  • Hello everyone and welcome back! I fancied a spirited drive today in my 2012 Mercedes W204 C63 AMG and I thought, why not take you along with me for a POV drive. It is no secret I have fascination about fuel economy, and how cars perform when driven under certain circumstances. So I thought why not see how the C63 performs when it’s put through it’s paces. We have already established the naturally aspirated M156 6.2 V8, can be fairly frugal when driven carefully as seen in my last video. But how does it fair when driven under heavy load? Well I’ll put that to the test, and by the end of the video we’ll see how it fares in terms of fuel economy!

    Unbelievable car. Can go through little villages like a normal car. Purring like a cat. But as soon as you press the pedal, it turns to a lion! Awesome. Thank you for this. About the fuel consumption. I don't care 😊 i still want one, and i will get one. Mark my word 😊😊😊😊😊

      That’s one of the best things about it, it can simply be a normal quiet C class when driven in Controlled efficiency mode sensibly! But just a slight tickle of the accelerator, and you have a completely different character of a car. Thank you so much for watching, you’re going to absolutely love it!

      Good on you and I hope you get one. I was just like you and said I will get one. A year later. I picked up my 2013 w204 C63 saloon. Had it a month now and absolutely love it!!

    Awesome video! I’m a huge fan of the AMG V8 engines. The pops, bangs, crackles and gurgling all add up to a symphony of music to my ears.

    Nice overtake on the cyclist at the start, you gave him plenty of space! When I'm out for a roof down V8 blast and weekend MAMILs are biking, I make great play of holding back until I can pass safely, then I rocket past, wide and safe, so the cyclist can enjoy the bellowing V8 symphony too...

    Great video man, enjoyed the watch! 👍 That exhaust note at 4:43 cooor it sounds so good!! Also over 15mpg from that drive, I really don't think that's bad at all for that sound, performance and just the package. Bloody lovely :)

      Thank you for watching! It is an intoxicating soundtrack! I accidentally short shifted so I probably had another 1K RPM to play with 😄 It’s not too bad considering how I drove it that day! It’s the start stop traffic/city driving which really gets bad efficiency for this car, but I think that’s a given with most cars :)

    Test drove this car 6 years ago and didn’t proceed as I knew the cost of rear tyres and fuel would bankrupt me. Lovely car though and had proper character - and very tail happy.
    Settled for a jag XE supercharged v6 instead which is lovely :-)

    • @NathanMannin
      @NathanMannin  3 месяца назад +1

      Test drove a C63 or this very exact car? It daunting when you see people speak of these cars for being crazy inefficient or shred through tyres. But in my personal experience it hasn’t been the case, I’ve done a lot of mileage in my tyres, granted I’m not the most flamboyant driver. In terms of fuel economy it hasn’t been too bad, averaging 20mpg over 16,000 miles, not brilliant but not as bad as I expected. Still expensive to run with the £700 road tax though! Thank you for admiring it!
      I do love the styling of the XE, or all modern Jag saloons! I’ve heard a supercharged V6 in an F type and sound glorious, so I imagine that’s a killer combination. What do you return fuel economy wise? 😃

    • @AlanTPT
      @AlanTPT 3 месяца назад +1

      @@NathanMannin absolutely. I love this model - and no it wasn’t this exact car. I recall both me and the Mercedes dealer taking turns to drive it during the test run as it was so much fun. 30 mins with burning smell from the rubber and 13mpg later I was convinced me behind the wheel would aim for less than 10mpg regularly as the car wants you to drive faster 😂
      20mpg is pretty good for the average. During my research I saw a few forums quoting over 30mpg on motorway runs.
      The jag is brilliant. Does 20-25 in town and closer to 40mpg on the motorway :-). Doesn’t have the raw power as the c63, but it suits my lifestyle for now….

    • @NathanMannin
      @NathanMannin  3 месяца назад +1

      @@AlanTPT Blimey! You must’ve given the car hell to get the MPG down the low 😆 I drive mine hard from time to time, but never get it that low 🤣
      30mpg+ is achievable on long runs driving consistently and carefully. In this run, the best I got was 32.2mpg
      However, a more careful run at 60 could get you over 33mpg I reckon!
      That is a very respectable figure considering it’s still a supercharged V6!
