- Happy 81st birthday to Phil Lesh! For the last several years we've been gathering at The Capitol Theatre or Terrapin Crossroads to celebrate Phil's birthday with various star studded Phil & Friends or Terrapin Family Band lineups. We can't wait to all be back doing it in person, but for now a kaleidoscopic collaboration of Phil's friends have honored him with a quarantined version of his masterpiece, "Unbroken Chain".
The performance features The Terrapin Family Band (Grahame Lesh, Ross James, Alex Koford, Jason Crosby, Nathan Graham, & Elliott Peck) along with Mike Gordon, Joe Russo, Warren Haynes, John Scofield, Jeff Chimenti, Adam MacDougall, Stanley Jordan , Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams, Amy Helm, Nicki Bluhm, Karl Denson, Holly Bowling, Eric Krasno, Anders Osborne, Jackie Greene, Tom Hamilton, Luther Dickinson, Jon Graboff's what's happening page, Scott Law Music, & Dan "Lebo" Lebowitz.

Happy belated birthday, Phil!. I have to say if I could pick one song to sum up everything I love about the dead, I would pick this song live fron the Mars Hotel! A masterful composition. Nice job to everyone on this cover! The jam that starts with Warren after the last verse was sweetly sublime.

The thing that struck me right away was the mix. It is beautifully mixed and shows off the talents of all of these fine musicians. All these people were brought together by Phil. Luckily, I've seen most of these iterations of Phil's bands. He is an immense talent and I thank him for all of the great music that he has brought our way. Thank you Phil- and Happy Birthday!

Beautiful, I still remember when MARS HOTEL came hot off the press. I wrote a letter to Grateful Dead Records congratulating them on their beautiful new music. The kidz at the store mailed me a bucket of sampler '45s and a bunch of other cool stuff in thanks.....still got 'em!....Always Grateful. What a magical time it is! Happy Birthday PHIL! This Family Band with friends is just the ticket! SERIOUS chops and patience to the Great Editor. What a gig that must have been! "Servant, well done!" :)

Sooooo nice to hear pedal steel closest I ever got to play along side of one was a close friend was very talented playing telecaster without Parsons White string bender and it was wonderful to hear the tones he coaxed out of it. I really enjoyed what I've heard. Unbroken chain is my favorite dead tune.you people really did a nice job
