Absolutely correct about carrying too much weight. I went in the summer, so no coats, only a rain jacket. Total pack weight was 11 pound, plus water (usually a 1 liter bottle). Wore same walking clothes everyday, washing them nightly.

Tip.7, you can chooses to be alone too, on busier routes . There is no pressure to socialize, when you crave that quiet time we sometimes need.
I even think that the more busier sections, with more crowds and groups can feel more lonely than some quieter paths, due to the less intimate connections made.

Thank you for this great video Chris. I have been walking Caminos on and off since 2011 and your ten tips are the perfect summation of what I have experienced myself over these years . I will happily recommend and share your video with family and friends who want to know what to expect on the Camino.
    Well done 👍

Great tips, especially about communicating your needs. Im planning my first camino on the portuguese route this spring, and i am excited to meet new people on the way but i am still an introvert at heart so i still need lots of solo reflecting time. It's gonna be challenging but really looking forward to it.

Never walk without a hat. It is absolutely essential. Your clothes must dry quickly, so no cotton t-shirts. Earplugs for the albergues. Ask for help when you need it. There will be bad days, but other people will help you when you ask. Know your water needs. Walking thirsty is hell. When it rains, don't walk as far. Ask others about their boot tricks. You can learn a lot. A guide book helps a lot. But don't go their suggested days. It is better to go a little less or a little further, so you don't stop the same places as everyone else.
You will need the occasional rest day. Your body will tell you when.
You will always miss the Camino. So enjoy it.

Agree. Also, neck Sun protection. Remember, on the Frances, you’re always walking west

Hi thanks for your suggestions! They're things many don't talk about but they're also important. I hava a question: i plan to do the french camino at the start of april, do you think i will find many people? I want to walk alone, at least at the start, but i'm scared to find too many people.

Start in the middle of a month rather than the start of a month. 15th May?
