I cannot put into words how appreciative I am of your support for this series. I promise that more is on the way! Oh, and did I mention they'd be filthy? I'm also grateful to be quiet! for sponsoring two of our #PCDC videos this season. I don't charge viewers for these cleanings and their support takes the stress out of the process - which is very time-consuming. Cheers!
Opening up a PSU is as easy as taking off a few screw on the side PSU. Take the lid off and do not touch any of the electrical components and cables. Good luck!
@@tweakz_tech That Evga PSU is probably still under warranty, so it was the right choice to replace it. Some brands are placing the tamper stickers on the screws not on the separating edges of the PSU.

I’m in SFL and have started doing this very thing for friends and family... good to see someone close by doing an even better job as it inspires me to up my detailing level.
If there's one thing in particular I appreciate from your PCDC episodes, it's not even the deep cleaning itself (although I thorougly enjoy that as well obviously), it's your awesome choice in music. Please bring it back in season 2! 🎶💜
Just what I thouhgt, this one deserved a new case more than others, is the typical oem super closed system that obviously, like me in the past, changed the gc (and then the psu because of the lack of power on oem psu) to have more power at gaming. HP of course... mine was acer but my mom had like 5 or 6 systems from HP and they are pretty much like this. New case, air cooler and maybe a similar psu would have been a lot better. And I mean, come on its a really old case XD it even has the ATI logo on it
I don't really care if it's repetitive anymore, I want more of these videos, this is therapy for me too. I'm very very very okay if the same thing happens over and over with the same outcome as long as it's like this lol this is the best channel I've found last year!
11:32 There are 2 mistakes in this built: 1) SSD connected to slow SATA 3gb/s port, instead of 6gb/s port; 2) RAM is not full dual channel. There are 24GB RAM = 2x8gb in A channel slots + 2x4gb memory sticks in B channel slots. Should be 1x8gb and 1x4gb in A channel slots, 1x8gb and 1x4gb in B channel slots
Same, I just hold the fan blades so they don't spin too fast. I also just pull the battery out of the motherboard and use an old tooth brush and light drizzle of water. Then bake at 200* for 10 minutes or so, you can skip the baking and air dry that sh't over night, or grab the leaf blower again.
I recently came across this series that you do and it's truely inspiring. You can tell that a lot of these builds have been loved for a long time but cleaning PCs can be scary for some people. You're truely saving these people a lot of money and giving their PCs a new life while educating people online about how to clean your PC SAFELY! This is the kind of content I've been looking for for ages so thank you for starting this series and keeping with it
Mad respect for using hand screw drivers. Working on computers I always use a good small regular screw driver. A lot of people use battery operated screwdrivers that just get in the way, strip small screws and over tighten everything.
Thank you for always helping people out and cleaning their systems. I'm sure it brings new life to older hardware, especially in the tough times we're all facing. Keep it up my dude.
At some point in my life, I really want to learn the skill of cleaning and disassembling/assembling tech components because this is just so satisfying to do in my life
Technically you just have to keep it in a good environment. Keep it off the floor, make sure there is good airflow in the room and make sure the pc has a lot of room to breathe.
Seems to clear my mind when I watch pc cleaning videos and I’m very glad you made a series about them. Also, I am in support of a before and after shot of the temperatures, if possible. Excited for more in the future!
When I take power supplies apart, before removing them from their cases, I push on the power button multiple times to drain all the capacitors, including those on the other hardware. Food for thought.
This was my favorite episode I think, I like when you don't recase 'em and I think the upgrades to this PC were pretty smart and fit the case well. Season 2 idea maybe deep clean a few laptops? Obviously upgrade paths on them are pretty small (sdd or ram typically) but the benefits from a good deep clean will be far more noticeable in the temperatures.
Anyone else notice at the end during the boot select screen, that the Hitachi HDD was plugged into a Sata 6Gb port while the Samsung SSD was plugged into a Sata 3Gb port?
This is a very nice thing you are doing for everyone. I personally want to say thank you for doing this. I am looking forward to season 2 and beyond. Keep up the great work you are doing.

Yea, when he said that it rubbed a nerve, throwing out a PSU because its internals got too dirty to remove with just air is ridiculous, at the very least he could've said just take it someone who knows what they are doing to get it cleaned.
Greg, I understand the question of not messing with the system, but you could at least optimize the order of the SATA cables. You left the SSD on a SATA3 port and an HD on a SATA6 port. Congratulations on your work and a big hello from Brazil.
When cleaning computers, denim works really well to clean and polish aluminum, steel and other metallic surfaces (like the brushed metal surfaces in this case and on brackets of expansion cards which might be slightly oxidized).
All of a sudden I have an urge to clean my case. But I already did it yesterday! Nothing more satisfying than seeing temps drop even 10°C (on GPU) and TBH it wasn't even that dusty!
I started to watch the series today and i already finished season 1! Loved every single episode so far so i'll start watching season 2 now, lol. Great work
Wow. Great job. That's a pretty dirty HP. But I liked that the owner upgraded his components. Looks pretty good all spived out. What's bad about huge layers of dust is it inhibits cooling. Depending on the content of the dust it can create static or electronic bridges to shorting out.
Amps are nothing without voltage. Just take a car battery, for instance. Hundreds of amps at the ready, no voltage to deliver to a person. Just like a PC psu. Worst case you catch a bite from 110. It tingles. Life goes on.

I said it more than once and keep saying it.... A whole room air cleaner is your best friend in cases like this. especially if you have carpet or can't dust as much as you should. And this go's for anything electronic that has fans in it, not just for a PC.
One thing I do with tue cpu fan is unplug it before passing air into it. As it will generate electricity pushing air through the fan and it could push higher voltage popping something on you board...if you spin that fan on a dead board...you will see it will flow power back into the board.
I just cleaned my pc yesterday. The most satisfying part is leaving it so dustful like that and blowing it so much that the dust looks like you are in the desert lmao
Gosh, this is the most pleasing video to watch...! Excellent job! I love the attention in detail you have! I honestly appreciate your work! This is something I help my friends to do from times to times as well. :)
The fact that someone can own anything that nasty is crazy. If someone gave it to me I would throw it in the trash where it belongs. The owner of this PC better be thankful because that's a lot of work you put into it.
Power supplies can be deep-cleaned very safely. There is no need to dispose them. Once unplugged, all capacitors will self-discharge within minutes and they don’t hold more than 155 volt anyway. For maximum safety, unplug overnight.
Lol finally one that looks like the mess I had to clean out of my boyfriend’s old PC that he gave me after I built his new one. Was waiting for you to get to one that was this bad so you could experience my struggle, especially for someone who’d never owned a PC previously and had just built one for the first time and now had to untangle and clean a monstrosity.
Temp diff can be huge 10 degrees or more. However most of the system you clean aren't that dirty and don't have dust build up in the critical areas that will affect temps. Failing fans and dried out contact cement will matter more. I wouldn't pull the system apart to clean unless I saw a temp issue, I just do a simple routine clean once a year, my machines don't get that dirty. However I would always run a full suite of tests before and after, a post tells you so little.
I used to support tech at a drywall manufacturing facility, and the main ingredient of drywall is, well, dust. This machine would look fairly clean in that environment.
