The video almost made me cry, because there is nothing like being yourself and eventually you will find the group of bees you fit into. Never stop bee-ing yourself!
Almost cry? I think I cry every time I watch it. I think we all were the Bee girl at one time or another, and then we find our place in the world, and then when you get older, we become the bee girl again. Hello in There
This song will always hold a special place in my heart. This was the ringtone on my daughter's phone. It was her theme song as she battled cancer from the age of 14. She passed at 20 and this song seems to play at very special times. A few years after her passing I was helping her favorite pediatric nurse to buy a car. At the moment we closed the deal and shook hands with the salesman, that opening riff played on the dealership's sound system. I just looked at the nurse and said "Jen approves"

I just came back here for the millionth time after listening to send me on my way for the millionth time. I hear these two songs and think of my favorite band Pearl Jam and will honestly say 90s rock>60s rock. I love my classic rock too and Pink Floyd created arguably some of the best music ever, along with zeppelin and the doors and the animals and more, but I still say the 90s music was better and some of it apparently timeless as well. Who knew at the time this little catchy song no rain or send me on my way was actually everlasting?
I hope your ok. I know exactly how you feel. One of my best friends offed himself 3 years ago and ive had the hardest time. But your loved and so is your friend. Its tough but stay gold and hydrate okay! 😁 we're all in this together!
The point at 2:11 when she arrives at the gate and finds all those people just like her...brings me to tears every time I watch it. I wish everyone could have moment like that, where they find where they belong.
About six years ago a new girl walked into our office and we have a radio that’s always on, and while showing her around, this song came on, and I have a bad habit of just freezing on the spot when I hear a song I love… and then we both started to sing along to it, every word… And Im like, have you seen the Woodstock 94 version? and she’s like of course I have. I was so impressed with this new person…over time when we discussed our past it seemed like we had gone to all the same concerts and festivals in the 90s… she’s like, I was in the front row of the pumpkins in 98 and I’m like, so was I man! We now live together and we spend way too much time on the lounge watching grunge music videos on RUclips on tv but it all started with this song six years ago
@@RainbowFlowerCrow aww thanks… I never would normally write soppy stuff online, but I feel I owe this song a fair bit, and think it’s awesome that music helps people find their people
That little girl grew into quite a beautiful young woman. Some women are beautiful in a way that makes your jaw drop, but others have the kind of beauty that makes you smile and feel good about yourself and the world. I don't know, I'm pretty sleep-deprived right now.
This song was with me in my darkest moments of depression in the last 2 years. But I went out of it and life is so much better now. I could get out, and you can too. God bless you all.
The bee girl doesn’t know how lucky she is... she found a whole group of bee people in just one day. Some people live their whole life on the outside...
We were so incredibly spoiled with such great tunes in the 90's that we only now realise how lucky those of us who grew up on it truly were. Big smile to my fellow Gen X'r. We partied properly without trying to impress social media
I'm a purple alien from the planet Irata, rotating around a sun near the black hole your people call Cygnus X-1. I mostly listen to rhythmic chanting of binary data, but I love this song.
It is sad that the album was overshadowed or overlooked because this song was so great that most people see Blind Melon as a "one hit wonder." The entire album is amazing and even the follow up album "Soup" is just as good, but got terrible reviews for whatever reason.
That's because you missed the 60's and 70's. You think you know "cool" but some of us know you're wrong. But yeah, those years were packed with fun and adventure for me too. I got to Miami when I was 21 in 1979 and well, it got crazy.
That moment in the video just makes me so happy. I hope one day everyone finds there group of bee people. I haven't found mine yet but I'm still trying to remain positive.
Underrated? They weren't underrated when this came out, this was on full rotation even here in Europe. They were up and coming and pretty massive at that point. Overdosing then did it's thing...anything after this vocalist just was smack dab in the middle but not exceptional, unfortunately.
My dad used to listen to this and I couldn't find the band name for life of me for years! Now here it is! BLIND MELON! F ck I miss you so much dad, R.I.S.P.
This song was stuck in my head for 2 years, and I couldn't find it. I remember my older siblings always listening to it when I was just a a few years old. I couldn't remember any of the lyrics, so google search offered no help. Then randomly I find this today, and a flood of nostalgic tears have covered my keyboard.
When I was a kid and didn’t understand music videos didn’t need to have a story/point/make sense, this one always made perfect sense and hit home. She found her people, and I felt that. Video is just as great as the song.
Me and my father used to listen to this song all the time.. he passed away last year and tears come to my eye as I listen to this for the first time in years. I’d like to imagine he’s singing along with me In Heaven right now… I miss you dad.
I'm so sorry for your loss. My dad passed away almost 15 years ago. He gave to me the love of music. He was very self isolated, so that was about all he could give. I didn't get many hugs or I love yous from him, but the love of music was his greatest gift to me, and I never got to tell him that.
Who has not been that beautiful bee girl once, twice, forever in their lives? Everytime I listen to this song I feel like crying, and when I watch the intro... that's when I cry.
I saw Blind Melon opening for Lenny Kravitz in Paris in 1993...and Shannon Hoon's energy was so atomic that he blew Lenny right off the stage. The Blind Melon set rocked the house so hard, then Lenny came out all cool and jazzy and he was already outshined by his opening act. I remember thinking at the time that there's no way anyone can blast that hard and that Shannon wouldn't live very long.
I'm 44 now and was about 16 when this came out. Found out I have aspurgers last year, but still haven't found my fellow friends... In so much pain. People misread me so much and lost so many friends over the years, dunt have any left. Thank God for my hubby of 20+yrs who does understand me.
You will find your people my love 💚 Aspergers/ autism can be so hard for people to live with always being misunderstood. My sister is autistic and she found school hard etc. I hear you and hope you’re doing okay xx
I drove cross country in 1992, and this was on all stations. It's such a great driving/singing out loud song through the boring states. God, Shannon is so missed.
Can’t stop coming back to this song. I love it, then forget it, then remember it and return, forget it and wander away to then remember and return. Maybe there’s a universal pattern hidden there.❤❤❤❤
I remember in 1993 when you could turn on MTV at any time day or night, and Aerosmith’s Cryin’, Everybody Hurts, Hey Jealousy, Heart Shaped Box, Plush, Mary Jane’s Last Dance (my personal fav. Of the ones here), or this video would be playing. Constantly. Wow. I don’t even watch tv anymore, let alone MTV...
Omg. Soul Asylum Runaway Train. Porno for pyros Pets. Spin doctors Two princes. Beastie Boys Sabatoge. U2 Numb was a popular vid on MTV. YES!!!! I miss that time in MTV. I agree👍🏻
Anybody else get choked up when the bee girl opens the gate and finds her kindred bee friends? She looks so excited and happy. Wish videos were still cool and touching like this.
I always thought the message in the dancing bee child was them not being accepted by society, then eventually finding the right people to be around and being accepted.. Point is don’t stop searching for your happy place, it’s hard but don’t stop you’ll find it, eventually🤘
I was in a room of 250 people watching this video..When she found her hive at the end , the whole room erupted...! Changed my life that day..I will never be alone again...Thank you BM..💚
When I heard this song for the first time, 7 years ago, it made me realize that I was actually making my way out of depression, that I was starting to feel better. To this day, I haven't found any other song that can get to me like this one can, and I can't really explain why. If you're stuggling right now, don't worry, it gets better!
My dad passed away unexpectedly from simple pneumonia a couple weeks ago, I was randomly jamming to my rock playlist while I played Forza horizon 5 and suddenly this song came on and it damn near through me into a temporary catatonic state as I just remembered so many memories I never knew I had of me chilling as a kid in the back seat of my dads old GMC pickup as this song would come on the radio on Q107 so often, so many different memories of the car and this song and him. Amazing times I never knew I wanted to remember until I found this song again, thank you Blind Melon for the nostalgia; I keep it close to my heart
So sorry for your loss homie, I truly am. My Dad is my best friend, and he is getting up there in age these days so I try to cherish the time we have left I too grew up in the 80’s/90s and this song just has an amazing connection to that time. And funny enough, I would hear it on Q107 as well! I grew up in Niagara Falls area. Wish you all the best, I know it’s gonna be tough for a while. But hopefully you have other people and family that you can share memories of your Father with
@@Day-ZDuke Hey man love your message, thank you. My dad was my Best Friend too, he taught me what it's like to be a man, and how to be a man people can rely on. Cherish those memories with him cuz lemme tell you, one day the potential to create more will be gone a lot more suddenly than you could ever expect. I kept telling myself "ehhhh, I'll find moments to make up for it" then one day he got pneumonia being a heavy smoker his whole life and bam, within 3 days he was gone. whatever small moments you can procure, do so, cuz in the end it's only for your own benefit and trust me without doing so might just hurt you enough to do something stupid.
I'm old. This is my daughter's music. Still, I play this often...with a smile on my face and tears running down my cheeks. Good music knows no generational gap.
