I'm 60 and black, first time I watched this show. Thanks to the great actors and great writers and poster of this video. I just missed this era of TV. 😊
OH WOW thank you so much for putting these on you tube.. these folks were actors and actresses WAAAAY beyond their time. LOVE THIS SHOW..... i first loved listening to the radio shows and now i can enjoy the T.V. series 🤝 thank you 👍🏽👍🏽
You're right these actors and actresses what frantastic and you know none of them receive Oscars but the writers directors received Stars in Hollywood Walk of Fame it would have been nice if they was recognize for there Talent
man on man ... I used to set in front of the old Emerson radio with my grandpa and listen to this .. along with all the other radio shows .. like "Inner Sanctum" with the squeaking door ...
@Robert Gardea The radio version was a different cast and writers than the TV version. Their voices were very similar , but with the exception of 'Sapphire', the radio version was all played by whites.
Thank you for posting this! I just came across it by accident and I want you to know as a very very young child I loved this show! Years ago I even went to the New York Museum of Broadcasting to watch episodes there. I don't think it's a racist show just a very funny sitcom! I'm a subscriber to your channel now.
I was stunned to see your comment 1 year after I posted this episode ..but..better late than never! However, I do not know how old you are but ABSOLUTELY NO..THEY ARE NOT IN BLACKFACE..THEY ARE BLACK ACTORS AND ACTRESSES WHO,MOSTLY, STARTED OUT ON THE ORIGINAL RADIO VERSION !
The only reason why I bring that up is I'm from Harlem and it would have been a pleasure to see it in that light it's almost like a dream Chocolate City
You've got to love this cast. I always get a good laugh out of this show. The NAACP took the ax to this show because of complaints from the blacks. It was cut off too short...these actors should have their stars on the walks of Hollywood Blvd with the greats!
No matter what the NAACP tried to claim about Amos N Andy the fact of the matter is that it was a groundbreaking show, the first tv series with an all black cast. Some years ago I saw a documentary about the show that featured an interview with none other than Jesse Jackson who talked about what a big step forward it was for black actors. Too bad the NAACP was too pig-headed to realize that.
“The Society Party” Episode 8, Season 3, aired 1953. Alvin Childress as Amos, Spencer Williams (Jr.) as Andy, Tim Moore as Kingfish, Ernestine Wade as Sapphire, Amanda Randolph as Mama, Johnny Lee as Calhoun, Rosalind Hayes (as Roz Hayes) as Rosemary, Edith Whiteman as Mrs. Van Pelt, Jacqueline Levy as the Saleswoman, James Payne as the Psychiatrist, and Amos Reese as Sam.
I'm here watching this show for the first time. All I'd ever heard was that it's very racist. If anyone can explain how, I'd like to know. I'd braced myself for curly wigs, big lips and "Oh yass sir, yass sir, right away sir!" It's a standard sitcom!
Rory Scott I was just telling someone how back in those days there were more black people sticking together. We also had people fighting an dying for us. Now what do we have?
Oh my!. Did not know about the captions. I didn't add them. A reminder that You tube is not yet finished. Still under construction. They are getting there, but, oh my, those captions. Kind of funny and sad at the same time. Thanks for the tip. Best wishes.
This 71 yr old Latino Loves Amos & Andy..may God Bless there souls in Heaven...& luv my main main Andy ..ladies man..cant B beat ❤

Just watched this twice and it cracked me up again. I love these reruns.
These characters are the greatest!
As a kid me and my father enjoyed all these episodes. What great actors for the times back then.
They’re iconic now.
You're right these actors and actresses what frantastic and you know none of them receive Oscars but the writers directors received Stars in Hollywood Walk of Fame it would have been nice if they was recognize for there Talent
$50 dollar that's a lot of money! Great show--great acting and humor!
$500.00 as of September 2, 2022

Sorry dude, those were actors in blackface, NO COMPARISON.
@@kenbritton6782 Yes. They were trained in Minstrel in Vaudeville.
I sure enjoy this show. The characters are just great. The fellow who played Amos sure was very handsome. Nice personality, too.
A good drinking game would be to watch an episode of this show, and take a drink every time Kingfish starts a sentence with "Ohhh..."
This was a really good show, funny....good acting....
"Ohhh Andy! That's a long -legged mink!!"
so funny,, LOL will see if i can get them on amazon,, i alright have the Sandford and Son ,, love them all.... now these,,,, :)

Anyone else notice that back then, TV shows lasted 26 minutes out of a half hour? Today's 'half hour' shows last 20 minutes.
It’s enjoyable watching more of a show and less commercials. Have canceled cable TV 3 years ago.
Believe it or not, Calhoun is my favorite character on this show.
Calhoun...and Lightenin' . Great!
I Can't Believe That Some Fool Flagged It I Don't Know One Black Person Who Doesn't Like It
Best Show Ever
If Sapphire hears that she'll get her mama after you!
The only reason why I bring that up is I'm from Harlem and it would have been a pleasure to see it in that light it's almost like a dream Chocolate City
One of the all time funniest shows ever!!!
Lol andy kept his fist ball up even while sitting
It's A Shame That The NAACP Got This Show Taken Off The Air The Whole Cast Really Had Talent.
You've got to love this cast. I always get a good laugh out of this show. The NAACP took the ax to this show because of complaints from the blacks. It was cut off too short...these actors should have their stars on the walks of Hollywood Blvd with the greats!
The salvos from the NAACP were first fired by a young Korean War veteran named Bill Cosby.
WOW!So Bill Cosby was wrong about something else TOO!
@Robert Gardea Maybe..if they did regret the mistake, they seemed to remain cowardly in the shadows and didn't admit to the damage they caused.

All were very talented. I loved watching as a kid in the 50s. Stupid NAACP stole money from these actors by forcing cancellation.
Aww, poor little white man can't see black people being jive-shuking like he used to.
Get over yourself and your need for this show, buttercup.

You are speaking facts for sure!
I Have A Little Theory:We Were More Happy BEFORE Intergration than After,Be cause back then,We Stuck Together AT LEAST A Tiny Bit.
Why didn’t Andy just say I’m gonna take the coat to be professionally cleaned??
Listened on radio as a young child.
Andy looks like Cedric The Entertainer. Kingfish looks so familiar
The one thing I noticed was that they lived in New York in Harlem all black owned businesses but all the women where light skin go figure
Check the captions, somebody had jokes, it seems.
Oh my!. Did not know about the captions. I didn't add them.

Kind of funny and sad at the same time.

Hey Miss Brown you looking good
Salmonize our watches 🤦😂😂😂
The captions need to go. They insult the talent of this extraordinary cast.
Anyone making racist comments should just STFU and watch or not watch.
I'm sorry, Marc, but a sitcom could've been done about black people _without_ having to use or create a show about Amos & Andy.
