I bought this when it came out, interestingly I did not own the first album at the time and thought No Rain was catchy at best. That said Soup blew me away. I still to this day think it's an incredible project and the songwriting feels more developed and adventurous. It's a shame that this album didn't catch on better than it did. Band and album are under appreciated. It's a pleasure to hear your thoughts on the album.
We are of the same mind! It's such a brilliant album and gives something extra every time I play it. Have you seen the doco, 'All I Can Say'? It's on RUclips at the moment if you haven't. Really appreciate your kind words. Thanks! 🙏
I’ve been digging this one, brilliant moments and heaviest lyrics. It led me to the first album and I’m drawn more to that one at the moment. The Duke blows me away 🎉
Their next album Nico was good too, it might have outtakes and unused songs. Also they have a video for their cover of "Out on the Tiles" from Led Zeppelin III. Very interesting song to cover and they do a great job of cleaning it up and tightening it up. A cover of an overlooked song on an overlooked album that I happen to have always loved one of the first songs I learned on guitar so I might be biased.
This is a lost 90s classic by a band that unfortunately at this stage of their career were seen as one hit wonders for their mega hit no rain a few years earlier and that's not who this band was in fact they were more like a 90s alternative rock of the Allman Brothers band and Lynyrd Skynyrd and that's how they should be remembered as

So cool! Glad you've gotten into them. The Duke is a masterpiece! 😋

Agreed about Nico, some great outtakes, used to have it on CD. Must listen again. Thanks for the lowdown on the Zep connection! Cheers! 🙏

Thanks so much for this contribution. I love the comparison with The Allman Brothers - interesting! Cheers! 🙏
