    This is my “Master Class” for OBS Studio. I’ve spent basically all of 2017 researching, scripting, revising, shooting, and producing this course, and I’m quite proud of what it’s become. This should be a fantastic all-in-one reference guide with the software, with just minimal updates required for new features.
    This course will primarily focus on the Windows version of OBS Studio. I have some minor points that reference differences with macOS and Linux setup, but I cannot currently go in-depth with those versions at this time.
    Also, this video is available in a full 4K UHD 60 frames per second format. This will give you not only the best visual quality, but the best clarity for viewing text and settings menus.

    Bless this video so much. I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong and it was because my dumb butt didn't understand I needed a master mix for the stream and separate channels for the other audio for editing purposes later. I've learned a lot from these videos Epos, thanks for putting so much effort into them.

    Great channel. Still figuring things out. I'm trying to get set up for music recording tutorials and streaming live concerts. I'm on a Mac. Been recording to mp4. Got things set up like you show (I think) but don't see how the mic would record to a 3rd track. Trying to get a stereo music track and the mic on a seperate track to balance later in FCP X.
    So far it all comes out as one stereo track with mic and music together.
    Thanks.

    Thank you so much for this tutorial! One question that I couldn't find the answer for: if I'm streaming using headphones plugged into the XB1 controller for output (mic's plugged into the PC on a short (1400ms) delay so it'll sync with the ElGato) I can mute Desktop Audio completely, yes? All I'd need are the ElGato and mic tracks active--both on 1, ElGato on 1 and 2, and mic on 1 and 3, for instance. Thanks again--this series has saved me probably a hundred hours of fruitless experimenting. :)

    Hello EposVox,
    Thank you for these tutorials, they've been a valuable resource. Perhaps this is a really obvious question but I can't seem to find any information about it: is there a way to crossfade audio along with scene transitions? The video cross dissolves nicely but the audio track keeps going until being abruptly shut off as the next audio file comes in. This is a really obvious necessity, surely I'm missing something?

    i have a difficult time understanding something and looked through the videos and didn't find it (maybe i missed it). when i am separating the audio what would just the game audio be and what would the streamlabs audio (notifications) with gameplay be so i can isolate them in the audio tab. i want 3 audio files. one, a audio file with just the game, one with just the microphone, and one that would use everything including the streamlabs audio (that i'd stream). i run my audio through my blue yeti into voicemeeter. i am super new (talking first 2 weeks) also. do you think voicemeeter is worth it to try to make my microphone better or should i try something else.

    Hello, is it possible for me to get two microphone headset into obs if i only have one soundcard installed on my pc? I thought i could use a stereo breakout cable to split two headset mics but instead it seems to be turning my headset speaker into a mic. I've been trying to figure this out so my kid and i can just make some cheap videos with our headsets and be able to monitor each others audio through headsets too. I've tried to find fixes but a lot of it is too technical or expensive for us and i just have a hard time finding information on topic. Please any help here would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello there, thank you for the masterclass vids I really appreciate it because i finally can stream now with my system :) . I have one question and thought maybe posting it here: my audio from webcam and mic is fine and in sync but.. my gamesound (xbox one with Elgato HD the older one) is a little in front of the gameplay. I play Fortnite and when i pull the trigger you hear the sound and then about 0.5 or 1.0 second later you see it in the gameplay on stream. Do you have tips for this? thank you!

    Great video. I just have one question, is there any way for me to split the Spotify track from my desktop audio via configuration without having to use virtual cables or advanced, complicated setup? It'd just be really handy for highlights and avoiding copyright strikes.

    • @EposVox

      Not currently, no. Either virtual or physical separate cables is required.

      Do you personally think setting it all up is worth it? Like I said it's mostly for youtube highlights from past twitch broadcasts, it'd be easier to send clips for compilation channels or dodging copyright strikes myself if I could take music off my recorded videos.

    Hi, I streamed earlier and figured everything was fine, but when I went back to play my recorded stream it was echoing. I had it to 'monitor and output'. What setting do I need so that I can hear my obs studio and my viewers can hear the stream without the echo?

    If I wanted to stream an interview through zoom via a window capture, is there a way that I can pull the audio from within the window itself. I would like to be able to chat with the person I'm interviewing with my mic and speakers like normal, but if I do, it'll cause an echo. If I disable my mic, then I can't talk, and if I disable my speakers then I can't hear. I'm looking for a way that I can talk and listen during the interview, but the viewers only hear what's coming through the window source itself. I want them to only be able to hear the conversation WITHIN the window, and not my actual speakers and microphone. Giving me the freedom to talk and listen normally, not have to worry about echos or feedback, and it all sounds nice and clean to the view because they're getting it directly from the window source. Is this possible? Like if I disabled my microphone and speakers within OBS, but kept them enabled on my computer, and then create a window source with the zoom window, and get it started. I hope this makes sense.

    So I plan to stream while playing with friends. These videos have been amazing for helping me figure out how to get what I want out of OBS. I'm still having one nit of trouble though. I have my mic, game audio, and voice chat set up on 3 different tracks right now. But the way I have it set up is that my game audio plays through my main speakers, and my voice chat plays through my headphones. So to actually keep the tracks separate, I have to turn the volume on my main speakers all the way down. so i don't actually get to hear my game play. Could someone tell me what I missed or at least point out what video I need to watch to find the solution?

    How do you just mute OBS?
    I literally just need for there to be no sound coming out of OBS from my speakers when I'm streaming, and the only way I can achieve that is to mute my computer outright. You'd think it'd be as easy as muting that track, but no. I've gone into advance properties and checked/unchecked all the boxes, switched the monitoring options, and no matter what, I can always hear the game sound coming from OBS. This problem also causes an audio feedback loop with my mic, so it's a hot mess. So yeah, very simply, I just need to know how to mute OBS so it doesn't interfere with my stream, and I can't find that answer in any tutorial. Anyone?

  • @JediCrackSmoke

    A question for you, sir. I’m using Streamlabs OBS. I’m finding that when I enable Desktop Audio within SLOBS so that the audio for the subscription/donation notifications can be heard over the live stream it is also doubling the video game audio (I’m using an elgato hd 60s).
    Is there a way for me to be able keep my desktop audio from doubling the audio from my capture device yet still broadcast notifications audio as well as audio from media files that I might cue?
    Thanks!

  • @Toddypkc
    @Toddypkc 6 лет назад

    I'm so stuck on separating Teamspeak, MIC, and Desktop audio. I have the Yahama MG10xu with USB turned on vs using audio jacks to the blue like you set up. The trouble I'm having is setting TS to a playback device that still goes to my mixer so I can hear it but also so I can put it on a track in OBS by itself.

    • @EposVox
      @EposVox  6 лет назад +1

      Well that's the problem - the USB I/O is still only one device. You still need to run, for example, your green PC audio out to the mixer and set TeamSpeak/other VOIP apps to use that as output, and then the "Monitor Out" jack to your blue Line in and ONLY turn up the monitor knob on your mic input and set your VOIP apps to use that as the input.
      Then you have a dedicated VOIP line to mix separately, and your voip chatters aren't hearing themselves echoed back

    This clears up a lot for me, but one thing is still kicking my ass. Sync. I have all of my audio routed into a Mackie Profx16v2, USB L/R to the computer. That's picked up via the mic/aux audio source just fine. For video, I have a Logitech C920. That's fine too. What's not fine is that I cannot figure out how to get the audio and video to sync. There doesn't seem to be a way to choose a time source. You appear to use a Behringer mixer, which is probably similar. The audio syncs fine to the screen based video source, but it runs ahead of the Logitech. Any suggestions? (Record only, not interested in streaming(yet))

    • @EposVox
      @EposVox  7 лет назад +1

      That just comes down to USB driver issues w/ the C920. Make sure you're using on-motherboard USB ports, NOT USB 3, and not in a hub or anything. Try changing the port around.
      Otherwise click the gear next to you mic listing in the mixer, go to "Advanced Audio Properties", and then play around with the "Sync Offset (ms)" to see if you can get it to sync up.
      Primary issue being the Logitech delay is likely variable so it may not stay matched.
      Also maybe check for driver updates to your USB chipset.

    • @sansaratech
      @sansaratech 7 лет назад

      It's in the front panel. I'll try one on the back that's on the MB. Thanks. It's annoying.

    • @sansaratech
      @sansaratech 7 лет назад

      Added around 200ms to the audio and it's a lot closer. I think it's latency created by the onboard encoding in the camera. Probably nothing I can really do about it other than adjust audio timing. That of course would put the mixer audio out of sync with system audio, but for what I'm doing that wouldn't matter. This is a nice little camera but it really wasn't engineered for anything time sensitive. Just casual web cam and skype and such.

    You should mention in another video how MKV is a superior container/recording format to MP4 since MP4 files have to be finalized and you can easily lose data/progress/entire videos from power loss etc whereas with MKV it does not have to be finalized and you basically never lose your recording even if your PC is powered off unexpectedly or the recording is otherwise interrupted.
    I fucking hate MP4.
