy enough to not care. Jinny probably should have called the police because you don't know if they're just a weirdo that doesn't realize how creepy they're being or if they're actually dangerous and it's not worth the risk. Really glad it worked out alright though and that she's ok.

She took it well? It looked like she was dense about the whole thing not paying attention half the time until chat spotted him and made her check her back every now and then. It's great that she ended up safe with a happy ending, but most of the time these cases don't end up all bright and happy. I don't understand how you can do something like this with no sense of awareness. Chat:"Oh did he get up from the bench" Her "uhhh idk".. at what point do you start blaming the person being stalked for not taking action or finding safety. I get things should not be this way anywhere in the world, but the reality is things are. These people are live streaming their locations.. it doesn't take much for someone to drop by and doesn't matter how many thousands of people are watching, if someone is covered up enough she could have been easily kidnapped.

Also if they're the ones that called it in, that could give the police time to surveil the stalker to find the right timing to confront and arrest them. I noticed at the part where the police caught them, it seems like she did take a different route off the road they were following her on. Though I wonder if the police was following them both and she just turned off the main road at that moment and caught that little snippet. I guess since they (stalker) did become aggressive with the police she couldn't really stop and give a statement and probably walked on on the road to the right (viewer's right/her left as everything we watch is in a sense mirrored).

I have been a victim of stalking and I always say this; be sure not to refer to the person stalking you as "my stalker." instead, say "a stalker" or "a person stalking me" because calling them your stalker makes them feel like you have validated their delusion that they have a right to do so. that being said, regardless how the perpetrator views it, in no way is it the victims fault in any stalking scenario. these are my tips from experience, not ways it could have been prevented. no tactic is ever surefire but everything is worth a shot at safety. it's important to spread awareness on ways to possibly de-escalate the situation and increase chances of safety. remove titles, spread word, alert authorities, and share your experiences.

If she actually was attacked, then we'd have called her incredibly stupid, which goes to show that it's not so much bravery more than bravado honestly, I don't think she truly understood just how bad it could have gotten, seeing how she chose to walk by the dude purposefully. That had to have been one of the stupidest things ever to do in that situation. She should have called authorities much sooner.

Just to clarify, I'm not outright calling you wrong. I'm sure there are people who would say that. People and their responses range the entire spectrum, but I'm just saying, that in my own personal experience, those are the comments I most often see or that stand out to me, and your experience seems to differ. Interesting, albeit weird, I guess. Kinda.

@@KingPinguofDingu I also agree it doesn't feel like the best idea to walk directly by the dude.. I mean, cmon, at least cross the street. That's literally like a common saying for a reason. But yeah, fuck dude. It's always, always better to be safe than sorry. I don't want to pretend to assume too much, but just how casual and calm she was to do something like that, gives me the impression that she's never experienced being assaulted or ever made to feel you've had your sense of safety ripped away from you. Speaking from someone who's grown up and always lived in a really bad area, you just don't take these kind of risks.
And at least in my experience, I believe I even heard Mike Tyson say something very similar in an interview about his childhood.. That, being jumped, at least has the possibility, it may not happen to everyone but certainly did to me, that it takes this sense of safety and security you once previously had, and you can never truly, fully get it back. It only takes a moment for you to realize just how vulnerable you as a human, and all human beings are, and how quickly someone can make you feel powerless and defenseless, if not take your life away, it only takes an instant. And that shit can be and is deeply scarring.
I haven't been in a fist fight since roughly half my life ago, something like 14yrs? and I STILL look over my shoulder every several feet, constantly vigilant and taking in my surroundings, always noting where exits are in stores and buildings. Idk, I guess I wouldn't exactly wish it on anyone, but to see someone so careless and not cautious in the slightest, I don't really entirely know how to feel. Almost a slight envy that her reality is one I could never go back to, but should at least be tweaked for the sake of her safety.

The country doesn't matter. The fact of the matter is that the police can't really do anything about a person allegedly stalking someone on public roads unless they make some form of contact with the victim. After all, an isolated stalking incident is damn near impossible to prove. In this case, I'm sure the Taiwanese police were only able to do anything because of the guy's demeanor and how he acted around them, which gave them justification to arrest him. Otherwise, they probably would've just told him to leave her alone and wait till she called again if he continued. It's unfortunate how that works, but from a legal standpoint, stalking usually requires more than someone just being in the same area as the victim for a prolonged period of time, even if it's obvious what they were doing.

Her job isn't merely being a woman either. Her job is being an internet celeb and filming 24/7, so people she's trying to wring money out of will get obsessed with her, will know where she is at all times, and will definitely wear clothes hiding their identity because they know cameras are rolling. Movie celebs or politicians have been really picky about going outside forever due to obsessed masses always having dangerous individuals, and streamers still casually walk alone in the middle of nowhere giving their whole precise location to everyone at all times, while making sure to entertain their viewers' parasocial relationship. Whoever you want to blame for this, it's not about "women should be allowed to whatever", because that definitely didn't happen because she was a woman. It happened because she was someone with a huge following, having no other skill than just being attractive, outing her location to everyone, including the most vulnerable / mentally unstable people among her viewers. You can blame the guy all you want for his behaviour, and definitely should, but that won't casually stop without adressing the bigger issue.

Maybe her job makes it even worse, but honestly this is not that rare for non famous people. I'm too scared to walk alone in big cities because of experiences like this. This is common even for non famous women, while men, even the ones who stream, don't have to deal with this. And talking about it and judging creepy dudes won't change anything, I know that, but honestly some things men don't understand about women. Just like I don't understand many struggles men have to face everyday, many guys also underestimate how often creepy stuff happens to girls. I think men are under a lot of pressure nowdays and society is too harsh on them, and also women often don't feel safe.
