Yes! That in fact is the lead singer. 😆 And she is one of the best in the business. Su-Metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) just turned 16 years old the day before this concert. The other 2, Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) and Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) were both 14. The band members are all guys. The growling you heard was on backing track but Su has a fantastic voice though you couldn't hear it here.
Hahaha, sorry you made me cry laughing. Great first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Galaxy ... what an introduction for you. Oh in case you were worried #NotACult BABYMETAL are the three girls - Su-metal (lead vocals and dance), Yuimetal and Moametal (scream and dance - basically backing vocals and harmonies but mainly in charge of leading the crowd and getting everybody involved so they all become part of the performance). Legend 1997 was the show in December 2013 celebrating Su-metal's 16th birthday the day before. Yui and Moa were both 14 ... and yes they were probably doing their homework back stage right before the show. The instrumentalists (all male by the way) are the Kami Band, some of Japan's very best session musicians and BABYMETAL's full time support in all live shows since March 2014. At Legend 1997 they played the 5 encore songs - at that show they were Mikio Fujioka (RIP) and Leda Cygnus on guitars, BOH (6 string bass) and Hideki Aoyama on drums. This is just one of the things they do that make BABYMETAL one of the very best live acts in the world and why they have won awards to say that is the case. There can't be many bands who would crucify their lead singer on stage to celebrate her 16th birthday. There is a translation of the intro video in the description which would have helped a bit (perhaps) with understanding what was happening: "Legend 1997. (referring to the year of Su's birth) It is told that receiving the legendary neck brace from the god of Metal, she shall abandon her human life and be reborn as a goddess. The bloodline which has been passed down from ancient times is destined to be the guide, boarding the ark of time. The apocalypse is prophesied DOOMSDAY comes There remains... little time.." Basically this show was the final step in BABYMETAL transitioning from Idol group sub-unit (it had this narrative running all the way through and even started with a lip-synced dance remix of their song 'Headbanger') to independent metal band - it was also Su-metal's final step in her transition from J-Pop Idol - she was sacrificing her human existence and life as Suzuka Nakamoto, a J-Pop Idol, to be reborn as Su-metal, a Metal Goddess chosen to lead the Metal Resistance. 'BABYMETAL Death' was the first track on the first album and was most often used as the show opener (without the crucifixion) - it is the perfect introduction - that is what the lyrics are:- "B - A - B - Y - M - E - T - A - L Death Death Death Death Death Death. Su-metal death. Yuimetal death. Moametal death. BABYMETAL death. Death Death Death Death Death Death." It is a play on words. There is no 'TH' sound in Japanese, so to a Japanese speaker death sounds like desu (the U is silent) spoken with a slight lisp. Desu means "To be - I am - you are - we are - it is" etc ... so in Japan you might introduce yourself as "D desu" (I am D). All they were doing throughout the song was introducing themselves by name and introducing BABYMETAL by name - and 'death' is just the sort of thing you'd expect to be chanted by any self respecting metal band and their audience while the lead singer is crucified. There were a couple of homages in this performance too. The opening drum riff is an homage to Metallica's 'One' and the statue crumbling at the end pays homage to Metallica's Justice For All tour of 1989 where they also had a statue (Lady Justice) crumble at the end of their shows. The neck brace is a tribute to X Japan drummer/pianist/songwriter/composer Yoshiki who damaged his neck so badly headbanging that he has to wear a neck brace most of the time, especially when performing. On special occasions 'BABYMETAL Death' was used later in the show - Legend 1997 was the title of the show celebrating Su-metal's 16th birthday ... and they only crucify Su on special occasions. So far that has happened 5 times (plus a couple more in the shows at the Budokan they played earlier this year), the last before those was at Legend S in December 2017 to help her celebrate her 20th birthday - and that one had extra flames. Did I mention? #notacult
This was recorded in 2013. At the time, the center girl was turning 16 (this is her 16th birthday celebration). The girls to the left and right were 14.. Normally this song opens the concerts because it's an introduction (they are announcing themselves aside from the death chants, the lyrics are... Sumetal is here, Yuimetal is here, Moametal is here, Babymetal is here). On a few special occasions, they've used it in this fashion, with Su or even all three girls being crucified for show. You'll need to listen to another song. Others have suggested Headbanger from this same concert. That would be good choice.
Welcome to the foxhole 🦊🤘 You started with one of the heaviest BM song, nice! You said this is a cult? Nah man, this is just a normal club, like heavy metal club, you know, -NotACult- ;) If you're a Metallica fan you can spot this riffs at the _One_ song, as well of the -virgen mary- image behind (is not, is SuMetal resembles) they're truly BM sensei and they love the girls too.
Whenever you need to search lyrics and translations search for Du-Metal blogspot, this is the "kamishibai", prologue: "Legend One-Nine-Nine-Seven. It is the story that, receiving the legendary corset from the god of the Metal, she abandons being human and shall be reborn as a goddess. The gene which has been determined from ancient time is destined to be guided, boarding on the ark of time. The apocalypse prophesied the DOOMSDAY. Towards it, there remains... little time... (5) Are You (4) Ready to (3) (2) Mosh'sh (1) Mosh'sh (0) Mosh'sh"
I bet you never guessed the Queens of Metal are 3 little Japanese School girls dressed as Gothic Cheerleaders. She is being reborn as the Goddess of Metal and her songs put stars in the sky to shine down upon the people, this was her 16th birthday .
⚡ 💀 💕 / 💀 💀 💀 This song was used as their concert opener for quite a few years. Usually without the crucifixion though. : ) I saw BABYMETAL open for Korn & Stone Sour in Chula Vista, CA back in 2017. The concert was on Yui's Birthday on June 20th. There were Korn fans on either side of me, who were expecting something called BABYMETAL to be pretty mellow. They opened with 'BABYMETAL Death'. : )
1. Hahahahaha........ 2. Next time please react to BabyMetal Headbanger legend 1997 to know more about BabyMetal. 3. Don’t worry about your neck, Fox God has prepared a neck brace for fans. 4. Thank you for your reaction, very real reaction, I like it.
"Babymetal Death" is usually how Babymetal introduce themselves at the beginning of a concert, but here it is used as a big, insane, messianic, pun finale. FYI the lead singer is Su-metal and she is 16 and the two other girls Moa and Yui are 14. The backing band are all Japanese male session musicians. There are also couple of Metallica homages in the statue and the music. If you want a song that's really "out there" listen to BM's "Tales of the Destines" next. This performance is best understood in the context of the manic excitement of Headbanger and the emotion of Akatsuki that came before it in Legend 1997 and if you listen to all three songs together you'll get the complete operatic scope of Su-metal leaving childhood behind, embracing sacrifice and finally being reborn as a metal goddess. Yes it's very silly, but just go with it. #notacult. So on the day after her 16th birthday, as a present Su is transformed from a simple Sakura Gakuin school girl and reborn as a Metal Goddess to fulfill the plans of the Fox God, and that obviously requires crucifixion. The statue is Su in a "Mary likeness". It was also a transition in real life for Suzuku Nakamoto as a few months earlier she'd graduated from school and the idol group "Sakura Gakuin (Moa and Yui were still members) and had started to work full time on Babymetal. The use of the Christian crucifixion iconography here juxtaposes death and rebirth. This is echoed in the chant at the beginning; "Death, Death, Death.. , Su-Metal desu"...etc. The "desu" sounds like "death" to Western ears, but in Japanese it means "to be" - so the words are " Death, Death, Death... I am Su-metal, I am Yuimetal, I am Moametal, We are Babymetal". While this initially seems to be all about death it's also an affirmation of existence and being. Death and life/rebirth exist together just as in the crucifixion. Did I mention #notacult?
Thanks for doing this reaction, it was a good reaction. (I won't repeat everything others have already mentioned) "where's she going tomorrow ? School ? Class ?" Well, this was on a Saturday and while Japan has crazy ideas about how much school kids need... (many are in school on a Saterday !). But on Sunday she has her day off. :-) And just in case it wasn't clear: #notacult !
LOL, this is awesome. Starting with BABYMETAL Death is unusual, but at least you already saw them at their most insane, everything will seem more normal after this. I'd recommend you to check Headbanger Legend 1997 from the same show next.
BMD always makes an interesting first impression lol, glad you liked it! This is a bit of an unusual song for Babymetal, since it focuses more on the instrumentalists and the stage show (which are both incredible) than the girls themselves who normally take center stage, but they did historically use it as the opener for most of their shows up through 2017, and the lyrics (what lyrics there are) technically have them introducing themselves: the Japanese word 'desu' (silent 'u') means 'I am' or 'we are', which is actually what they're saying. 'Death' is just a pun on that because it's _more metal_. ;) So it is appropriate that this was your first experience with them. If you want to check out more from them, I highly recommend watching Headbanger from this same show (Legend 1997) or Catch Me If You Can live at Budokan Black Night (try to avoid the compilation videos that often pop up when you search for especially the latter of those two).
Also before I forget, did this get blocked on initial upload or was the copyright stuff just precautionary? It would be good to know for recommendations to future reactors. :) And links for my suggestions: Headbanger ruclips.net/video/r-2IY10k9KM/видео.html Catch me if you can ruclips.net/video/YiAJeKgufMk/видео.html
@@ReactionsbyD I'm sorry to hear you had problems with it getting blocked. :-( We still could see your reaction that's the important part. We've all seen the video before anyway. :-)
Legend 1997 Apocalypse is a concert celebrating Su-Metal aka Suzuka Nakamoto 16th Birthday 🎉(Seitansai) which took place in Makuhari Messe in Chiba prefecture. Metallic Fans will notice the opening riffs which derived from Metallica song "ONE" which pays homage to Metallica. Live:- Death Legend 1999 & 1997 Apocalypse (stylized as LIVE~LEGEND 1999&1997 APOCALYPSE) is the second live video release by the Japanese heavy metal band Babymetal. The album contains live footage of two shows, entitled Legend "1999" and Legend "1997" (named after birth years of the members of Babymetal), performed in Japan in 2013. It was released in 2-disc DVD and Blu-ray formats on October 29, 2014. Live: Legend 1999 & 1997 Apocalypse:, Released: October 29, 2014. Recorded: June 30, 2013 (Legend "1999"). Live: Legend 1999 & 1997 Apocalypse (2014). Live at Budokan: Red Night & Black Night Apocalypse (2015). The Destruction Of The Statue is similar to Metallica Justice for All live concert in Mexico City, Mexico 🇲🇽. The Japanese word "desu" (です) is a copula (= to be). The Eastern Japanese almost drop "u" of this word, so the word "desu/des" sounds like "death". And someone started writing "DEATH" instead of "です" (desu). It makes sense only where the Japanese word "desu" is expected to come. The title "BABYMETAL DEATH" means only "We are BABYMETAL." No relation to the death itself. I'm not sure of its origin, but I saw long before such a character as a vampire or a death metal singer in a comic and all his "です" (desu) were replaced with "DEATH" to emphasize his character. With such an air, it works well. Without such an air, it probably doesn't work. There is a genre named "Death Metal". The sound of this tune seems to fall within that genre, and the lyric writer may have put many "DEATH"s to emphasize the Death-Metal-ness. It might be alright to use many "DEATH"s without thinking of death if some of Death Metal bands also chose their style just to differentiate themselves rather than driven by the feeling about death. But I don't know the Death Metal well. MAKUHARI MESSE:- Makuhari Messe (幕張メッセ) is a Japanese convention center outside Tokyo, located in the Mihama-ku ward of Chiba city, in the northwest corner of Chiba prefecture. Designed by Fumihiko Maki, it is accessible by Tokyo's commuter rail system. Makuhari is the name of the area, and Messe is a German language word meaning "trade fair". •Owner: Makuhari Messe, Inc. •Opened: 9 October 1989. •Expanded: October 1997. •Classroom-style seating: 304 (International Conference Room). •Banquet/ballroom: 1,600 (Convention Hall). •Theatre seating: 7,860 (Makuhari Event Hall). Makuhari Messe is close to Tokyo Disney Resort in Urayasu, and to Chiba prefecture's black sand beaches. It is accessible from Kaihimmakuhari station on the Keiyō Line of East Japan Railway Company (JR East). The center is the host of the annual Tokyo Auto Salon (modified car show, in January), the biennial Tokyo Motor Show (in October), the annual Tokyo Game Show (video game hardware and software exhibition, in September), the annual Jump Festa (manga, anime, and video game exposition, in December), and the biannual Wonder Festival (toys, scale figures, and garage kits exposition, in February and July). The venue was host to several Nintendo Space World events. It will be the venue for certain sports during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Kitsune Up 🦊🦊🦊🤘🤘🤘🇯🇵🇸🇬#notacult.
First...great reaction! Second...welcome to Babymetal! Third...#notacult! I thought my 16th Birthday party was fun, pffff...no that's a party! I'm sure you have all the info below...looking forward to more reaction and welcome to Babymetal (Please put on your seatbelt!).
Great reaction...The look on your face was priceless...The Japanese word "desu" (です) is a copula (= to be). The Eastern Japanese almost drop "u" of this word, so the word "desu/des" sounds like "death". And someone started writing "DEATH" instead of "です" (desu). It makes sense only where the Japanese word "desu" is expected to come. The title "BABYMETAL DEATH" means only "We are BABYMETAL." No relation to death itself. WELCOME TO THE FOXHOLE...
Love it! Someone really threw you into the deep end here, my friend. That's an interesting one to start with. Much better than "Gimme Chocolate", which is popular mostly because it's Babymetal at their goofiest, and not necessarily their best. You should do _"Road Of Resistance",_ live in Japan, next. That will get you properly hooked, and more susceptible for all the Babymetal trivia that we inevitably will shower you with :-)
@@dread_kaathulhu4903 thats what he said much better to watch than Gimme Chocolate as his 1st reaction . Headbangèr same show i think would of being much better choice 🤘🦊🤘😁
gimme chocolate is a fun thrash synth pop metal. I just love how they put those genre randomly together, and it work so good. but I agree that it's not good for 1st choice.
Good evening. Of course this is not an appropriate song for the first approach to Babymetal, although it is one of the essential ones later. This concert (legend 1997) is a very special concert. Babymetal began when the girls were 12 and 11 years old (their first music video was made at that age called Doki Doki Morning) as a subgroup of an older idol group, representing the "heavy metal club". They were so successful that when the singer (SuMetal) had to leave the idol group, they decided to continue with Babymetal on their own and this concert the act of sacrifice had two meanings: On the one hand it is the sacrifice of Su as a human being to be reborn as Goddess of Metal (the mythology of this group is worth following) and, on the other, the end as a subgroup to become a group in its own right.
Whoever suggested you watch this one first wanted us crying in laughter, for sure! But good job anyway, that was freaking hilarious! Not the usual way to introduce someone to BABYMETAL but certainly one of the funniest. You already have a ton of info so I prefer not bothering you more and suggest you something more "appropriate"... from the same concert though: "Headbanger" (Live at Legend 1997): ruclips.net/video/QEsOaMbNFww/видео.html And... by the way... just in case... #notacult
Nice Reaction :--) but "Be Warned !" Once You let them Grow on You , You'll Never Gonna Be Able to Get Rid of Them ! ;-) ''BABYMETAL''' (One word !) refers to "the birth of a new kind of Metal, they call it 'Kawaii Metal'' ("Cute Metal" ;-) (The name in fact has nothing to do with the age of the girls, it is often thought of when looking at their previous work ) "Kawaii Metal" is Mix of J-Pop & "Every" kind of Metal !! Because of the Mix they will never bore you !! (That is if your open to Metal Sub-Genres because they have almost every metal genre in their repertoire ;-) (+/- 50 songs) So If you're willing to do More BABYMETAL? Just be prepared & Buckle up !!! Because your in it for A Hell of a Ride ;-)
BABYMETAL 101 Babymetal is a Japanese group founded in 2010 and produced by Key “Koba” Kobayashi from the Amuse Inc. talent agency. Babymetal name comes from the birth of a new style of metal fusing j-pop with metal creating what they call Kawaii Metal (Cute-Metal). The group currently consists of Suzuka Nakamoto aka “Su-Metal” (23 years old) sometimes referred to as Vocal and Dance, and Moa Kikuchi aka "Moametal", pronounced as Moa-Metal (22 years old) sometimes referred to as Scream and Dance. With a third girl filling the third slot, in a 3-member formation. This girls is known as an Avenger her name is Momoko Okazaki (18 years old). They are supported by a rotating selection of talented male backing musicians known as the Kami Band (Kami is usually poorly translated as gods, but in truth it more closely means awe inspiring spirit, entity, or object) It is why they are dressed in white to look like ghosts or spirits, though Kami being used as God(s) is so common in translation the white outfits get lost. Past Formations. Heavy Music Club Era (2010-2012) From 2010 to 2012 Babymetal consist of a three-member formation, Suzuka Nakamoto (Age 12), Moa Kikuchi (Age 10), and Yui Mizuno aka "Yuimetal" pronounced Yui-Metal. (Age 10). First starting out as the Heavy Music Club as a subunit within the Developmental Idol Group created by Amuse in 2010 known as Sakura Gakuin. Sakura Gakuin is a group that introduces girls between the ages of 10-15 to music, dance, modeling, and acting through Japanese Pop idol music and culture. Given a school theme, all three would be a part of Sakura Gakuin until their graduation from it in the same school year they would graduate from Japanese middle school or 15 years old. Suzuka graduated in March 2013, and Moa and Yui in March of 2015. Sakura Gakuin is a fantastic group with great kawaii jpop songs in their own right. During this time there was no lore, and the girl’s costumes were more punkish in nature which they helped create. They also didn’t perform with live music, using a backing track or the “Skeleton band” people pretending to play music behind them. Music Video of this Era Doki Doki Morning Iine (Pronounced EE-NAH spelled i i n e) Headbangya Babymetal/ Metal Resistance Era (2012-2017) Starting in 2012 with the Legend I concert, Babymetal began its slow divorce from Sakura Gakuin, and was the first introduction of the Kami Band as well as the “Lore” that is still heavily involved in Babymetal but makes far less sense than it did during this time. The Lore is complex and involves a battle against other evil idol corporations, gaining powers, some time travel, running a resistance group, all at the direction of a mythical deity known as the fox god, against an all power enemy known as Akiba. The first Legend show I was the Kami Bands introduction to the end, but it also had the Skeleton Band which is seen in the wildly popular Gimmie Chocolate Music Video. This was followed by Legend D, and then Legend Z, in which it was learned that Babymetal would continue as its own entity after Suzuka’s graduation from Sakura Gakuin in March of 2013. Slowly over 2013 the Skeleton Band would be phased out of all live shows, as Babymetal came into their own. Babymetal as it is most commonly known as with Su-Metal, Moametal, Yuimetal, the Kami Band, and a somewhat understandable lore is what consisted for the majority of it’s existence. Also established beyond the 3 member formation, they had 2 other set ups, one was what fans called Su-Solos, and it would just be Su on stage with the Kami band, performing a solo, and the other is known as Black Babymetal by the band themselves, which consisted of just Moa and Yui. Music Videos of this Era Gimmie Chocolate Megitsune Rondo of Nightmare - With mischief of the Gods Intro (Su Solo and a great expedition of the Kami Band) Road of Resistance Live in Japan (Co-written by Dragonforce) Iijime, Dame, Zettai Live at Sonisphere (Name means No More Bullying Forever) Karate The Dark Times, The Chosen 7 Era (2018) In December 2017, Yui would miss the Legend-S concert for health reasons, these health problems would prosiest into 2018 and greatly affect the 2018 touring season bring the “Chosen 7” formation, consisting of Suzuka Nakamoto, Moa Kikuchi, and 2 backing dancers Minako Maruyama, and Minami Tsukui. Changes they would not tell fans and all throughout 2018 communicate extraordinarily little causing lots of pain for all involved fan and performer. This era is noted by their strange armor like costumes, sometimes referred to as Elf Armor. To make the poor communication, and Yui’s absence wasn’t bad enough, one of the more regular Kami band members, Mikio Fujioka passed away after falling off a balcony in late December 2017 while star gazing. A beloved and incredibly talented musician lost leaving behind his wife and only child. In September 2018 Yui would formally resign from Babymetal, stating her unspecified health and wishing to move on. Babymetal themselves announced that the group will move on focusing on Suzuka and Moa. (Something many idiots within the fandom refuse or are too stupid to understand) In October Babymetal had a concert called Dark Night Carnival which added dancers, Shoko Akiyama, Saya Hirai, and Kotono, placing a total of seven girls on stage. This was also done without warning to fans and was an absolute mess. Babymetal would finish off the 2018 tour season returning to the 3-member formation with just Saya Hirai joining them in southeast Asia and Australia. Ending one of the most troubling times in Babymetal’s history. Music Videos of this Era (These MVs do not feature the members in them at all) Distortion Starlight (Don’t let overzealous fans fool you, this is OFFICIALLY not a tribute to anyone. A lot of fan speculation, end of story) Metal Galaxy Era (2019- Feb 2020) The current set up was first introduced in 2019 during the Babymetal Arises concert in Yokohama, before the start, the “Avenger” support dancer concept was explained in the lore, and the concept thanks to communication and a maintaining of the 3-member formation brought Babymetal out of dark times brought about during 2018. Babymetal seemed to have returned to its roots with the Avengers, as 2 of the three (Kano and Momoko) come from Sakura Gakuin. The third Riho, went to the same performing arts school as Suzuka during the same time, Actors School Hiroshima aka ASH. Music Videos of this Era Pa Pa Ya Elevator Girl Shanti Shanti Da Da Dance (Avenger confusion) Which Avenger one sees can be confusing for those new to Babymetal. For the Music Videos, Pa Pa Ya, Elevator Girl, and Shanti Shanti Shanti, it is Kano Fujihara, who was just 14 years old at the time. Da Da Dance is a compilation of Momoko and Riho and a splicing of 2 different shows. In most fan cam videos of the American and European tour it would be either Riho or Momoko, as they toured with Babymetal in 2019. Kano had responsibilities with Sakura Gakuin as its president, a position Suzuka and Moa both held in Sakura Gakuin, and she’s never flown on a plane before. Some fans for 2019 did throw a stupid temper tantrum over the use of new Kami Band members who are from the west now known as the West Coast Kami Band, but like how the girls won over many, so did they and the payoff with the Legend Metal Galaxy concert in 2020 was well worth it. COVID Era (Mar 2020 to April 2021) COIVD-19 has messed up a lot of things for everyone, Babymetal had to cancel their Asian tour, as well their big 10th Anniversary on October 10, 2020. Forced to keep it rather tame something very unlike Babymetal as even in their failures like the entire 2018 tour they do it septically. The question for many fans is what of the Avengers, since COVID, Avenger Riho Sayashi has signed with a new agency and has move on to other projects, including starting a fan club, which appears to rule her out of ever being an Avenger again. Kano Fujihara has graduated from Sakura Gakuin on August 30, 2020, a near 4 month delay. However, she and fellow Sakura Gakuin graduates Soyoka Yoshida, Tsugumi Aritomo, and Momoe Mori in the formation of @onefive. Which leaves Momoko Okazaki as last standing Avenger with no new commitments. However, Kano was technically in Sakura Gakuin, @onefive, and Babymetal all at the same time for almost a year so it is possible she will still be an Avenger. All shows since COVID pandemic they have done in 2020 and in 2021 have had Momoko as the Avenger. Music Videos of this Era BxMxC (First music video that isn’t footage from a show and featuring Su and Moa since Karate in 2015)
Post 10 year Anniversary/ Covid Era Part 2 (May 2021-Current) The band is stepping back from live shows due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and focusing on the sale of Merch. Don't let stupid fans fool you the band is not on hiatus or ending. They are idiots and deserves to be made fun of. Momoko had a very very short stint in a Korean Idol Competition Show called Planet 99. She performed perfectly, better than most of the other girls in the show. She even got the most votes in a small side competition demolitioning all other 98 girls in the show in votes. This won her some hair dye (She is blonde currently). Ultimately be it dumb BM fans thinking the side competition was the actual competition, how the judging was heavily skewed to Korean voters, the fact that her fate was tied to 2 other girls one Korean and one Chinese, and or possibly ridged voting something the company producing the show has done in the past, Momoko was eliminated in the very first round. BM's producer Key Kobayashi also put out a biography in early September, and all proceeds will go to the Babymetal team not for himself. Once again don't let even more idiot fans fool you the band isn't going broke... This fandom is filled with a lot of them sadly.
lol, first Babymetal reaction and you guys gave him Babymetal Death :p Great reaction vid. Not gonna say too much, will let you learn about them as you go, they are an awesome performance, though, worth getting to know and awesome to react, to ... but yeah, their agency, Amuse Inc., is very strict on copyright, so you need to be a bit creative. Opened for Metallica in 2017 and Guns & Roses, Korn, Dragonforce, RHCP, and worked with Rob Halford, Corey Taylor, BMTH on Kingslayer and many others. If you continue with Babymetal there is a ton of lore surrounding their origins and #notacult. This song was the end of the concert where Su becomes a metal goddess. Live concerts are best, try to avoid fan made compilations, Karate, Megitsune, Headbanger, Road of Resistance and IDZ at SonIsphere 2014 in the UK are excellent material for newbies.
Well, that's a strange way to start your BABYMETAL journey :-) Surely one of their heaviest songs with their darkest performance. And definitely #notacult... !
It ain’t crazy, it’s BABYMETAL!! Haven’t you ever seen a 16 year old girl Crucified on her birthday? It’s just same old, same old for BABYMETAL! Absolutely love your reaction, I felt the same way when I first saw them! 🦊🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
Su's 16th birtday, (hence the 1997 reference), up on stage getting crucified with her two friends looking on. Another day at the office. Welcome to Japan!
Nice reaction. You've watched Babymetal so your life is forever changed. You'll never be the same again. I hope you decide to continue your journey through the Babymetal galaxy of music. Life only gets better when your watching Babymetal.
Ahh you are doing babymetal reactions. Welcome to the fox hole 😜 My recommendations for babymetal songs: BxMxC Oh Majinai Road of resistance Headbanger Akatsuki Sis anger Rondo of nightmare Starlight, shine and arkadia (these are known as the trilogy of light)
HAHAHAHA, always fun when someone's first BM experience is this video. We are #notacult But really, keep going, they have some great songs in their catalogue. Fans typically prefer live performances because that is where they really excel, but they do have some good music videos.
Great reaction! The neck brace is an homage to Japanese band, X Japan, whose drummer injured his neck from headbanging too much so he had to wear a neck brace, and the giant statue in the back that falls apart at the end is an homage to Metallica's "...And Justice For All". 🤘🦊🤘
The word "death" is actually an auxiliary verb in Japanese. It's a pun. I recommend the following song. 1.Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL) This song is a collaboration with DRAGON FORCE. 2.Rondo of Nightmare Live @ Budokan Black Night 3. 'Tales of the Destinies' [LIVE PROSHOT/FANCAM].
Whoever suggests that you react BABYMETALDEATH first is doing their job lol so funny. To be honest, this is not the song to start BABYMETAL. I suggest you react to Headlbanger live legend 1997 after this.
'Where is she going tomorrow? Class?' No this was her 16th birthday. Or the day after to be more precise. Required education ends in Japan when they're 15. The two younger girls were still in school. They were 14 1/2 at this show. But this was Dec 21 2013. They are all in their early 20s now. Legend of 1997 refers to lead singer Su who was born in 1997. The concert was for her 16th birthday. 6 months earlier they did Legend of 1999 for the 14th birthdays of the two younger girls. This was a very early concert. This was just a few months before the release of their debut album and the music video 'Gimme Chocolate' that made them famous. That music video uses concert footage from this show it was the first ever performance. But the audio is the studio track.
entering BABYMETAL Universe with BABYMETAL DEATH ? well .... you one brave soul. this is just 16th birthday party for our Queen Su-Metal , just a birthday party. oh !! and we are #notacult , we just happens look like one.
Lmao starting your Babymetal journey with that song is pretty brave but welcome to the foxhole and MetalGalaxy anyways. As other have said this was the show the day after Su’s (the lead singer) 16 birthday, so not quite a child anymore xd. Grington already gave you a lot of info to dig into, so I spare you another wall of text :). Next should or could be “Headbanger” from the same show Legend 1997. Did someone already mentioned #NotACult?
ROAD TO RESISTENCE. GIMME CHOCOLATE. MEGITSUNE. these are the next ones you should see. It'll give you a better idea of the band and music. The kami band (kami means god) are not women, theyre men.theyre dressed as japanese syle ghosts. The three girls are the leads of the band. Su metal is the lead singer and a little older than the other two. Yui and Moa metal are the back up singers and dancers.
Road of Resistance and Headbanger are a must and I was never into metal. Just a massive production beginning to end. I think at first I was very put back at the ages, but became mesmerized by the whole production. I read up on the girls and they are dancers and singers. This video for me takes it a bit too far for how young they are. Seriously, check out one of the other two videos. They are metal, just not quite so dark. (and some unreal guitar).😎
You sure are unlucky! I think this is the first time I see this performance being Copyright blocked! Usually any live performance from this show is really safe to react to! Oh well, glad you found a way to get past without having to butcher the video too much :D And BTW, #NotACult! (don't worry about this, it's a running joke among fans ;) )
lol nice reaction. By the way the girl that gets crucified whose name is Sumetal is 16 the other two Yuimetal and Moametal are 15 or 14 in this video I believe. They are all in their twenties now. Most peoples first introduction to Babymetal is not this song. It is usually songs like Road of Resistance live in japan or Headbanger Live 1997 which is from the same concert you are watching now. Lots more singing in those lol. Also Gimmie Chocolate seems to be the first for many though personally the two songs I mentioned above is what got me hooked on them. I'm new to this band too over the past 5 months and what I have learned is the thing about Babymetal is you never know what your gonna see. They literally are all over the place lol which makes them so much fun IMO. One constant is the music is usually very heavy and very very good. The Kami band that most of the time backs them are incredible. Babymetal is best live. That is where they shine the most. Studio albums are great but they are much better live. Their show is a great production. You should check out more of them in the future. You will see how different they are from song to song. Anyway welcome to the world of Babymetal. Hope you watch more of their videos and enjoy your journey down the Fox hole. The fox hole is a term you will understand if you get into them more. The Babymetal fans will tell you anything you want to know too just ask. There is also guides on you tube about them and how they formed over 10 years ago and up to their current status.
What’s crazier than this? I got it!!! Next up is Bück Dich (bend over) by Rammstein live in Montreal 2012 ☺️. Link to the video: ruclips.net/video/pRXkDYTSAj4/видео.html . I love Babymetal as well! All the respect for the Kami Band Su, Moa and Yui - Metal! 🤘
Babymetal is my favourite band of all time. While not all songs are equally good, they're all head and shoulders above almost all other metal (and, by extension, music). You should watch Megitsune live next, IMO. ruclips.net/video/dU38CYkpBvI/видео.html
Read Grington300 300's post. It give a pretty good top down view and explanation of Who and What Babymetal is. I'll just say that this concert, and specifically this singular performance, was a Major turning point in the history of the group and as confused as you may have been, its still one of the most EPIC live performances you will ever see in the Annals of Metal Music!! Seriously, who else has ever crucified a 16yr old girl on stage before?!? Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!
You know whom you haven't reacted to in a long time? Diana Ankudinova. Everyone's favorite dramatic contralto. She did a cover of Elvis Presley's Can't Help Falling In Love.
@@ReactionsbyD The usual trick with the HTB network is to crop the borders with an overlay and/or put a transparent overlay effect on the video. It's unaltered video that gets it blocked.
Babymetal is a great band to react to They have been at it for over a decade and have 3 albums and a greatest hits Amuse their label does make it hard on reactors Hopefully you can make it work
You guys broke his brain with _Death_ as a first song.

It's been a while seeing "Babymetal Desu" as a reactor's first BM song. Great reaction, almost a "WTF"
@@GenTzu I've seen others and they pretty much always get confused. lol
Broken brains rock⚡️
You have summoned THE ONE!
Yes! That in fact is the lead singer. 😆
And she is one of the best in the business.
#6 of the best female metal singers of all times, according to Guitar Lobby (2021 listing). By far the youngest on this list.
Hahaha, sorry you made me cry laughing. Great first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Galaxy ... what an introduction for you. Oh in case you were worried #NotACult
BABYMETAL are the three girls - Su-metal (lead vocals and dance), Yuimetal and Moametal (scream and dance - basically backing vocals and harmonies but mainly in charge of leading the crowd and getting everybody involved so they all become part of the performance).
There is a translation of the intro video in the description which would have helped a bit (perhaps) with understanding what was happening:
"Legend 1997. (referring to the year of Su's birth)
It is told that receiving the legendary neck brace from the god of Metal,
she shall abandon her human life and be reborn as a goddess.
The bloodline which has been passed down from ancient times
is destined to be the guide, boarding the ark of time.
The apocalypse is prophesied
DOOMSDAY comes
There remains... little time.."
Basically this show was the final step in BABYMETAL transitioning from Idol group sub-unit (it had this narrative running all the way through and even started with a lip-synced dance remix of their song 'Headbanger') to independent metal band - it was also Su-metal's final step in her transition from J-Pop Idol - she was sacrificing her human existence and life as Suzuka Nakamoto, a J-Pop Idol, to be reborn as Su-metal, a Metal Goddess chosen to lead the Metal Resistance.
Death Death Death Death Death Death."
It is a play on words.
#notacult
#Seriouslynotacult
This drummer is insane?
Wait until you see Road of Resistance by them lol
Looking forward to more BM reactions ❤🦊
This was recorded in 2013. At the time, the center girl was turning 16 (this is her 16th birthday celebration). The girls to the left and right were 14.. Normally this song opens the concerts because it's an introduction (they are announcing themselves aside from the death chants, the lyrics are... Sumetal is here, Yuimetal is here, Moametal is here, Babymetal is here). On a few special occasions, they've used it in this fashion, with Su or even all three girls being crucified for show. You'll need to listen to another song. Others have suggested Headbanger from this same concert. That would be good choice.
Makes me wonder why I thought my 16th birthday was cool
Welcome to the foxhole 🦊🤘
You started with one of the heaviest BM song, nice!
You said this is a cult? Nah man, this is just a normal club, like heavy metal club, you know, -NotACult- ;)
If you're a Metallica fan you can spot this riffs at the _One_ song, as well of the -virgen mary- image behind (is not, is SuMetal resembles) they're truly BM sensei and they love the girls too.
Whenever you need to search lyrics and translations search for Du-Metal blogspot, this is the "kamishibai", prologue:
"Legend One-Nine-Nine-Seven.
It is the story that, receiving the legendary corset from the god of the Metal,
she abandons being human and shall be reborn as a goddess.
The gene which has been determined from ancient time
is destined to be guided, boarding on the ark of time.

I bet you never guessed the Queens of Metal are 3 little Japanese School girls dressed as Gothic Cheerleaders. She is being reborn as the Goddess of Metal and her songs put stars in the sky to shine down upon the people, this was her 16th birthday .
⚡ 💀 💕 / 💀 💀 💀
This song was used as their concert opener for quite a few years.
Usually without the crucifixion though. : )
I saw BABYMETAL open for Korn & Stone Sour in Chula Vista, CA back in 2017.
The concert was on Yui's Birthday on June 20th.
There were Korn fans on either side of me, who were expecting something called BABYMETAL to be pretty mellow.
They opened with 'BABYMETAL Death'. : )
It must have been cool to see their minds blown away live at the concert.
Put the seat belt on my friend. You enter the FOXHOLE with this song. My dear grass hopper. you not ready yet. hahaha........
Someone really broke him by suggesting Babymetal Death as the first song 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for doing this reaction, it was a good reaction.
(I won't repeat everything others have already mentioned)
"where's she going tomorrow ? School ? Class ?" Well, this was on a Saturday and while Japan has crazy ideas about how much school kids need... (many are in school on a Saterday !). But on Sunday she has her day off. :-)
And just in case it wasn't clear: #notacult !
Nothing like diving right in 😆.......nice reaction!

But I don't know the Death Metal well.

gimme chocolate is a fun thrash synth pop metal.
You already have a ton of info so I prefer not bothering you more and suggest you something more "appropriate"... from the same concert though: "Headbanger" (Live at Legend 1997): ruclips.net/video/QEsOaMbNFww/видео.html

BABYMETAL 101
Babymetal is a Japanese group founded in 2010 and produced by Key “Koba” Kobayashi from the Amuse Inc. talent agency.
Heavy Music Club Era (2010-2012)
From 2010 to 2012 Babymetal consist of a three-member formation, Suzuka Nakamoto (Age 12), Moa Kikuchi (Age 10), and Yui Mizuno aka "Yuimetal" pronounced Yui-Metal.

Starting in 2012 with the Legend I concert, Babymetal began its slow divorce from Sakura Gakuin, and was the first introduction of the Kami Band as well as the “Lore” that is still heavily involved in Babymetal but makes far less sense than it did during this time.

The Dark Times, The Chosen 7 Era
(2018)
In December 2017, Yui would miss the Legend-S concert for health reasons, these health problems would prosiest into 2018 and greatly affect the 2018 touring season bring the “Chosen 7” formation, consisting of Suzuka Nakamoto, Moa Kikuchi, and 2 backing dancers Minako Maruyama, and Minami Tsukui.
(Something many idiots within the fandom refuse or are too stupid to understand)
In October Babymetal had a concert called Dark Night Carnival which added dancers, Shoko Akiyama, Saya Hirai, and Kotono, placing a total of seven girls on stage. This was also done without warning to fans and was an absolute mess. Babymetal would finish off the 2018 tour season returning to the 3-member formation with just Saya Hirai joining them in southeast Asia and Australia. Ending one of the most troubling times in Babymetal’s history.

Metal Galaxy Era
(2019- Feb 2020)
The current set up was first introduced in 2019 during the Babymetal Arises concert in Yokohama, before the start, the “Avenger” support dancer concept was explained in the lore, and the concept thanks to communication and a maintaining of the 3-member formation brought Babymetal out of dark times brought about during 2018. Babymetal seemed to have returned to its roots with the Avengers, as 2 of the three (Kano and Momoko) come from Sakura Gakuin. The third Riho, went to the same performing arts school as Suzuka during the same time, Actors School Hiroshima aka ASH.
Music Videos of this Era
Pa Pa Ya
Elevator Girl

Da Da Dance
(Avenger confusion)
Which Avenger one sees can be confusing for those new to Babymetal.
COVID Era
(Mar 2020 to April 2021)
COIVD-19 has messed up a lot of things for everyone, Babymetal had to cancel their Asian tour, as well their big 10th Anniversary on October 10, 2020.

Post 10 year Anniversary/ Covid Era Part 2 (May 2021-Current)
The band is stepping back from live shows due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and focusing on the sale of Merch.
This fandom is filled with a lot of them sadly.
lol, first Babymetal reaction and you guys gave him Babymetal Death :p
Great reaction vid.
Not gonna say too much, will let you learn about them as you go, they are an awesome performance, though, worth getting to know and awesome to react, to ... but yeah, their agency, Amuse Inc., is very strict on copyright, so you need to be a bit creative.
Have an awesome Babymetal journey!
well if you all dont mind stupid flying balloons and Copywrite texts - then we will definitely do more BabyMetal!
@@ReactionsbyD Well, take it in stride no problem. We can also guide you a little on how to deal with it. Just ask. It's not our first rodeo.
@@ReactionsbyD Cannot await it. Seriously! When I found out about them four and a half years ago they, immediately, became my absolute favorite band of all time!

#notacult, THE ONE
That is not a poor little girl, that lead singer is a goddess (she literally won a metal goddess award) .. I suggest you to react to Babymetal - 'Road of Resistance' live in japan. It has also a Bad Copyright but it's very worth it, babymetal fan or not can agree with this. Made this reaction happen ..

My favorite music of theirs is 'Karate live in UK 2016.' I'm not into this kind of music genre but I did download Karate in my device.
That is SU-METAL. Prepare to be blown away. She is simply incredible. Welcome to the the foxhole. Enjoy.
Haha welcome to the wonderful world of BABYMETAL!! What a place to start!! Try headbangerrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Legend 1997
What a song for your 1st BabyMetal reaction. 😂 Crucifying your lead singer on her 16th birthday. BabyMetal!!! 🤘🦊🤘 #NotaCult
It's always so awesome to see someone who is a true Babymetal virgin react to their music, and especially one so extreme as Death! Loved it :-)
Welcome to Babymetal. 3 girls are Babymetal, Su-metal 16yrs old at this concert in 2013 celebrating her birthday, lead singer, Yui metal and Moa metal 14 are scream and dance. The musicians are all guys and some of the best in Japan, they are the Kami band or gods of metal dressed is corpse robes and white paint. Recently celebrated 10 yrs of awesomeness with 3 albums multiple world tours, and over 50 songs of every genre of metal.
This just a little story about BABYMETAL

What a way to start! I do hope you continue on with your journey. Also suggest Headbanger from same concert as your next reaction.
LOL great reaction. Welcome to BABYMETAL.
BABYMETAL live is LIFE
BABYMETAL FOREVER
🤘🤘🤘
#notacult... or is it
All hail The Fox god
Nice reaction. You've watched Babymetal so your life is forever changed. You'll never be the same again. I hope you decide to continue your journey through the Babymetal galaxy of music. Life only gets better when your watching Babymetal.
Ahh you are doing babymetal reactions. Welcome to the fox hole 😜
My recommendations for babymetal songs:
BxMxC
Oh Majinai
Road of resistance
Headbanger
Akatsuki
Sis anger
Rondo of nightmare
Starlight, shine and arkadia (these are known as the trilogy of light)
HAHAHAHA, always fun when someone's first BM experience is this video.
We are #notacult
But really, keep going, they have some great songs in their catalogue.
ah good info! thanks!
8:23, "Am I part of a cult now?" 🤣🤣
If BM were a cult, he's definitely going to succumb to the Fox God, Queen Su-metal, and Princess Moametal soon. #seriouslynotacult
🤣🤣🤣 #notacult
Who's the criminal who suggested this? 🤣🤣
The word "death" is actually an auxiliary verb in Japanese. It's a pun.
I recommend the following song.
1.Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL) This song is a collaboration with DRAGON FORCE.
2.Rondo of Nightmare Live @ Budokan Black Night
What is this, you say? It's just a birthday celebration, nothing more, nothing less.
Also the 21st was a Saturday, so next day was a Sunday. Even in Japan where lots of kids have school on Saturday they get the day off on Sunday :-)
@@autohmae that too. I figured a big concert like this would either be a Saturday or Friday.
@@Dragon-Believer I'm glad she had a day off, she deserved one after such an eventful evening. 😃
I can't believe you started with Death. 😂That's a helluva first Babymetal experience, lmao.
lol no idea, I started with what link someone sent me lol, at the time had no idea who they were.
You should check out "BABYMETAL- Ijime,Dame,Zettai-Live at Sonisphere 2014,UK"
She is not being sacrificed. She collapsed on the stage ("died") and THEN she was put on the cross. She is being resurrected, reborn.

#notacult
Lots of misconceptions about BabyMetal, but this is your first time. You'll get educated.
Lets goo 🦊🦊🦊
As soon as the cross came out, I was like, metal!
This is a brave one to start with
Lmao starting your Babymetal journey with that song is pretty brave but welcome to the foxhole and MetalGalaxy anyways.
"what am i watching" the best band on the planet my dude. cheers
Just some teenagers raising a little hell at a Birthday party....forgetaboutit
Listen "Headbanger!!"
Man...you are in for a ride
"Headbanger Legend 1997"...if you want to continue your Babymetal journey
It's time to react "BABYMETAL // HEADBANGER!! 「ヘドバンギャー!!」" 🤘
Fantastic
Road of Resistance and Headbanger are a must and I was never into metal. Just a massive production beginning to end. I think at first I was very put back at the ages, but became mesmerized by the whole production. I read up on the girls and they are dancers and singers. This video for me takes it a bit too far for how young they are. Seriously, check out one of the other two videos. They are metal, just not quite so dark. (and some unreal guitar).😎
Mary: I went to Legoland.
April: We went to Disneyland
Su-Metal: my friends crucified me on stage and I was reborn a metal goddess.
We aren't a cult.
You sure are unlucky! I think this is the first time I see this performance being Copyright blocked!
Usually any live performance from this show is really safe to react to!
Oh well, glad you found a way to get past without having to butcher the video too much :D
And BTW, #NotACult!
Welcome to the foxhole. Try the song Headbanger from the same concert Legend of 1997 (year lead singer was born).
#NotACult! Don't say we are a cult or we have to sacrifice you to the fox god by throwing you into the frog pit! :p
Solid reaction. BABYMETAL is the GOAT!
That was fun, wasn't it???
Po!
And doing it four more times, including her 20th birthday.
please react to _megitsune_ by babymetal. ^ _ ^
it's the closest thing babymetal has to a signature song.
If any band wanna do some warm up...this is the good choice for it..
This is definitely #notacult as you can see from this intense session of dancing, screaming and crucification. Yep totally normal.
