I enjoyed this video. Decades ago, when hostels were based on people helping out to keep costs down, I quite enjoyed working around the hostel for an hour or two. I love the idea of donativo albergues, as that is the true spirit of the Camino. I will look for them when I do the Camino next year. We can learn so much from other people while preparing a meal together. Beautiful.
You guys are wonderful. I am so with you. Minute: 13:44, about Giving. The Camino becomes so much more a giving experience, when the giving comes from the Pilgrim. "The Camino provides" is such a misunderstood phrase and you guys, just brought some light into this. Gracias, Thanks you, Grazie, Dzięki 😌
We also stayed in lots of small towns, and this was in April and May, so we did miss a lot of the crowds. Some towns were just bottlenecks though or can't really be missed, like Burgos or Astorga. We walked a lot of shorter days which then meant we had time to walk around the little towns and sight-see. Biggest tip is to go a bit past Sarria, to Barbadelo, and then you miss the massive crowds that start walking there in the morning. Walked almost alone for several hours, as the Sarria crowd did not catch up until almost noon. Donativos like San Nikolas are really special treats.
Lucky for me I'm way up in the mountains of Lake Tahoe. We have been experiencing Thunder/ligtning storms with lots of rain for days now. Getting ready for the big rain coming! Thanks!
Awesome video, what a showcase of the Beautiful Sweden. How heavy is Ana’s pack. Very different from the Camino being self sufficient. Thank you for sharing the journey. Safe travels!
Another valuable video from the @caminotellers ! We will make the Camino in Just a few more weeks from SJPDP! We love meeting new people but also, some quiet time too! so this was very good advice. What about on the path? If we say in the smaller albergue should we leave a little later to miss the crowds? We leave in September, will it be a busy time??
September is busy, but you can find “your “ moments ! When starting at the same time (as others) from the small place you will always keep the same distance from them… keep us informed! We will be in Japan with our feet but our heart will still be on the Camino
If you do the Porto route in November will there be less people on the trail? Are the places to stay still open or are there fewer places to stay in November?

Thanks an old school Italian touch ;) only few can appreciate this…
We have one in our hallway. It belonged to my Hispanic husband's French grandmother.

Thanks for watching!
Excellent chat again. Just a laugh as the subtitles instead of Donativo they come up with donut evil...very funny.
Hahahah ! Thanks a lot, hugs from Japan
Should you bring instruments on the Camino? I have a small plastic ukulele. It is light weight, ok if it gets wet, and it sounds good.
Definitely!!!! We did bring harmonica, guitalele… let’s put the community together!

There are fever places as the season kinda stops in the end of October but some albergues are open 365! Especially on the Spanish side.
Hi guys!
How do you find the smaller places to stay
There is a webpage called Gronze.com and they have a list of all the albergues…. Or any other info page will also do. Hugs
What’s the name of the French song in the end?
Ultreia
Is early June already too busy from Sarria?
Yes, it is!
😅 oh well!

Who did do the cover art?
Hey Terry, we had a cover designer do it for us 😊
Why do you say VDLP is for braves?
I had a huge dormitory to myself at the municipal albergue in Tui late June last year.
Just because Via de la Plata is really long, and some stages are long before you can get to albergue
@@caminotellers lol true The trick is to measure distances in miles, then it's not as far
@@brunoferreira3182 what time of year did you walk?
My wife said Riki is very handsome with his goatee, she likes it better than the beard.❤❤
The beard is still there, hidden in the shadows. 😉

Hahaha nop!
I think he looks very smart with the short goatee. With the untamed beard he looks like he's on the Meseta with no water and in a panic. 😂😂😂

Flashlight in American English. A head torch would burn your hair off! 😊
I won’t have that problem.
Ahahahah that's funny, thanks for the correction, we'd better use a flashlight then 😂
@@caminotellers No, then the British will be correcting you!
@@mikea7429 Ditto!
@@caminotellers Technically, I think it's called a headlamp. A flashlight is usually carried in a person's hand.

Ricky, you look years younger with the shorter beard.

A 'people pleaser' is someone who unnecessarily gives too much of themselves to others
mmm, we are trying to find the "middle way" as sometimes we fall into that category
How many roads must a man walk down .....

How many roads can one man walk until he knows he's a man, etc., good folk song
The answer is blowin' in the wind.
